I was thinking of getting a cordless vacuum "for Christmas" for DH & I. Costco has the Dyson V10 Animal for $400. Now Amazon is offering the Dyson v15 Detect for $600...that's a lot more, but it seems to be higher rated.

My parents have one that is a couple years old. I haven't been that impressed. Battery life is short, it can't handle bigger chunks (popcorn), and it's not very wide so it takes a lot of back and forth.
I love cleaning gadgets and am a big Dyson fan but theirs doesn't do it for me. Some people love them though.
I didn’t do anything for now. I felt like I wasn’t ready to pull the trigger, especially on the more expensive model. But I think it would be nice to have one so I’m going to keep looking around.
Like Susie I have the Shark equivalent, it's cheaper and I'm pretty happy with it. We have a Roomba that runs daily, but our cleaners use the Shark when they clean, and we use it for things like cat litter spills or the fuse beads we can't get with a broom.
ETA I bought two batteries, because it sounded like we might need them from the reviews. But the cleaners never even use up a whole battery. Still it's nice to have in case we ever forget to charge one.

We have the dyson v 8 and love it. It’s 3 years old and still going strong. The battery life is getting shorter now. I think a 10 would be perfectly sufficient 😀
