TGIF!
Some of my friends and I are going to a Ja Rule and Ashanti concert and food festival tomorrow, and I CANNOT wait!
The weekend is going to be nuts with 3 travel ball games and a flag game for DS and 1 baseball game for DD. I will need a weekend to recover from my weekend.
Finally Friday! Samantha Bee was a great show last night. I was sad to see so many open seats. I wouldn't have even known about it if I hadn't gotten an email from the venue with deeply discounted tix two days before. They probably should have done some advertising.
We are going to a really fun food truck/outdoor bar place this evening. I don't know what to call it but they fenced in a parking lot in the city, put in a permanent double decker bus as a bar and rotate food trucks. There's live music, pool, lawn games, old school video games, ping pong, etc. It's such a great place to hang out for all ages. The margs are ☆☆☆☆☆.
Tropical storm scheduled to hit this afternoon with rain through tomorrow. Not sure on our evening plans at this point. Waiting to see how bad it is and if the show my mom and E are going to gets cancelled. I’m sure she’ll still want to sleep over at their house.
I’m off today, but need to login for about a hour to just tie up some loose ends from yesterday. Thankful I’ve got some OT on the books with the damn shutdown looming.
Thankful it’s cooled down so I can do the long walk with the dog and then cross fingers I can get in a pedicure when the place opens.
My H and I found COVID shots last night, and we both feel fine so far today but it's only really been 12 hours so we'll see as the day goes on. We are both kind of sick of working right now, so we were half hoping we'd feel yucky today and could just lay in bed and watch TV all day instead. We started watching Your Honor earlier this week and it's really good so far.
Original plans this weekend had been to go to a garden store and finish my fall front yard refresh, and then try to get last minute football tickets for Sunday. With the predicted rain/storm, neither of those are likely. It's probably just as well since I have a lot of work that needs doing right now and next week is kind of wacky with me flying to TX on Tuesday night and then WFT Wednesday/Thursday/off Friday so it would really be good to spend some time working - not fun.
My friend who I had tried to get Taylor Swift tickets with is flying here to go see the concert movie on the 13 of next month! I am excited, I haven't seen her since a couple of days before we moved to Maryland in 2018. She's talked about visiting a couple of times but never made it happen, but now she actually has plane tickets! I'm very slightly nervous that she's flying in Thursday and not leaving until early Monday morning, because that's a lot of time with someone I haven't seen in over 5 years and have only really talked to a few times in the last couple of years. But I think she's one of those friends who will always be in my life in some capacity, so I'm sure it will be fine. I'm mostly just really grateful she was willing to buy plane tickets to see me!

I'm insane and am volunteering at DS's school later for an event. Wtf was I thinking? Lol.
My heart broke in a million pieces when he told me no one wants to play with him on the playground. I'll talk to his teacher later, but apparently he spends recess hanging out with her and the assistant.

My heart grew three sizes yesterday when I got a late email from one of my scouts. They’re 10, so usually their parents are the conveyors of info. I always invite our troop to tell me ideas of things they’d like to do or topics they’re interested in. I opened it, and she had made a short slideshow of community service opportunities she’d like us to participate in.
This is a newer scout who just joined us last winter. It made me really just so happy that she took her time to do that and her focus is service. It makes me feel like we’re doing something right.
There was an "incident" at my kids school yesterday, so needless to say I'm not sending them in today. I'm not thrilled with the communication from the school about the entire thing and had to get my information for local media.
I'm just so glad it's the weekend. I'm going out tonight with an old flame. We were actually engaged in 1999 so it's going to be fun to catch up.

I'm having lunch with an old coworker friend today, so I'm looking forward to that. DH, DS, and I are planning to go to the HS football game tonight.
Tomorrow DS is going to work at the youth football games. He wants to earn some money to save toward a car. (He'll get his license in about 2 years.)
I need to finally finish unpacking from my work trip (I've been home a week now, so it's time) and do some cleaning this weekend. It's also our township's fall clean-up days, so I need to take some things over to that tomorrow morning.
The estimated completion date on my truck that was damaged in the hail storm in July just got pushed back again I dropped it off on August 14th and the estimate was 19 business days so that would have been about a month and I was fine with that because we thankfully have an extra vehicle I could drive. Initially they said 9/20 then updated to 9/27 then to 9/29 and I just got a text updating it to 10/2. I told H it's almost comical at this point... Of course I want them to do a good job but I also just want my truck back! I'm sure the body shop is really wishing that insurance would have just totaled it. Because we have this extra vehicle we don't carrying rental on our policy but I can't imagine the rental would have been covered this long!
This is the same truck that got hit in the parking ramp at work so it spent about 3 weeks in the shop a few months ago. I've only had it since February and it's seen some things LOL. H commented that it feels like we're getting robbed paying for something we've driven so little! But on the positive side we've got very low miles on the odometer!

I had gotten an email about the show (because I go to a lot of shows so I get emails from all our local venues about all shows), but this one caught my eye because I'm a fan, and I posted in my book club group asking if anyone wanted to go with me when she comes here, and 1. almost no one had heard of her, and 2. everyone was like, that's a busy time of year, sorry, so we are not going and I'm bummed. Although it's probably for the best...the weekend she's coming here, my dd has a y-princess campout, my ds has a band competition, and my grandma is having a 90th birthday party, so I'm glad not to be adding anything else to that weekend now because my book club friends were right that it is a busy time of year...
My family is going to Deep Creek for the weekend with my dh's family. We've been doing this trip for the past few years, and it's always fun. I'm so happy we get along well with his family and actually enjoy spending time with them. I do feel bad for my ds that he's the oldest cousin (he's 14) and the rest are all girls and then next oldest is 6, so he's sort of the odd man out, but he hangs out with his uncles and stuff and still has fun while dd relishes the role of babysitter/role model for all her little girl cousins. The only bummer is we tried to go earlier in the year this year to get better weather and to hopefully do some water sports, and it's supposed to be chilly and rainy all weekend. Oh well.

