I want to say people are stupid and there’s only ONE way to pronounce the name Joan, but I have two longtime friends who both spell their names Deanna. One pronounces it DEEna and the other pronounces it deANNA so I can no longer say it out loud bc I’m afraid I’ll get the pronunciation wrong and they’ll think I don’t know their names.
It is a name in my family and it has been used by two different people with the two different pronunciations. My H thinks the Jo-Ann pronunciation is preposterous, but to me it's normal.
I do assume 'Jone' for anyone new to me, since that's more common.

I'm so screwed up at languages now, but I'd say Jone. That was my godfather's wife's name, and that's my only association.
Where I live there's a quick mart called Chois. And in my head, for over a year, I pronounced it Cho-is due to how the last location would pronounce. Which is also how they'd likely pronounce it in Hawaii. It's choice which makes sense. And in Japan, self (as in gas station) is written serufu, and you just have to be divinely inspired to interpret. This also took me over a year.
IME if you want 2 syllables, it's Joann. Either that's convention or maybe I'm the messed up one, but I wouldn't think twice about that difference, at least in my head.
