I had a pumpkin yesterday and was really disappointed. The chocolate was really thick. And then I had another one, just to see if maybe the first one was weird. LOL. And it was the same. Bummer! So now I'm antsy to try an egg next spring to see if it's the same; the egg was always my favorite, followed by the regular cups. But if the chocolate coating is the same on the egg as it was on the pumpkin, I'll have to amend my ranking and put the regular cup in first place.
The shapes are superior to the standard cups. I don’t have a favorite shape, but pumpkins are probably my least favorite. And the tiny foil wrapped cups are inferior to the regular cups. But put a bowl in front of me and oh I will still eat them.

Oh no. I didn’t have a pumpkin this season so this is news to me. I hope they didn’t change the coating. I’ll keep it in mind when I have a tree this year. But I admire your dedication by having a second one for quality control purposes. Lol.

I think the holiday shapes are perfection. The OGs, not the minis. For me it's egg, pumpkin, heart, tree. But I'll eat them all, I don't discriminate. I like the Twix Santas too.
I'd buy PB only Reese's if I could. I've actually been debating finding a peanut butter bar recipe and making them, and using no chocolate or a very, very, very thin layer of dark chocolate. The problem is that I'm the only one in my house that really likes peanut butter (and yes, the others are all wrong).

This is a great question, and I'm so glad it was asked. I think way too much about proportions; burger meat to bun, ice cream to chocolate coating, etc. My H thinks I'm nuts.
I love the original PB cup because there's a ridge of firm chocolate all the way around. Mini cups have the best chocolate-PB ratio.
Seasonal shapes so not have any firm ridges akin to the original design. Given a choice of a seasonal shape (I have a mini ghost on my desk at this exact moment) and a traditional cup, I'll choose the cup every time.
That being said, I'll eat the inferior ones any day. Even melted, or previously frozen, whatever. It's my favorite kind of candy so technically, there is no bad Reese's.
I love all the holiday shapes. They're really the only ones I eat and I never eat a regular Reese's. I, too, wish they came up with some sort of summer shape so we don't have to go April to Sept/Oct before getting another holiday shape.
I haven't seen the footballs. Do those come out in summer time?
Shapes for sure. And THE BEST EVER was shapes with Reese’s pieces in them. They were around for 2-3 years and are no more. I am so sad about it. Every holiday I get excited when the shapes come out, thinking maybe they’ll be back, but no luck.
And the ridges suck, so IF I must suffer through a regular ol’ cup, that’s the first to get eaten. Then the chocolate/pb ratio is ideal (just the thin top and bottom).
I find the specialty shapes have too much peanut butter/sugar goo vs the amount of chocolate. They feel too sweet to me.
I make my own faux Reese's squares as Christmas gifts and tend to use a mix of milk and semi sweet chocolate chips so I can get the chocolate bitterness I need to fight back on the cloying peanut butter sweetness.
