Ugh. My dog is having a belly morning, and H didn’t even try to shove some Pepcid in her. He’s just complaining that all she wants to do is eat grass. Yet we know that if you can get food or Pepcid in her, she will be better quickly. So, I grabbed the Pepcid and cream cheese and forced her mouth open. Cream cheese because she can’t not eat it in es it’s in her mouth, it doesn’t spit out like other cheese.
On the plus note, this dog generally belly issues pass quickly. Like half a day. My previous dog, a belly issue would take about a week to resolve, and generally not without a vet visit for non OTC meds.
I've been on a big migration project at work since early 2022. It's been painful. A lot of institutional knowledge was lost early on due to people leaving (the transition was not well communicated to key teams so very little knowledge transfer took place), and it's been a lot of guesswork and piecing things together. We're at a point before the 1st wave goes live that we need an interim (temporary) solution for how to handle a certain task and no one is willing to make any concessions, therefore the manual work lands with my team AND IT PISSES ME OFF. I keep pushing back on it and justifying why we need help, but it's getting exhausting listening to everyone's reasons for why they can't do (i.e., are unwilling) something.
My H made bacon on the grill using a cast iron griddle the other day. I completely forgot about it until I was rummaging in the fridge this morning and came across it. It made the BEST bacon/egg/cheese sandwich for breakfast!
I have never crocheted anything in my life, but I bought two of those Woobles that are everywhere on social media ads right now and so far I'm really kind of enjoying making my first one! It took me several watches of the videos on how to do stitches to really "get it" but I think I'm getting the hang of it and it's starting to look like something. I'm excited to see how it finishes. The kits are kind of expensive but the step by step instructions are really helpful for a beginner like me.
I know it's more environmentally friendly than plastic, but eating a piece of cake off a wooden fork totally subtracts from the enjoyment.
Brought to you by a work thing where there was cake.
I would rather use my hands than use a wooden fork & have no straw than use a paper one.
I don't mind a wooden utensil (or plate for that matter, we have those on campus) but those paper straws can fuck right off with their dissolving in 3 minutes self!
Change of plan, I am now making the cake for my nephew's baby shower. I was watching some tutorials last night on how to make fondant jungle animals, all of them titled "EASY!", and the professionals and I clearly have a very different idea of what is easy. I got cocky after making L's dinosaur cake topper, now I may be in over my head haha.
Cute animals are all heads and eyes! You can do it!

We are squeezing in summer fun these last two weeks. A little amusement park last night after work, a water park after work tonight, a road trip this weekend…but I woke up at 1:45 from a nightmare (after going to bed at 12:15), and I made the mistake of scrolling Instagram and seeing posts on all the things AI is taking over, and I was up for 2.5 hours wondering whether any of us would have jobs five years from now. My brain is such a downer sometimes.
Also, a skunk must have sprayed right outside my room last night. I could literally taste it when I woke up, and the entire house reeks today.

Oh I liked for the summer fun, not the skunking that’s terrible! Do you have an air purifier you can run?
I’m hoping to get discharged today. I feel like a slug just laying here and I miss my kids so much. I’ll take the positive vibes if you’re sparing!
Hey Bernadine, do all the exchange students you take go to the same school? I hope she makes the team! I miss cheer so much. Lucy’s more the witchy, looking in the woods for mushrooms and hexing her enemies type now lol.
Aw, hope you’re released today!
G went to a private school, but L and A were/are at the local high school. I also miss cheer!

My boss told me today that I am getting an off-cycle increase of about 5%, and it will be effective with the next pay period. So that has made my day. It feels good to be recognized and now my pay is more appropriately positioned within the pay range.
I forgot to take my Claritin this morning and my allergies really impact my ears in that they get really itchy like WAAAAYYY down deep and it's driving me crazy! What I wouldn't give for a q tip right now! And yes, I know you're not really supposed to put a q tip in deep but it's the only thing that helps! I need to start keeping some in my desk I think.

AI is both incredible and terrifying. I have no marketable skills outside of what I do now. If AI comes for my job, which I see as a possibility, I have no idea how I will support myself. I'm good at what I do, but probably not good enough to be better than AI. I haven't lost sleep to this issue, but I'm sure I will sooner or later.
I did a Target drive up after school drop offs and when I pulled up the app to sat I was on the way a pop up came on and I could have added a Starbucks order to it and they would deliver it out to my car. Never saw that before.
oh that would be amazing. I'll have to see if my Target has that option. I did notice the other day when I was pulling up an order to do a return (in store) there was an option for a drive up return.

Oh, this is random: I feel much more rested if I stay up late but then sleep in late than if I go to bed early and wake up early sleeping the same total hours. Does everyone feel that way? I assume some people feel more rested on the early/early schedule, but I'd never really thought about it and now am curious. I just can't imagine not feeling like sleeping in, even if it's just 30 min, is the most glorious thing ever!
PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT For people who use Teams at work
You can actual send a chat to ONE PERSON. You don’t have to chat the whole team every time you have a very specific question for just one very specific person. Who mostly likely doesn’t know the question is for them anyway, doesn’t see it, and then you ask everybody AGAIN the same thing.
Sadly I too lost the Mega Millions, so work will have to continue.
I'm trying to decide if I need to ask for a bigger stipend for some website work I do for my school. It's not difficult (the site is Wordpress and I don't have to do any coding), but when I accepted the original stipend amount I didn't realize that I'd effectively be on call all summer and expected to check my work email daily for website issues. Ninety percent of the things I have to fix/add to the site take less than 10 minutes, so part of me feels like I shouldn't need more money, but the other part is screaming at me to demand better compensation for working through my unpaid time off.
Kid 1's 16th birthday is tomorrow, and while we have a really fun day planned (breakfast at their favorite pancake spot, amusement/water park, and their favorite dinner) I feel bad that they're not getting any real presents on their actual birthday. Their big gift is a trip we're taking over fall break, and for some reason their present from DS 2 hasn't shipped yet even though we ordered it a week ago. My parents haven't said anything about wanting to come over to deliver their present, and I'm positive my sister has forgotten and will wait until their family birthday party in a week to give them anything.

I'm this way too but generally speaking I'm a night owl.

I always feel less rested if I have to get up early (before 8am), doesn't matter what time I go to bed. Also, if I go to bed before 11pm my day feels so short. Doesn't matter how early I got up or total waking hours. I can't imagine not staying up till after 10pm each day-- how do you get anything done?

Our family is big on decorating a box to unwrap for just such a gift. We’ve even gotten creative with what we put in the box. In a pinch, it’s a photo or a copy of the QR code. My favorite is helium balloons in big box that float to the ceiling when opened with a message tied to the strings.

wildrice , pretending I don't have internet to look it up on my own...what kind of instructions come with the kits? I saw someone IRL crochet little stuffed animals and I"m intrigued as what I knit or crochet is always flat. I can't follow paper directions, are there videos or something else for non-paper learners?
emilyinchileglw , I feel better rested when I sleep in. I've been on a better routine working early, which means going to bed earlier, but I wake up a lot more in the night and early morning, and constantly look tired. We went away this past weekend and "sleeping in" until about 9 AM was practically heaven, I didn't even need a weekend nap, just coffee.
livinitup , ugh, I hope your day gets better. So annoying, and def means there are private chats complaining about the group chat. ::eye roll::