Our county is working really hard to have teen and pre teen events. They started these free programs on Saturday nights at the community centers. Basically they provide free food and video games, sports, board games, activities, etc. DS and a bunch of his friends are going this weekend. I think its great.
DS2 is supposed to have a camping trip this weekend but its going to be very stormy so that is not happehning.
This week I decided to watch all the DC superhero movies (well the ones in the current storyline or whatever, so not old batman movies). We have watched all the marvel movies with the kids but the DC ones are largely rated R so we haven't watched with them. TO be honest, I am not really sure why these are R and marvel movies aren't other than they are a bit darker. But it doesn't seem significantly so to warrant an R rating.
Anyway, now I am onto Justice League and watching the extended version because apparently that is the one I should watch but it is four hours long. Anyway, so far, these movies are kind of meh and I generally like everything. But it could also be because they are just in the background while I work lol.

DH has a work event tonight. Tomorrow he is running a half marathon in our city, DS1 has a CC meet 2 hours away, and DD has a swim meet locally. I'm hoping for nothing going on Sunday.
I don't have anywhere else to ask this, so I'm going to bury it in here.
How common is it for men who are 45+ to need to take something like Viagra? My STBXH needs it, and the guy I was seeing needed it, and talking to a friend the other day he needs it. Is spontaneity in the bedroom just something that doesn't happen once you are of a certain age?

One of the churches in our town does something similar on Friday nights after football games and I was so happy to see so many kids attend! It's hosted by a church but there is no sermon/message and it's held in one of their adjacent buildings not the church itself so a bit more inviting/comfortable for those kids who have feelings about churches - it's just a place for the kids to hang out and do all the things you listed.

I'll bet pretty common! Sometimes a med like beta blockers can cause the need.

Well, my ex was 46, and maybe he was taking it without me knowing but he did not need it.
He also clearly is a narcissist with a sex addiction.

Oh my heart ❤️
He will love seeing you there. I hope things turn around for him.
Tomorrow was supposed to be a do over of a day trip we had planned earlier in the month that got canceled but I don’t think we are going to make it since there is apparently a tropical cyclone heading our way!
I don’t want my weekend highlight to be today’s midday Covid shot at Target lol but it sounds like it’s going to be really gross out so it just might! Last time we had weather like this all the traffic lights went out and it was Mad Max out there.
I signed the kids up for an event at the library tomorrow and I think I am more excited than they are - it's WhaleMobile, a life size inflatable whale that you can go inside of!
Other than that all of our weekend plans involve being outside, where it will be 60 degrees and raining....whomp whomp

STBXH (that's so long to type out) didn't need it most of the time. He never had a rx or anything, but there were times that he wouldn't be able to get completely hard. Usually those were when I was obviously just there to placate him, so I couldn't necessarily blame him.
He's signing the paperwork today for an apartment but won't move out until tomorrow (per my urging). DS has a baseball game at 7:45 tonight, so it's just silly to worry about it all. But OMG, the whiny texts are so annoying. He's actually making it all easier b/c I have no patience for it. Stop telling me you're sorry. Stop telling me you hope I find the happiness I deserve. Just STOP.
He actually sent me a picture of the lease and said that he had really hoped I was doing this to scare him. So, the 3 months I made you move out in 2021 didn't produce any change, but just asking you to leave and find a place was what I thought would work this time? That tracks...
blondemoment123 how old is your DS? My DS used to tell me that no one wanted to play with him at recess, but in reality it was that no one wanted to play what HE wanted to play. In his little kid head it was the same thing.
Hopefully the teachers can help get him more involved if that is what he wants, but I totally get the heartbreak of finding out your kid is feeling left out so big hugs to you!

Things not to forget on your holiday - your HRT. I remembered my pack for last week but forgot the new pack for this week. Holy hell - the pain, the heaviness, the lack of sleep, the puffiness, etc. All the reasons why I decided to take HRT are hitting me hard right now. I cannot wait until my period is done - I'm freaking 54 - why body, why?!!!

We are going to Billy Joel/Stevie Nicks tomorrow night at Gillette Stadium but we have a stupid tropical storm remnant moving through and I'm pissed! We are having a bunch of friends over to pre-game since we live just a few miles from there, so I'm just going to wear my fleece-lined poncho and rain boots and hope for the best, I guess. Who knows what will happen, last week there was a big to do about the remnants of Hurricane Lee and it was barely a thing. I ordered a sturdy poncho for H that's supposed to arrive tomorrow, I just hope it's before we leave for the show.
@sameoldstory - my H is 50 and he doesn't need it. His drive isn't as high as mine so it's not like we're doing it constantly, so maybe that helps in the sense that when he's ready he's ready, you know?
Post by starburst604 on Sept 22, 2023 8:14:13 GMT -5
@sameoldstory I think it's common at that age. H is 47 and doesn't need it but he's not on beta blockers or anything that might contribute to it and he's overall a big old hornball lol. But he has friends his age that do use it.
