Japan with anaphylactic sesame allergy?

How did you navigate? And advice other than just walking around with allergy information translated on a card?

Did you find any chain restaurants to be over the top accommodating with disclosures on menus, etc.? Or restaurants in the Shinjuku area that were easy to work with? Hotels with accommodating room service in that neighborhood of Tokyo?
