Has anyone seen any fun ones this year? I'm specifically looking for one for my 9 year old who doesn't really like legos, toys or chocolate. He loves sports and I was hoping to get a NFL funko or teenymates one that I saw, but now they're sold out everywhere. I'm not interested in a diy one because I've already found ones for my other kids.
For my other kids I've gotten a Lego City, LOL Dolls, and a Nintendo Switch one.
Can I use this thread to give a plug for the Kiwi Crate Advent Calendars? We have loved them two years in a row. The kid build a different part of a "scene" each day - Santa's Train Station for example. They are super cute and C could mostly do it independently at both 8 and 9 years old. I would have absolutely gotten another one this year but my mom got her a bracelet making one.
Also my annual plug for the Jacquie Lawson online Advent calendar, if you want some thing more traditional and very Christmas-su. The kids and I do it together every year and it’s beautiful and relaxing. It has interactive things you can do, and a Christmas village that lights up more and more as the season progresses. Includes both church scenes, and Santa, FYI.
(this is not for the sports obsessed nine year old boy. Just a general recommendation.)

can you take it apart to reuse? Or what did you do with it after?

I put the building in one of our 8 million Holiday decoration tubs and just keep it all together.

Cool, never knew there were online advent calendars like this. Just ordered for DD, she will love having this to do every day.

We love this one. And I agree, it is very relaxing. My son and I do it on the couch in the evening with just the Christmas lights on. There is always some kind of fun game built in. We love it!
I'm thinking of getting an Escape Room one, but i wonder if it will feel like too much of a chore.
They aren't as flashy as the toy advent calendars, but I have to say my DD (7) loves the beautiful art calendars my aunt sends. I think she buys them from online museum gift shops and similar. We've had calendars from the National Gallery, MOMA, The Tate, the Louvre etc. They are so gorgeous so I have to put a plug in for them.
