I know you all just LOVE when I start a thread like this pre-Halloween
Anyway, C (10) has asked for a digital camera. She knows a phone is no where in her near future and wants to be able to take pictures and then look at them like on a phone. Does anyone have a recommendation? She does not want an instax/polaroid type thing. She wants something small and light like a phone that she can put in a LLL belt bag.
Also, feel free to chime in with any gift questions or ideas you may have.

We bought C this Polaroid camera that’s basically like a GoPro, but I’m not sure if that’s what you’re looking for. Maybe just get an old/used iPhone (SE or similar) with a decent camera and use it for taking pictures without activating the cellular capability?
Polaroid Dual Screen WiFi Action Camera 4K 18mp, Waterproof Sports Polaroid Camera with Built in Rechargeable Battery and Mounting Accessories for Vlogging, Sports, Traveling, Home Videos a.co/d/5WAI7sy
C (9.5) wants a new scooter, some Lego sets, and a PS5. The scooter and the legos are easy, I’m not sure about the PS5 (especially when we have a perfectly fine XboxOne), but he’s really not asking for a lot, so maybe we’ll consider it.
I preordered Kid #1 an Inter Miami Messi jersey when MLSStore.com had their presale last month so that'll probably be his "big" gift from us. Those things aren't cheap! We may also do some sporting event tickets-thankfully between college and pro sports there's a decent amount of sports that he enjoys going to that are pretty close by.
Kid #2...hmmm. Probably that ridiculously sized Bluey house because she loves that stuff, and I don't know what else.
I have a digital canon camera that also has a printer. It’s like 10 years old but still works. You could look at something like that?
I need all the ideas I can get for my almost 13 year old. She wants nothing. She is not at all interested in makeup or shoes and has prescription skincare so it’s tough!
DS1 (8.5) is talking up a backyard trampoline. Their neighbor friends a couple houses down have a spring-free trampoline and our house's previous owners had a trampoline so there is a trampoline-sized empty circle in our backyard grass. (We moved in July.) I'd get a spring-free brand one if we got one, but I'm torn. I want the kids outside and off screens, but I am also not a fan of the injury risk.

Ugh don’t remind me. We still have a birthday to figure out this month. 🤣 I am going small this Christmas. 10 year dd still wants toys but she never plays with them, and they end up just collecting dust. I may get her one or two small toys, plus some stuff for dance and a game. Dd1, 14, is getting skin care and makeup supplies, clothes she picks out, and maybe a new lacrosse stick. Her 14th bday is this month- she wants Nike dunks for that.
The amazon gift catalog came in the mail already and I was shocked thinking it was WAY too early.
At the same time, H bought one of DD1's big gifts because it was on sale at Costco (Hogwarts castle Lego set).
DD2's birthday is this weekend, I need to get through that before I roll straight into Xmas planning. This time of year is exhausting: BTS, birthdays, Halloween, Thanksgiving and Xmas so quick together! I need a break.
lessel I have four kids, including three insane boys ages 9, 6, and 3, and the trampoline has been a non-issue for us injury-wise. We've had it for 3 years now and it still gets used a lot. We didn't get spring-free because it was so much more expensive. Knocking on wood in case I jinx myself of course. It's really nice when the kids are trying to wrestle each other inside, or just need to get some energy out, and we can send them to the trampoline. I figure way more ER visits are attributed to bikes than trampolines, and we think the advantages of bikes in terms of exercise outweigh those risks (with a helmet on bikes of course, but head injuries aren't a major source of trampoline injuries). Obviously everyone thinks about these types of trade-offs differently.
I've bought a couple small things for DH. He's obsessed with gardening and growing dragon fruit specifically, so I got him some stuff for that.
11-year-old DD wants a suitcase of her own, and Sephora/Ulta gift cards. Some new softball batting gloves.
9-year-old DS1 is getting the Cut in Half book someone recommended on MM Moms.
DH is extending his YouTube Premium subscription to the kids so they can watch without ads, and I think they'll think it's amazing. Also, I'm getting the kids a toaster. We have a toaster oven, but when we stay in vacation rentals, they like to put their bagel or waffle in the slot and have it pop up.
Obviously I have some work to do on coming up with gifts. I need to think about what to get my little boys. They have seemingly every possible toy and device already from having two big siblings.
I'm pretty sure DD (12) will be getting a laptop. Our old desktop that works just fine doesn't voice type or have a camera and DD seems to need both of these for school projects and the schools aren't 1-1 so kids can't bring home the Chromebook from school. Other than that I have no clue and I need to figure something out or get DD to figure things out because my entire family has been bugging me for months already.
I've started shopping/have ideas items stuck into my Amazon wish list for later for other people.

