Let's make this lateral move for H a thing that happens soon! The only thing he'll be losing is his two direct reports. He'll get out of accounting which he'd love to do because he's beyond done with monthly close.
Chop, chop! Let's make this happen,

Dear other industries,
Education hires people quickly and efficiently. Take notes and emulate that! It shouldn't need to take multiple hours long interviews and months to hire people! Education hires so.many.people in 4-6 weeks every summer. You can too (but all year round).
Dear professor, We're on week 3 of a 7 week course and you haven't graded a single assignment yet. I don't love the idea of submitting yet another 5 page paper without knowing if the past papers met your expectations and your grading style. Hopefully you reply to my email asking about this today so I can move forward more confidently. I know being a professor is probably high stress, but isn't grading things the bare minimum expectation? Signed, Annoyed student
Dear boss, I'm always really grateful for our one on ones. You're a tough boss, but fair and genuinely helpful in our conversations. This quarter didn't feel like my best and we both acknowledged the whys and how to move forward. Thanks for the support! Signed, Grateful employee
Dear DH, Christmas is exploding all over our house this weekend. Get ready. I love you. Thanks for putting up with me. Love, It's time
Bleach all the things and glove/mask up! If you have more than one bathroom, try to designate a sick bathroom and a well bathroom. We have had success in containing it in the past.
Good luck!!
Mae
ETA: Clorox/Lysol wipes do not kill norovirus. You need bleach or a cleaner made with hydrogen peroxide. Also, most hand sanitizers don’t kill it either.
Thanks for the tips. DH was so bad, he definitely contaminated all the bathrooms yesterday. I will bleach again today with gloves. I've been exposed though definitely, but still not showing symptoms yet which I am shocked about.
waverly, DH is prone to stomach bugs. I (seemingly, knock on wood) have a stomach of steel. In 18 years, he's only once passed a stomach bug on to me. It's the other way for colds - DH will sleep in bed with me when I'm sick as a dog and almost never picks it up from me... but if he even thinks he might have a cold, I end up with it.
I don’t think you’re a great fit, but it’s all going to come down to the offer. I would be giving up a really great work from home situation, possibly have to travel more, and have a really, really shitty commute 3 days a week. My days would be really long those days because of the crappy commute and the fact that you would be doing 8.5 hour days because you have a 9/80 schedule. And the work would be really, really boring. So unless you’re coming in with an awesome package, this isn’t going to work out.
But thank you for convincing me that if I want another job, I can get another job.
Signed, Hates Current Job But Thinks It Is Improving?
Thank you for being so awesome this week. Daddy is out of town and you both, especially DD, have really stepped it up with helping out! Mornings are starting earlier, since DH and I can't divide an conquer, and evenings are definitely not running like they normally would, but so far, so good.
Signed, Your tired mom
PS: I'm sure the incentive that I'm letting you earn money to buy Christmas gifts for the family has absolutely nothing to do with it. Nothing.
(I am not kidding - they've been setting their alarms for 20 minutes early so they can get up and do dishes/get breakfast ready and lunches packed while I walk the dog. That part, I wish could stay forever!)

Dear School,
We were so excited when you hired the new English teacher. Unfortunately this man went out 3 days into the school year and stayed out for an entire month (missing back to school night resulting in no presentation ever being made about his class, expectations or curriculum plans) and has now missed multiple days at a time since then. He's out right now and has been out since last wednesday.
During that time, subs have been everything from qualified teachers to the front desk receptionist. I want people to be able to be cared for, but I also want my kid to have a good foundation in a core subject. He is not getting that right now at all. Something's got to give.
mustardseed2007- I’ve been “that mom” and frankly wish I had been even more vocal. DS’s pre-k teacher was out more than she was in. The year before, she had had a very big health issue, and I think she frankly just got used to not working. The tipping point for me came when her husband deployed with the National Guard to a natural disaster zone for 60 days and she took off the first two week to “help her daughters adjust.” Her daughters were in high school. And he was only gone for 60 days. And not to a war zone. As a result, DS’s ADHD and social issues weren’t identified until kindergarten because no teacher saw him long enough to know he was having issues. And when we would ask her things like “does he play with other kids at recess” we got a hand waving “oh sure, he’s great.” He was decidedly not great.
Dear MIL, We would love to come hang out with you this weekend. And we appreciate you trying to find activities to do with the kids. But your nine year old grandson is probably not the target audience for the historical fashion exhibit at the fine arts museum. Maybe we can just stick with the very kid friendly science museum instead? Love, Son and DIL
Oh wow. You’re going to make this a tough decision, aren’t you? Minimal travel, more flexibility than I thought. We might be closer on the money than I thought. Great retirement. And retirement health insurance? Hmmmm. The shit commute might be worth it.
Signed, Intrigued
Dear Recruiter,
I’m glad to have you since I could ask these very pointed questions to an intermediary instead of the actual hiring manager. And I’m glad you could get the answers for me.

Dear children,
How many years have we owned this dog? And how many years has she had no chill around food? Please don’t leave abandoned dishes laying around the house when you leave for school.
Love, The woman who just cleaned up a shattered snowman mug because the dog was desperate to get that last lick of smoothie
Dear work,
I am counting down to my 10 days off in December. Ten blissful days.

mommyatty, we may need to go to private high school and our school does not go up to high school, which means my kid is going to need to take the ISEE in the not too distant future, and he doesn't have a functional English teacher. I'm low level freaking out. I'm sure I'm not the only one.
mustardseed2007, we had kind of a similar issue when my kids took the ISEE last year. They were not struggling academically, but the math program at their old school was so incredibly poor that they were really behind - especially DD1 because the middle school math program was abhorrent.
I found a tutor with ISEE tutoring experience AND academic tutoring experience. I spoke to him in advance and said that both kids had ADHD, DD1 has strong NVLD tendencies, neither one struggled with the concepts, but they hadn't seen most of what they needed for the test. I needed him to teach the subject more than I needed him to teach tips and tricks for the test. He said he understood and did a decent job with DD1 (terrible job with DD2, but that was a personality thing).
Most tutors kind of specialize in test taking OR academics, so it will be important to find someone that can teach both.
Dear payroll clients Please behave yourself next week and follow directions. I really need to take some time off and Tue-Fri next week just makes the most sense. tax lady
Dear DH Will you please start listening to DD and me. I said we were dog sitting Thanksgiving week way back in June when D asked us. I remind you last week as it is coming up and you get all pissed. DD even admitted that I said something after this dogs last visit but she at least admitted forgetting about it. You complain you don't know what is going on but lets be real you don't listen or pay attention because if it doesn't involve you it isn't important to you. cranky wife
Why do you use words in writing/emails that you would never use in real life. No one has *ever* said the phrase "let's discuss post meeting." Quit trying to be fancy.
Signed, Person who doesn't think it makes you sound more professional or sophisticated. Especially when you misuse a phrase like "et al" or my favorite... "visa-visay"
Ha k3am, that's something I would say in real life, and would also write
Dear company,
You're seriously going to change/add an in person day this week, during a holiday week when schools are closed? And not let us know until after business hours on Friday? Why? The only thing you accomplished was seriously pissing off your employees.
