Thanks to a power surge, our old baby monitor died. DD is 9, but she frequently suffers from insomnia and calls me or H to help her calm down. Her room is too far from our bedroom for us to hear her calling while we are sleeping, and I don’t want her to have to walk down the stairs to our room in the middle of the night while having a panic attack over not being able to sleep, so I want to replace the monitor. It doesn’t look like our old monitor is still made. Does anyone have a recommendation for a simple, audio only monitor?

We use this one for travel. We like it. You need to basically keep it plugged in because the batters go quickly if you don’t buy it does what it needs to do. Quite loud so we keep it on the lowest volume.
We still use a monitor for our DS(7). He still wakes up with bloody noses or coughs so hard he barfs in the middle of the night so we are in no hurry to get rid of it. Our monitor is as old as DS and definitely on its last leg. I never thought we'd use the monitor long enough to need to replace it but here we are.

macmars45 , I’m glad I’m not the only one still using a monitor for an older kid! I definitely didn’t think we’d still be using a monitor at this age either.

My kids are 6 and 3 and if our video one broke I'd definitely replace with a sound only. I sleep better knowing I'd hear them if they needed me. We sleep with a fan on so most noise gets drowned out.
Also--at our beach rental the master is downstairs and I'd for sure never hear them if they cried upstairs.
Disregard if this doesn't fit what you're looking for, but you might consider an Echo Dot, especially if you're already using Amazon Echo devices in your home. We have Echos and Echo Dots in most of the rooms in our two story home and frequently use them as an intercom to talk to one another briefly. For example, my 6 y.o. will call me from the bathroom while I'm making dinner downstairs to let me know he's ready to have help washing his hair, etc. It could work for middle of the night wakeups too. They just have to say, "Alexa, drop in on "Mom's Bedroom" (or whatever your Echo device is named) and then they'd be connected to your device and could talk to you.
