S: Half Marathon. Missed my time goal by 5 mins, but felt strong throughout so I’m calling it a success.
I’m about to head into my peak mileage weeks for the Chicago marathon, so I took Sunday off. My heel has been hurting, so trying to get it feeling better as I head into this week 😀
Fri: rest Sat: nursed a little bit of a cough. I've low-key had a minor cold for like 3 weeks and I'm struggling to totally kick it. Sun: 8 mile long run. Went pretty well; started slow and brought the pace down through the final mile.
At this point, every week's long run will be the new "longest I've run since 2016" until I pass 9.3 miles, and then they'll be "longest I've run since 2014," when I did my last half. It's a weird hybrid between this being well trodden territory, and being brand new.
I borrowed a Camelbak from a friend, and it wasn't perfect but conceptually I really liked it vs. handheld or belt. Now I need to decide what to buy.
Fri - the weight circuit at the gym twice. My older daughter was with me and we sampled some new-to-me equipment so I did 5 mins each of rowing, the cross country skiing machine, and the mini trampoline, and then we walked a little too. Sat - treaded water for a long time while kids partook in various activities at a really cool water park in a quarry Sun - stretched during Meet the Press, weight circuit at the gym twice, made the girls walk our mile loop.
