I think it was karinonothing (sorry) who posted recently how someone reached out to her about her mom to say some kind words about her from when she was young. It really got me thinking about how people should do that more often because you never know what it could mean to someone. So it inspired me to send a message to an old manager of mine. I looked up National Boss Day and it’s in October so I’m going to do it then. I don’t think I’ve ever told him that he changed my life (20 yrs ago) and I’m forever grateful for the help he gave me and teaching me to stand up for myself.
If you are inspired to do the same it would be great!

That’s a good idea! I’ll try to think of someone.
I logged in to Facebook for the first time in about 5 years recently. A previous patient of mine had messaged me and said sorry if this is weird but I’ve been in therapy like you suggested and stuck with it and am doing really well and expressed how much I had helped her.
It really meant a lot to know I had left a positive lasting impression for her.
I so, so agree. We had a post on here recently and people were mentioning different people that had affected their lives in big and small ways that making lasting impacts. Reach out to those people and tell them, those words could be so impactful for them too.
When I start to feel weird about doing something like this, I try to reverse the situation and reflect on how it would make me feel if someone did that for me. I figure if it would make me feel great, then there’s nothing to feel awkward about in expressing appreciation for someone else.