DD has a birthday the middle of this month, so we went ahead and started shopping for her Christmas gifts too. She is getting a new tablet (it's light blue) with matching pen and a Lego Friends movie theater set. Will get her books and one other gift.
DS1 Garmin watch for running, new keyboard, tickets to a local NFL game.
Don't remind me, haha! I am not as far ahead in my gift shopping as I'd like to be, but I have some gifts for everyone and a $100 Amazon gift card I've tucked away for Prime Day (or whatever they call it) next week. I do have lists for everyone, so it's just a matter of getting everything. My husband and son have December birthdays as well just to add to the fun.
My 8 year old wants a bunch of Rainbow High dolls and lego sets. She went through the Amazon toy book and also now wants the Amazon exclusive Bluey convertible set.
DS (8) wants Pokemon cards and the Bazooka bubble gun, he will also get the TMNT pizza van, a new bag for baseball, and some lego stuff DD (10) wants stuff for her room like fairy light vines, fluffy blankets, etc. She is at that tween stage where everything has to be cute, so a trip to Claire's should take care of most of her gifts. She will also get a Starbucks GC, which I'm sure she will be VERY excited for.
A friend of ours always goes waaay overboard with gifts and he just dropped off stuff he had for their bdays and LAST Christimas....omg. I am having a hard time with the idea of buying even more stuff when they truly need nothing.

I'm starting to gather ideas and adding to an Amazon wish list I keep ongoing. DS1 (10) wants a WiiU and DH found one on ebay that he is refurbing. DS2(7) is easy and just wants Legos and Switch games. DD1(7) wants her own Switch Lite.
So far I grabbed a Mario Lego Donkey Kong set at Target this week while they had their spend $50 on Lego, get a $10 gift card.
I have a digital canon camera that also has a printer. It’s like 10 years old but still works. You could look at something like that?

Does she have hobbies? At 13 I really enjoyed having pretty journals & pens where I would complain about evvvveeerrryyyyybbbooodddyyy. It’s funny to remember using rainbow gel pens really while describing how my bff totally backstabbed me & my parents are lame.
And books! So many books.
Is her room teenaged? Would some decor to spruce it up be welcome?
does she wear jewelry? Blue Nile has some quality items that aren’t insanely priced
is there an experience she’s interested in? A special exhibit at a local museum? A sporting event? A play?
The big downside of streaming is go tos like movies & music are pretty much out.

She uses more as a video camera to record Get Ready with Me videos (that go nowhere, but she doesn't care). It has been a top toy for both her and my 6 year old as well. The tripod twists off so it can fit in a pocket or bag more easily.
Ha! I was just thinking about this thread. Poor hermione, you got so much shit for starting this the last few years. I love these threads!
My kids both have birthdays between now and Christmas, so this thread helps me with both. Plus I have to give ideas to family for both of my kids, so I just keep adding everything that looks interesting to an Amazon list.
Random Ideas - who knows if it will be birthday/Christmas
DS (turning 10 in 2 weeks) Youtuber Merch Pokemon Cards Skateboard Switch Games - Lego Harry Potter and Pokemon Roblox Gift Cards Ice Cream Maker Baby Yoda mini waffle maker Chess set Fidgets Lego sets?
DD (turning 8 next month) Slime stuff Lava Lamp Aqua Beads Gynmastic Tumble Track Paint your own Squishy set Youtuber Merch Roblox Gift Cards Claires Gift Cards Earrings (she got them pierced a few months ago and can finally change them now) Lego Sets?
DD has a birthday the middle of this month, so we went ahead and started shopping for her Christmas gifts too. She is getting a new tablet (it's light blue) with matching pen and a Lego Friends movie theater set. Will get her books and one other gift.
DS1 Garmin watch for running, new keyboard, tickets to a local NFL game.
S will be getting a guiness book of world records for one of his Hanukah gifts for sure. He is obsessed with asking us about world records, lol.
he desperately needs a new tablet and a few sweatshirts. He is super into minecraft and legos so I am sure we will do something with that, but I am trying to not go overboard this year.
Other ideas we have for her are: bluetooth earbuds (she asked for AirPods, we told her that we will consider that for her July birthday once she has shown us that she can keep up with earbuds) Dance Dot (will almost certainly get this for her, she doesn't have a hard surface for practicing at home) Dance socks Crochet Kit new Apple Watch band Stanley Beauty Blender (I'll probably go grab the set at Costco this week)
