My MIL is visiting this weekend and I need to figure out some errands to do while she is here. It's been a crazy few weeks and I know that I need some space.
The middle school play this year is Frozen Jr so I'm taking my 6 year old tonight. It's going to be really bad, right?!?! LOL I wish I didn't have to drive so I could have a little happy hour drink beforehand.
We have this neighbor who is always causing problems and then claims to be the victim when people call her out. She does have mental health issues so it’s hard. But she posts pics of her kids and her own videos online and often they are inside their house. Their house is filthy inside. Not just cluttered, but stuff everywhere 2’ high on the floor, dog stains that don’t appear to have been ever cleaned, holes in the walls, thick dust and broken furniture or cabinet doors laying around. They listed their house for sale and apparently had a pre listing showing today, The people literally walked in, were in for 2 min max and walked out. They have it listed for 625k. That would be a record for this neighborhood. Brand new houses sell for 525-650k right up the street. I’m guessing they didn’t do a thing inside either.
Next weekend it’s just DS2 and me so I decided we’d go to Disneyland and because it’s just us, and it’s Mother’s Day, I want to make a dinner reservation so we can sit and relax for a little while and I can have a drink. Of course, I’m having trouble getting any desirable reservation so I signed up for a Mousewatcher alert and was able to catch the text at the right time and make a reservation at Lamplighter Lounge for 5pm. This morning I realized that I booked for the 7th and not the 14th. I went back to my Mousewatcher alert and that is correct (it was alerting me about the 14th. Not sure what happened, but I’m back to square one.
Fun! Can you make a reservation at a place in Downtown Disney instead of in the park?

DS loves the just bare chicken nuggets from Costco so I used that as my excuse to go get street tacos and margarita mix for tonight. MH is such a snob about margarita and hates the mix and turned his nose up when he saw it. Fine don't have any.
We had plans tomorrow night, but they got cancelled because the host is sick so now we're planning on hanging out. Hopefully it will be nice and we can sit by the fire and relax. Sunday DS has hockey at 12 and 4:50 so running back and forth.

I was thinking about that. My concern is asking a 5 year old to leave the park might be hard.

The Boomer thread discussion around answering machines just unlocked a memory for me.
When I was in college, we had one of those old school answering machines. My college roommate was awesome and we liked to make fun outgoing messages like (to the tune of Stop in the Name of Love):
🎶STOP! Because we’re not home! Leave your name and number on our phone at the to-oh-one! 🎶
or (to the tune of I Think We’re Alone Now)
🎶 I think we’re not home now. There doesn’t seem to be anyone aro-ound! I think we’re not home now. Leave your name and number at the so-ound! 🎶

oh dear. My in laws stayed for 11 days the last two weeks. I was out of the house as often as I could be, lol. Just go to Target and walk around. Go for walks. Schedule coffee with a friend. etc.

God, we were dorks. 😂
I love that.
But now, thanks to you, I have the George Constanza answering machine outgoing message in my head.
I got a new tattoo yesterday and I love love love it. It was to honor my father, who was a farmer and known for starting the farmers markets here in the late 70s/early 80s and was obsessed with corn. He grew so much corn and my fondest memories are of him in his garden with the corn and eating corn on the front deck in the summer.
When I got into the car after the appointment, immediately my dad's favorite song by John Prine started to play. I burst into tears.
I am trying to decide if a capybara encounter is worth $400. I feel like we got our sloth encounter for a steal ($150 split two ways) seeing these prices.
Where is this $400 capybara encounter? To answer your question, in my family, the answer to your question would be yes.
mysteriouswife, Holy shit! I would decline. No way in hell would I do that!
I had a friend, now looking back was such a bitch, tell me that all of her guests needed to give a wedding gift that was at least the value of what their plate per/head cost at her wedding. I was like.... how the fuck are they supposed to know what you paid per head? God, she was a bridezilla. This was 20 years ago and we're not friends anymore, obviously, but what an entitled brat. She didn't even pay for her wedding, her mom did.
tacokick, this is where a collapsible wagon would be great! We got ours at a pretty reasonable price (I think at Sams) and have used it way more than I thought we would. It's easy to fold up and unfold and doesn't take up too much space.
Yes! I am seriously thinking about this. I had to haul some craft stuff recently for a demo and thought it would have been so much better if I had a wagon. It seemed silly because we don’t have kids but I totally should have got one then.
I’m obsessed with ours. I live in city and don’t have a car - this bag fits so much, Is super easy to handle, folds flat for storage etc. I’ve used it for all sorts of random things
I offered to assist a friend with their upcoming wedding. They asked me to contact gues who haven’t sent a gift or donated to their registry for a honeymoon
mysteriouswife, I would honestly have a hard time remaining friends with that person after such a request. underwaterrhymes, thank you! I have been working really hard on my fitness journey and I feel like my shoulders still are nowhere near where I want them.
I never win raffles or anything like that, but I’m on a roll the last 2 weeks. I won a bottle of bourbon last week and before that I won a box (6 seats) at the Derby. I don’t know if I should call it good or try to bet on the race tomorrow. 🤣

I declined and gave my reasonings as to why. I really wanted to say my mother would come from the grave and slap the fuck out of me. I am really hoping they are just wrapped up in the wedding and didn’t notice this was tacky.

Cape May Zoo! Which is free admission so it all evens out, right? There’s a slightly cheaper one in MD about 2.5 hours away from where I live here in PA (NW suburbs of Philadelphia)

sunshineluv , have they checked her thyroid levels? I had viral meningitis when I was in college and it caused my thyroid to slow way down and I gained a ton of weight, lost my eyebrows and tired all the time. Once I started medicine my symptoms improved, but I had to see a specialist because my numbers were right on the cut off and my PCP wouldn't prescribe meds. The specialist looked at all the symptoms and the blood work and put me on meds. Good luck!!
