DD1, who is 9, desperately wants an Apple watch. We said no, and her backup request is a Fitbit (or the equivalent). I'd love to find a deal, but even more important is knowing which one to get. I know nothing. Any suggestions? Thanks!
What does she want it for? Specifically for activity tracking?
C has a Gabb watch, and uses it when he’s out playing with friends to stay in touch with us (we can track him and call/text). It does have a step counter but I don’t have it set up for him because I honestly don’t think kids need to be tracking steps.
A lot of elementary schools don’t allow smart watches during school hours (they can wear to and from school, but have to keep them powered off and in their backpack during the instructional day) so if you do get one you should check the school policy before letting her wear it to school.
Really good point about school. She seems to think they're allowed since her friend wears one, but I need to ask.
She likes wearing a watch and probably wants to pretend she has a fancy one that can do more than tell time. (Another friend has an Apple watch for ease of communication with her parents about her blood sugar.) We've vetoed most of what she's asked for, so I'm grasping at straws, trying to grant at least one of her wishes; but I don't want to get her something she can't use just to check a box. I'm sure I can find some other things that will excite her.
Is there any point in holding out for a deal from Lululemon? DD requested black leggings and a cropped jacket in white. I don't know that I've ever seen a discount except on discontinued colors.

Do NOT get a Gizmo watch. It was a POS, and we hated it.

Ditto. They are super annoying and I should have listened to everyone who said they were. I'll call one kid, and his watch doesn't ring. I'll call the other kid who is sitting next to him and his will ring. The charge sucks. If verizon doesn't cover where you mostly are, it will never have service.

Download the app. The early access BF sale is open on the app now and surprisingly there are black leggings.
I’ve started putting in an ornament that matches something about the year. What they are into, an accomplishment, whatever. That way when they have their own place & tree, they have some sentimental, special ornaments. My mom did that for me & I loved having more than just whatever I could get cheaply for my first tree in my first apt! its definitely mostly a long-game appreciation strategy but I did notice my 13yo scoping out ornaments & giving me hints on ones he liked best so maybe they secretly enjoy it?
Anywho, the boxes take up space too!
Aside from consumables, for older kids I sometimes do magazines, stuff they lose all the time (mittens, carabiner clips), and socks (either silly everyday socks or slipper socks)
Will Stanley tumblers go on sale? My bff has been eyeing one.
Target had games on sale this weekend so I picked some up for gifts.
There are a few on sale at their website, but not the cup everyone is carrying. My credit card had 10% cash back on them and Rakuten had 10% cash back on them, so that helps
ISO gross motor activity gift for my nephews who are 3 and 1. I am considering a Rody horse, which I remember being chatted about frequently back on the Bump when my DD was a toddler, but I don’t actually know anyone who has one these days. Maybe they’re not popular anymore? Any suggestions for indoor gross motor play?

We got Rodys when the kids were toddlers. They are 8 and 10 and they still occasionally pull it out to hop around on. Big hit.
David wants computer parts as his big gift and Micro Center is having a lot of great sales if you're looking for anything like that. They had sales this past week so H got his gift yesterday, but they're supposed to have great Black Friday deals as well. But for the love of god, order ahead and pick up. H said that place was a fucking chaotic madhouse so he ordered from within the store then waited 20 minutes to pick it up, lol.
We used Rody horses for years and years! Big hit with any kids who come over. I highly recommend.
We have the original smaller size. That one was totally awesome. We also got the bigger one with a higher weight limit when my kids grew, because they used the small one so much. That one is a little more awkward, and I would say, not quite as fun, but it definitely does still get used a lot once they are over the weight limit for the little one.

My aunt did this for me growing up, and now they are some of my most treasured ornaments. Now my mom does the same thing for my kids but does an ornament every year based on their Halloween costume. The kids LOVE it.

We've been happy with DSs GABB watch. They are 50% off right now.
I miss my kids being little and “cheap”. I’m trying to set their expectations this year that based on what they’ve asked for, they could end up with like 2 presents each.
I don’t have a problem buying name brands and quality things, but DS (11) especially isn’t the greatest at taking care of things. But, of course he wants AirPods. And Air Force Ones or Jordan’s or some shit. He’ll lose an AirPod within a week and his foot size hasn’t changed in a year, so he’s WAY overdue.
But, more responsible DD (13) want’s AirPods too, so how do I get one the real thing and one a knockoff?
I did get him a pair of real Pit Vipers for his birthday, but will barely let him wear them anywhere, so what’s the point, lol.
All that to say, Target has a sale in AirPods and Pros (which OF COURSE is what DD wants because the regular ones make her ears hurt. For over a $100 difference, I want to tell her to suck it up buttercup!
My teen and my 9 year old got JLab ear buds as an alternate and the teen says he actually likes how they feel in his ear better than the AirPods. They are about $30. I highly recommend them.
We got them as a season ticket holder gift from our local sports team one year and haven't looked back. They lasted a few years before they died and when they did, we just replaced them with the updated version last Christmas.
Oura Rings are significantly on sale ($30-$100 off), and I have a few $40 off referral codes to give out. Not sure if they stack, but if they do, that’s an amazing deal.

I tried to get my mom on board so this is her go-to gift but she's weirdly uninterested!!

I need tons for my reno - ugh, BF + decision fatigue is a bad combo. Hoping to snag appliances, faucets, and lighting. Maybe hardware....but that feels like too much.
