I got a new tattoo yesterday and I love love love it. It was to honor my father, who was a farmer and known for starting the farmers markets here in the late 70s/early 80s and was obsessed with corn. He grew so much corn and my fondest memories are of him in his garden with the corn and eating corn on the front deck in the summer.
When I got into the car after the appointment, immediately my dad's favorite song by John Prine started to play. I burst into tears.
The middle school play this year is Frozen Jr so I'm taking my 6 year old tonight. It's going to be really bad, right?!?! LOL I wish I didn't have to drive so I could have a little happy hour drink beforehand.
This was my kid's last play. It's definitely not our favorite, but it's not terrible. My 8yo liked the Jr version more than the actual broadway version. I think I'm still just traumatized from listening to Let it Go on repeat for a year when L was in preschool.

sunshineluv , have they checked her thyroid levels? I had viral meningitis when I was in college and it caused my thyroid to slow way down and I gained a ton of weight, lost my eyebrows and tired all the time. Once I started medicine my symptoms improved, but I had to see a specialist because my numbers were right on the cut off and my PCP wouldn't prescribe meds. The specialist looked at all the symptoms and the blood work and put me on meds. Good luck!!
She said they checked her levels in March and they were normal, but I am not sure if they are on the cusp of not normal. I will ask her. What kind of specialist she need to see?
I'm so very much looking forward to a weekend that we don't have multiple places to go and things we have to do! And the weather is supposed to be decent - I feel like we've been waiting way too long for the weather to warm up!

I saw an endocrinologist. He looked at the blood work and symptoms whereas my PCP at time said you are in the normal range (barely) and dismissed me.
I don’t want to make my own thread but I would like any helpful tips you may have about my mom. She is 73 and has had some health issues lately. Post covid she has had loose teeth, and her osteoporosis has spread and gotten worse. She has gained 20 lbs in the past 6 months (not sure how accurate this is, she would def fib on this so it could be more) without changing her eating habits.
She has been to her primary care doc and her dentist, but my concern is there is a larger issue at hand that they haven’t found yet. Bloodwork was fine in March, we will know her vitamin d levels soon.
But what should she be pushing for testing wise? Any ideas?
Did they check her thyroid?
Since you know she has osteoporosis, is she being treated for it with something like Fosamax? There's a rare side effect of Fosamax that involves loss of jaw bone that can result in lose teeth.

Y'all - we got the house! We put in an offer last night, they came back today to ask us to sign something about a transferable lifetime warranty on some foundation work they had done (super odd, but sure, I'll sign that I saw you had the work done), then they accepted.
I don't even know what to do with myself. My H is freaking out a bit (omg so much money, the market might crash, we might have a recession, etc etc etc) but I'm just excited. We qualified on only my income for the mortgage, so it'll be fine. But OMG to finally getting out of this kinda awful rental.

It's graduation season. My niece is graduating from HS and her mom, my former sil, sent out invitations to her party. The only problem, she addressed mine to Rosi and Tracey G. I have never in my life used TG. TRG yes but TG .. no no nope. I'll let it go bc I don't socialize w her at all (a perk to the divorce) but it peeved me to see that she can't spell her niece's name right or remember that I never had the G last name that she kept after she divorced.
Yes! I am seriously thinking about this. I had to haul some craft stuff recently for a demo and thought it would have been so much better if I had a wagon. It seemed silly because we don’t have kids but I totally should have got one then.
I’m obsessed with ours. I live in city and don’t have a car - this bag fits so much, Is super easy to handle, folds flat for storage etc. I’ve used it for all sorts of random things
Today I’m taking my comb binding machine to my grant partner’s house so we can bind handouts for our project. Please cross everything that I can find a parking spot near their house!
The machine isn’t super heavy (like 35 lbs) but it is incredibly awkward to carry. I wish I knew a kid with a wagon. I thought about putting it in a suitcase so I could wheel it there if I had to but the arm won’t fit.
Why do I feel like these are problems only I have?
I got this a few years ago, it might help and cost a lot less than a wagon, also easier to store.

can they come down and get it from you if there isn't close parking?
That’s what we ended up doing but they live in a really busy part of the city and after right at a major intersection. It was not great. Little narrow one way streets are not made for this!
I'm grumpy and need to vent. I was supposed to get genetic testing today. I scheduled the appointment over 2 months ago, took the entire day off from work because I had to drive to the specialist over 90 minutes away for a 2-3 hour appointment.
The appointment was supposed to be with several docs. I'm halfway through and they tell me one doctor left and I can't get tested without meeting with her. Now I have to go back at least 2 more times because they wouldn't even draw my blood today. Also, they want me to have a driver for the results, no one I know has that kind of time. I'm not this fragile, the whole process seems designed to make me feel stupid.
I found an online place that will do telehealth and testing by mail via cheek swab, but I have to start from scratch and redo the genetic counseling. I really hate medical things.
We have this neighbor who is always causing problems and then claims to be the victim when people call her out. She does have mental health issues so it’s hard. But she posts pics of her kids and her own videos online and often they are inside their house. Their house is filthy inside. Not just cluttered, but stuff everywhere 2’ high on the floor, dog stains that don’t appear to have been ever cleaned, holes in the walls, thick dust and broken furniture or cabinet doors laying around. They listed their house for sale and apparently had a pre listing showing today, The people literally walked in, were in for 2 min max and walked out. They have it listed for 625k. That would be a record for this neighborhood. Brand new houses sell for 525-650k right up the street. I’m guessing they didn’t do a thing inside either.
If you’ve been following my saga of finding a house in our low home inventory town, this one came on the market just as we were starting to look and has been sitting since, which tells you something. The pics are…something.

Other than the needing a declutter and a scrub down, the house itself mostly looks okay. A lot can be fixed with a fresh coat of paint.
But you know that house reeks of cat urine. There's just no way it doesn't.
Oh believe me we’d have considered it if we had liked the neighborhood. I just can’t believe someone posted pics of a house looking like that. I sent it to some friends and one sent back the pic of the dilapidated pool with “can’t wait for the first pool party!”

You can serve liquor from the empty bottles on the kitchen counter LOL! Seriously WTF.
But for real once all that crap is gone the house will be perfectly legit.
