Whether you are a manager or report to a manager... how often do you do a one on one and provide/or get individual feedback? Does it seem sufficient to you? What would you change?
There's a poll, if you like clicking things. Weekly, monthly, quarterly, semi-annually, annually, ad hoc, never, SS.
I rarely get time with my boss and virtually never 1:1. It is utterly insufficient and if I leave that will be a big part of the reason. I’m not an attention hog but I need help sometimes and he’s not available.
I am in person with my staff, so I will circle by their desk and say hi and check in several times a week. This is not a formal one on one nor does it necessarily involve feedback about a person, but it might involve solving problems/ discussing the job. They also come to me and ask questions on a daily basis. I manage 9 people with a variety of schedules, so I am not checking in with all of them daily but throughout the week, I have probably talked to all of them at some point.
I don't do a lot of one on ones with my boss because I have been here 14 years, and pretty much have a grasp on things, but I can ask questions at any time.
We do performance reviews on an annual basis. I don't pull my staff formally for one on ones in the meantime, but they happen when there are issues.
I have a weekly check in with my manager to catch up and run through projects. I report to the CEO so it's helpful to get that face time with him consistently.
With my team members, I have a formal one on one meeting every other week, but we have lots of side conversations and one offs.
We also use a tool called 15Five to gather weekly check ins that's been hugely helpful. Every employee submits on Fridays and managers all review, comment, and follow up on Mondays. I love it! It's an easy way to do a one on one lite and then I can dig deeper where and when I need to.

We have annual and semi-annual reviews where we have to log into a system and acknowledge our performance review, which is either satisfactory or unsatisfactory with a PIP in place. I've never heard of anyone getting unsatisfactory in my agency in my 18 years of full time work. It's pretty much a joke.
In the last 4 years, I've had 3 different managers and they've all called during these reviews to check in with me. The only feedback I've been given is that I'm doing a good job and keep it up. It's more about us being a small team and they care about our work/life balance. In my last job, my managers never met with me and were just happy I was doing a good job. Before the performance online system, we had to physically sign the review, and I even had managers that would give my folder to another manager to have me sign it because we would be working opposite shifts. Once I was even having a face to face public interaction as part of my job and a manager had me stop and sign the paperwork.
My direct reports, I try to catch them when they are in the office for informal check-ins usually at least every other week, sometimes weekly. We are hybrid and much of our work is done off site at other community sites.
One has an office in another building about an houraway, so he is less often face to face, usually emails.
My technical manager (we are really more peers, but she does admin stuff and I do client stuff) is based in Boston and I’m in San Diego, so weI have a check in every month or so but that’s more to make sure I have the resources I need and that things are all OK. For feedback, we have very official annual reviews (year end) and somewhat less formal semi-annual reviews (June ish).

We're supposed to do quarterly "goal setting" which has changed direction to be called reviewing a management plan, so I said quarterly but I really do more ad hoc in the moment. But our department is small.
I work for a tech startup that was recently purchased by a big corporation. My team is small (15 people) and we all WFH. We have a 30 min daily standup meeting to review what we did the day before, what we are doing today, and if there are any roadblocks. It works well for our team. I have a monthly 1:1 with my boss and it is good for me since everyone is always so busy. I can definitely get a hold of my boss or anyone else when I need to.
I’m a teacher so a little different but my boss (division director) comes by at least twice a day to shoot the shit or to talk about school stuff. My boss boss (head of school) comes by periodically and will chat in the hallway but he never asks to meet with me unless something is wrong.
