I'm reading Wayward. I have Co-worker checked out, but haven't started it. I know how to snow ski but I do it so seldom that I forget, so I always take the lessons. I never got up when trying to water ski.
Last night I finished The Invited by Jennifer McMahon. I was my last "scary" read for October. I went into it with low expectations and still ended up disappointed. The premise was interesting and it held my interest despite some pretty mediocre writing. Unfortunately, it went off the rails near the end just so it could have a surprise twist that made zero sense. It also totally disregarded a significant plot point from earlier in the book for absolutely no reason. It went from a 4 star to 2 star rating in the last 20% of the book.
QOTW: I've only snow skied once, when I was a kid, but I never really got the hang of it. I'm uncoordinated and don't have great balance so it's not really my kind of sport.
I am currently reading The Remains of the Day by Kazuo Ishiguro. I am hoping to finish it tonight so I can start on Sisters Under the Rising Sun.
QOTW: I learned how to do both, but I haven't done either in quite a few years. I don't think it is like riding a bike so I am not quite sure how graceful I would look at this point. I spent a lot of time in the water a couple years ago trying to teach my kids to water ski, but I don't think it is for them. They prefer to knee board and ride around on the tube.
I’m reading Starter Villain by John Scalzi, which is entertaining and not taxing for my poor stressed brain this week (this weekend is full of awesomeness, but the mental prep did me in — very glad it’s finally here to enjoy it!).
QOTW: I have never tried either. I’ve had the opportunity to water ski but I didn’t want to.
Almost done with Ink Blood Sister Scribe. I'm liking it.
QOTW: I've (snow) skied a couple times but I really didn't like the chair lift (heights 😬) so left me on the bunny hill, which of course got boring. I also tried snowboarding. Not much of a winter outdoors person! As for water skiing, never tried it. I'm a wimp tubing because I hate the potential of flying off. So water skiing doesn't really interest me, lol.

Finished Dracul and Cruel Illusions. Dracul was a great spooky season read. I didn't like the MC in Cruel Illusions - too much of a damsel in distress, not enough of a badass.
Started listening to A Touch of Moonlight which seems like "The Shop Around the Corner" with ciguapas, but the writing feels really juvenile.
Started reading When in Rome and I'm enjoying that much more.
QOTW: Do you like to/know how to ski? Water or snow. I know how to snow ski and I really enjoy it, but mostly for the quiet and scenery. I don't enjoy speed, so I'm the slowest skier ever.
I actually read a book last week! 🥳🤣 The In-Between - Unforgettable Encounters During Life’s Final Moments by Hadley Vlahos, RN. I saw it mentioned in one of the daily NYT emails and thought it sounded like something I would like. It was written by a hospice nurse and was sweet, a little funny and a little sad.
I have water skied as a teenager and snow skied again the last couple of winters after a 20 year hiatus. They are fun but both require significant effort just to get to the point of skiing! My husband has a blown out knee so we have avoided it for a long time but since my kids are older now I have been trying to take them so they have memories of it anyway.
