Dear BFF I can't wait to see you on Saturday. Thanks for stopping by on your way home. I really wish we could have found time for a longer visit but this week is crazy. Miss you like crazy Me
Dear DD Can you please stop getting banged up. You are a walking Band-Aid right now. Between beam bites, blisters, rips, and scratches you look like summer has been harsh. Do we need to wrap you in bubble wrap Mom
Dear BFF, I cannot wait to meet your little lady and snuggle her and give you giant momma hugs tomorrow! We have all waited so, so long for this to happen (you and your H most of all) and I am just weepy thinking about finally holding her tomorrow. What a miracle! Love you so much, BFF
Dear Physical Therapist, I believe you that cupping is a good therapy option for me, because you are the expert here. But omg. That hurt in a way I have never experienced. You did it to my calf muscle on Monday night and it is still sore to the touch today. This is brutal. How long does this last? Signed, Patient in Pain
Dear work meeting, I know you are going to be awkward this afternoon. Me and the other manager involved are weird frenemies already with the way our divisions work together. And today we battle it out over which division should own some tasks that are messily split between the two right now. I hope our boss is a good mediator. Wish me luck, Bad at confrontation
I suppose I should be thankful this is the first time in 18 years we have had any boy, friend drama. But you are leaving in 2 weeks to bigger and better things, and this is going to seem very insignificant. So let's try not to obsess about it ok?

Dear coworker friend,
I'm so sorry you're dealing with your health issues. I really hope your biopsy comes back negative next week. I'm here to cover your emails or led an ear whenever you need.
Signed, Worried coworker
Dear Beau's son,
I think you're crazy for driving your new to you rebuilt truck to the theme park with us this weekend. I know you've been working on it for a couple of months and you're a good mechanic but driving something 300 miles each way without much test driving around home is just crazy.
Signed, Keeping my opinions about your crazy decisions to myself IRL
Dear Karen, For 20+ years, for 10 weeks each summer, a day camp runs in your neighborhood. Drop off/pick up is across the street from your house. You are not helping ANYONE by standing on the side of the street in front of your house (parallel to your lawn, not the entrance to your driveway, mind you) and telling parent drivers they will get tickets if they park in front of your house. If I seemed mad yesterday, I was. At you. My inner-90's middle schooler is coming out and telling you to "get a life." Really, you should have better things to do than patrol the street in front of your house. And, last I checked, the street is public domain. That Mom

Dear DD1,
I didn’t drive 3.5 hours to the beach so that you could sit next to me on the couch while I work. You cannot be interested in these calls. Go to the pool, go play games with your sister and grandmother, please, move your tween butt.
I'm sorry to hear that your company is doing layoffs and no one knows anything, but your boss reassured you 2 times yesterday that you were key to the company, so I think he is trying to tell you that you are safe. Hopefully you hear more today.
Signed, Wife
Dear Kids,
We had 3.5 weeks until school started and are now down to 2 more weeks to go. So far, DH is saying that you are behaving, so I hope it stays that way for the next 2 weeks until school starts. I can't wait to find out your teachers. I am glad your friends came over this weekend and on Monday. We did not take away the switch during the week like usual, but don't expect to keep the switch during the week when school starts and you need to do homework.

Amen. My kids go to a similar neighborhood camp (in a large neighbor down the road from ours) that’s been going on since the 1990s. It’s not a secret that the neighbor center runs a camp but a bunch of people moved in the last few years and immediately began bitching, trying to close it. When they failed there, they shrank it and began requiring all sorts of extra paperwork for “security.” It’s so frustrating.
Dear family, Let's all stay COVID-free even though DH tested positive this morning.
Dear DH, it is concerning that you just texted me to ask me whether you've had COVID before. You have, a little over a year ago. Are you experiencing major brain fog?
I really like you all, but OMG I'm just so old and I feel it every time I'm with you all!
Today's topic was concerts. I said it was a bummer that they are so expensive now, because I used to be able to see great bands for $20-$30 back in college. I'll admit college was ages ago, but even with inflation, it was still way more reasonable then.
But then I started telling you the bands I've seen... and your 25-year-old selves just kept saying "Who's that"... I don't really like Dave Matthews, but you've honestly never heard of him?? And no, coworker, Pink Floyd and Pearl Jam ARE NOT THE SAME BAND.
Dear DD I'm sorry your friend bailed on meeting you yesterday an hour before you were supposed to meet. I'm sorry your friend wanted to reschedule to today and you aren't available. You said you would clean the office this summer and you scheduled it for today. That means you need to keep your word. Also your schedule has been fixed this summer and Tue/Thurs are the days you come to work with mom so you can get to practice. Me who has a cranky tween today
Dear DD again Your summer schedule isn't busy by any means. Gymnastics 3 days a week just like during school. 2 days a week you go to work with me to help me deal with getting you to gymnastics on time. The other 3 work days you are home with no major plans. You choose to do ZERO camps and we haven't travelled at all. We've only paddled once so far. Why are you saying you are too busy? Flabbergasted mom who wants your schedule
Last night we had a team dinner. The three 20 something girls who are doing developmental rotations with three of our executives were talking about how “all the influencers post pics at the restaurant we are going to.” I have never felt more ancient. I thought that was literally a SNL caricature of 20 somethings. But they actually talk about influencers. Omg.
