The travel board is kind of dead so trying here - we are going to Italy in august and will be in Venice for 3 days (with my 16 year old and 11 year old). Anyone have recommendations for tours or unique experiences there? DH and I were there as part of our honeymoon but that was 19 years ago lol. We are considering a day trip to either Verona (went and enjoyed 19 years ago but don’t recall much) or to the Dolomites, because I don’t think we need 3 full days in Venice… it will be the end of our trip though so we may also just want to chill. Thoughts?
Venice is the perfect city to just walk around, chill in different cafes, and soak it all in. With three days, I wouldn’t try to do Verona, but you could easily visit Murano, Burano, Torcello, and some of the other islands in the lagoon. Public boats go to all the islands, so it’s really affordable. You can see glass making in Murano, lace making in Burano, and one of the oldest churches in the Veneto in Torcello.
Or head to Lido and do a beach day! There’s tons of fun beach shops and food places, and it’s a super short vaporetto ride from Venice.
I spent a summer in Venice and visiting those islands (plus walking all over Venice from one end to the other) are some of my favorite memories.

We went to a classical concert in Venice and it was in a little church and a great experience! I booked tickets online a few weeks in advance. I also really liked the Peggy Guggenheim villa as it is touristy but not like some of the other museums. We took a boat to one of the islands and ate dinner there with a view of downtown Venice which was cool. And, as mentioned above, just wandering around is lovely!

I love, love, love just walking around Venice. We did a street food tour using Viator and it was brilliant (went to places we might not otherwise go). It's a super easy city to walk around and very small.
My favourite restaurant was CoVino.
We went for a two days and didn't feel it was enough time to really just experience Venice. 3 Days will be perfect (I'd like to spend at least that amount of time).
We spent five days in Venice last summer with our 5- and 8- year olds. We did both a day in Verona (daughter had finished a Shakespeare unit at school which was a great tie-in), a day on Murano island, and also a beach day on Lido Island. This was the tail end of our nearly 3-week trip to Europe (had done Paris/Versailles/Disneyland Paris the previous week) so the kids were delighted to have open beach play time on Lido. If you do the beach, I’d recommend trying to research chairs and umbrella at one of the private beaches. We ended up at the free public beach, which was fine in the end, but not without trying the private beaches for availability first.
