I don't have a lot of business wear. I'm a software developer/manager who has been working remotely since Covid. But I'm also 41 and may be looking for a new job soon which means interviews and feel like I should pick up some nicer basics.
Facebook keeps showing me the Melanie jacket from French Mauve and I'm tempted but figured I'd see if anyone had any other favorites.
I've got narrow shoulders but a larger chest. I have diastasis recti so tight at the waist or abdomen is no-go.
If you want to go more economical, I was in Old Navy this weekend and they have some cute ones, too. If I am doing a trendy or bright colored blazer I go more economical, but for a classic I go J Crew outlet.
Petite blazers work best on me. My favorites are from Nordstrom. I'm still wearing the black blazer I bought when I was interviewing for jobs out of college 20 years ago!
Agreed. I bought the Melanie by French Mauve at a thrift shop without knowing it's a popular brand. I like it, but it's definitey more like a polished cardigan. I only knew what it was because I googled it hoping to get it in another color, then was shocked because it's not worth $100-150.
I've purchased some Anne Klein open blazers from Marshalls that are comfortable and can easliy flex into a business professional environment. I'm wearing one for a conference presentation this friday.

I really love the blazers from White House Black Market, and they have a lot of coordinating separates. They aren’t cheap but you can find coupons easily. My closet is full of WHBM blazers - they’re my go-to now!
