DS2 has had some congestion all week (not Covid, we tested), so last night, after sleeping miserably all week, I suggested we put some Vick's on his chest to help with the overnight. He agreed, and as I was smearing it on I had flashbacks to my mom doing it when I was a kid (my mom is alive and well, just a funny memory). He woke up this morning and said he feels 100000% better, so that was icing on the cake.

Happy birthday jennistarr1, sweetchix (hope you had some time to break and do something fun) and Mr. Dick, lol
Adding that the camp nowhere camp (the nickname my friend has for my house) weekends bring me a lot of joy. I'm actually really excited for last minute plans!
There’s a black currant scented candle that I really love but usually have to order online at ridiculous prices. I randomly found them at Marshall’s this week and bought 2 for 7.99 each. I have one sitting next to me burning right now as I sip a glass of Chardonnay. Bliss.
my house is taken over with Legos. But - also I love that my 17 yr old DS who is always on the go still loves to sit down and do a set here or there.
DD1 is obsessed with them. She has been doing the expert and huge sets since about 8. She gets one a year as her Christmas gift--Home Alone House, Disney Train, etc. Luckily even though she is 12, she still likes the lego friends sets--so that is usually what she buys with her money or gift cards since they are way cheaper than the expert sets. (20-99 dollars as opposed to 200+) I can fully see her as an adult buying sets here and there.
I talked with one of my best friends for 1.5 hours last night. We both just poured our hearts out and gave each other support. I love her. It's so good for my mental health to talk with her. <3
I may whine occasionally about how overwhelming it is, but my garden is truly one of my favorite things about summer since we moved here. We were in rental after rental for the 17 years H was in the Army, and I was never able to have one in any of those houses. The first summer after we bought this house I planted my very first vegetable garden, and even though we were drowning in zucchini that year I loved every second of having it. We've grown pumpkins, cucumbers, celery, onions, potatoes, tomatillos, tomatoes (so many tomatoes), shallots, leeks, basil and other herbs, lavender, peppers, and strawberries, and while this time every year I wind up spending entire weekends making stuff to freeze or give away to friends my garden makes me so happy I can't explain it.

pixy0stix, if you ever want to borrow a big Lego set, let me know. I have the Eiffel Tower, ATAT, razor crest, cantina, and much more.
I spent about $5,000 on Lego after I received a settlement check this summer. Don’t judge, it helps my fingers and hand/eye coordination with my multiple sclerosis. 😁😁😁
There are YouTube videos for tunnels and bridges for every road trip I’ve planned lately, and I’m so grateful to the people who thought to create them. I can make myself anxious when I don’t know what my route will be like, but being able to essentially ride along with someone and see it first is such a huge help. I just love the idea that someone thought, hey, I should record this and share it with people.
Poeticxpassion H and I buy lego sets to build with our fun money and buy them for each other for Birthday/Christmas presents. H just finished building a pirate set that was a throwback to a set he had as a kid. <3
Our mantle has my builds on display. They fit in perfectly with the two plants & family pictures. <3
I just went out and harvested a bowl full of apples from our backyard, and I now have a homemade pie in the oven using apples from our own trees. I enjoy baking anyway, but it brings me more joy when I’m using (literal) fruits of our labours!

DS (14, 9th grade) decided he likes to do meal prep for his school lunches and it’s becoming a nice activity we do together each week. He decides what he wants, we go grocery shopping for it and then come home and prep together.
Also, two days until I go see Duran Duran and I am stoked!!! I first saw them 40 years ago (complete nosebleed seats at the Montreal Forum). We have MUCH better seats at the Boston Garden this time around! Look out JT, I’m comin’ for ya! Lol.
My dog’s ice eating-related zoomies never fail to crack me up. She then moves from ice to her obsession with her hedgehog toy. She’ll flip that thing up in the air and catch it, then get so excited about that she’ll zoom round and round the coffee table three of four times. And she is not a small dog!
Last week, shit hit the fan at work and made me realize I need to get the fuck out ASAP. I worked on my resume a bit but also put some feelers out to a few networking friends thru LinkedIn.
Even with today being a holiday, I have had 2 different people reach out to me with serious prospects. It's kind of nice knowing that people value my work and want to work with me.

I feel this way about YouTube videos of mountain pass drives and hikes. I have a fear of heights/exposure/drop offs and seeing the drive and hikes ahead of time lets me know if I'm able to do them or not and/or how bad they might be (I can usually handle the drives with drop-offs if H drives).

I sparked up all the money in my wallet yesterday by buying a beautiful handbag that I don't need but the good news is, it went on a further sale today, Bradley gave me a price adjustment AND he sort of forgot to charge me tax again because there must have been something lost in translation from £ to $ and well THANK YOU BRADLEY OKAY.
mrsukyankee Aspinal of London. Will Bradley get sacked? Now I feel guilty.
