katfco I’m so glad you’re getting answers but I’m so sorry you’re going through it!
DS1 and I are off school today. I told him it would be a “yes” day. He said, “but within reason? Like we can’t go to Japan…” 🤣
So far we ordered in breakfast from his favorite place because he wanted to stay in his jammies. Then he wanted to play on the computer. And now his BFF from down the street is over and they’re hanging out in the family room.

I'm getting retargeted ads for alcohol gift packages for the holidays, probably due to the gift thread. Thankfully I hope to maaaybe only have 1 - 2 (insert whatever you call it) swap this year fingers crossed. DH also runs in to this where his coworkers are kind enough to give gift cards in Dec, but then 1. DH looks like a jerk because he doesn't give any gifts/cards thinking no one will either, 2. he ends up with like 5 coffee gift cards and everyone could have just saved the money, 3. if you don't get a gift card you gift another junk item in the theme of this job. We have plenty of bottle openers, water bottles, key chains and such, just save the money and no gifts. Bah hum-bug
rubytue , the last time I had a sinus infection I was told that I have to suffer for 10 days before the doc will prescribe antibiotics. They didn't say that, of course, they said something like "self care for 10 days." But it basically felt like they were telling me to suffer for 10 days.
Yes, I have 10 days in my head. Which is why I did a video dr appointment on day 10. Only to be told it’s 14 days now. 😫

It's inventory counting day at work. I've been here since 6 am. I hope to leave around 4 pm, but we'll see. I'm just hopefully we don't all have to come back tomorrow. Compared to the last job, this is great. This is the first time I've worked longer than 8 hours. I can flex my hours next week to make up for it, even though I'm salary. They paid for lunch and fully expect us to take lunch and other breaks.

I'm going to a show tonight called Buffy Revamped. Here's how it's described: In this fast-paced new production we bring you the entire 144 episodes of the hit 90s TV show, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, as told through the eyes of the one person who knows it inside out… Spike.
Funny, satirical and bursting with 90s pop-culture references, it’s the perfect parody for Buffy aficionados and those who never enrolled at Sunnydale High alike.
I went to the doctor on Wednesday because I was afraid my cold was turning into a sinus infection. She was not convinced and wanted me to give it a few more days of self care, which is fine. But she said she would send over a script for antibiotics, but I got a good talking to about waiting til the weekend to pick them up, and only if needed. Fine. So I’m waiting. But dude, the frigging pharmacy hasn’t even filled it yet. Last time I needed a refill, it took over a week and three trips to the pharmacy (because they won’t answer the phone). And I’m just sitting here thinking what if I actually needed something now. WTH?!
And with that, I’m officially looking for a new pharmacy. I’ve heard good things about the Costco pharmacy. I liked I could walk to this one, but I just can’t deal with it. And yes, I knows it’s not the pharmacist’s fault. It’s corporate killing them.
If the pharmacy is a CVS down the street from the high school and next to the recently renovated Starbucks, they have gone down hill. We used to get our prescriptions there and switched. They would text us saying our Rx was ready but when we showed up to get it, they made us wait while they filled it. The worst was when we'd waited in the drive thru line only to be told to come back in 20 minutes.
Thanks all. We were discharged exactly 12 hours after arriving. Her CT scan was normal, which is good. They've referred her for an OT eval. The instructions are to follow up with her current team--which unfortunately includes the neurologist who initially didn't believe her. Part of the problem is that it comes and goes, so she sometimes is more talkative than others, so it seems like she's psyching herself into the symptoms.
The dr gave me a website that lists the symptoms and more information about FND, and as we were going through the symptoms, it described everything she has been dealing with for the last 10 months.
Of course, she really can't catch a break, because the POTS clinic at Children's hospital is closing. There really is just 1 pediatric cardiologist who specializes in POTS in the entire state and we were fortunate enough to see him and his nurse practitioner. Sadly, he is leaving and there are no plans to hire someone else so they're shutting the program down. Now, the only places in the state with POTS clinics are both 2+ hours away. I've also heard they're really difficult to get into. She'll still be followed by cardiology, but not by a specialist.
We're already talking about the possibility of her having to repeat 11th grade.

My kids have asked for a "yes day" before and I told them no. I didn't trust them enough for that.
I mean sauce, like marinara. All these grape jelly and other ideas is very strange to me lol.
There are many different kinds of things labeled "sauce", including tons that aren't marinara or Italian Teriyaki sauce, soy sauce, fish sauce, oyster sauce, and BBQ are just the ones off the top of my head that I have in my fridge. When I've made these as an app in the past I've definitely done BBQ sauce! I think the grape jelly ones are mixed with some kind of chili sauce.
Not trying to be saucy with my comment, but you may want to broaden your definition of the word lol.

There is a house near me that has their outdoor Christmas decor up. I’m not judging, do whatever makes you happy. What I do find a bit odd is that until early this week they had outdoor Halloween decor up. So they took their Halloween decorations down before Halloween to put up Christmas decor.
Did they put it up or did they have someone do it? There's a house at the beginning of my parents neighborhood that had their roof lights and big wreaths professionally done in early Oct because it saved a decent bit of $. They're not on yet, but you can't miss them in the daylight.
katfco, I hope you guys can get some answers and go home and get some rest soon!
The Christmas decor is sparse - just lights around the windows (not roof/gutters) and a few inflatables, so I highly doubt it was hired out.
Those who shop at ALdi's - they are starting to bring out their xmas 'decor in the Aisle of shame. Now how do I know this? Because I just spent my morning driving to 4 different Aldi's looking for something.
I needed a break from schoolwork and apparently hunting down stuff for my cousin is how I decompress.

You got me there! Don't even get me started on when people call marinara "gravy" and expect people to know what you mean.
I actually found the fall decorations I bought in December at 1/2 price (I bought them after the season). I am very bad at buying anything seasonal and then I feel a little bad that I don’t have anything seasonal.
I swear that I manifested finding the bag with pure rage & promises that I would never shop clearance sales again.
I always envision people with decorating skills doing so with warmth and birds chirping. Maybe there is more rage behind it than I realize.

My mother used to make the chili sauce and grape jelly meatballs and serve them over egg noodles. I found a recipe for making them in the crockpot with frozen meatballs which I have a bag of so I am going to make them this week.
Today MH is going with a bunch of friends and then going out to dinner. DS is going to the football game so I am going to go food shopping to get it done. Tomorrow is hockey, DS working and then a halloween party and Sunday I am hoping will be low key.

I was on a tour for work yesterday and cried in the elevator in front of all my coworkers and our hosts.
I am terrified of elevators and avoid them when I can. I had asked if I could take the stairs and was told it was really far up, then the tour guide proceeded to joke for almost the entire ride about getting stuck and not being able to get out. Cue the panic attack and tears. Thankfully my manager saw me, tried to comfort me and allowed me to take the stairs down.
Someone in my life replies “Okay” to text messages and it feels so rude.
Would you rather they not respond at all? Do you prefer a thoughtful response?
I’m the okay person. That’s why I ask
It feels abrupt, since tone is so hard to read over text. I think “okay sure” or “sounds good!” or “that’s fine” or “that works” all make it more clear that things are actually fine and that the person isn’t put out or agreeing reluctantly

I was pretty mortified.
I’m really sorry, that’s terrible. I also truly hate elevators.
