librarychica DS3 pukes before we get in the car. So he’s fine on the flight - nonissue watching a tablet for most of six hours - then pukes like 20 minutes after we get off the flight but before we get in the car. And only on flights over 3 hours. It’s so weird!.
callmekd we’re going on a boat ride tomorrow. I just ordered motion sickness meds
sdlaura, maybe he’s like sailors who feel like the land is rocking when they got off the boat. So it’s the motion stopping that’s throwing off his inner ears.I would guess motion sickness meds would work?
Our family swears by the motion sickness glasses for car rides. Including me. I look like an idiot in them, but I’m not wasting multiple hours of prime reading time for the sake of vanity! Wonder if the concept works for planes too?
campermom, the district agreed to assess her. Finally. Apparently putting her reading scores from last year and this year in writing, along with the ranges and asking the school psychologist to correct my interpretation that the scores say she's behind grade level when he keeps asserting that she's not made a difference. Or maybe something else did, I don't know. But they agreed.
We are actually seeing some improvement after starting the ADHD drugs on her willingness to read, so I'm holding out hope that it was more her lack of focus causing issues vs. a disorder. But either way, the assessment should give us some more insight vs. just ignoring it, so hopefully a win/win scenario.
I do have to say, I really like her teacher and the things she is doing to support DD in class. I wish we'd had someone like her in the last few years, but it wasn't meant to be, I guess. 2nd grade we had an awful teacher that was checked out - had already handed in her notice - combined with online school, which was a terrible combo, 3rd a first year teacher who really did a decent job, but was handed a whole heck of a lot to deal with and (to be expected and entirely reasonably) inexperienced (she also quit), and 4th we had a teacher who had too much going on in his personal life (took a leave of absence to try to deal with it, also quit).
