- Gloves for weightlifting - Flip flops - A few items for showering (shampoo/conditioner/soap, a comb, etc).
That’s pretty much it. If I know I’m going to shower and change for work, I throw a towel and my makeup kit (small, lol) in with my clothes. The toiletries are all travel size and it’s easier to just have those live in my bag.
It's been awhile since I've gone to the gym, but it was some combo of the following:
- clean street clothes or workout clothes, depending on where I was coming from, or going to after - gym shoes - an extra pair of socks, because they always seemed to get lost - a small shower bag: with flip flops, a wash cloth, shampoo & conditioner, probably a leave in hair-product, face wash, wide toothed comb, and a towel for my hair (all my gyms have all had towels and body wash, some have had shampoo/conditioner, but generally I want my own hair products). - deodorant - lotion and face sunscreen - chapstick - hairbrush - extra hair ties - small box to hold jewelry - padlock (gym dependent)
If I was swimming my bag would have my suit, goggles, and silicone cap, and a wet bag.
Flip flops Brush Lotion Deodorant My gym already has shampoo and body wash in the shower Hair ties West straps Belt Resistance bands Change of clothes Make up bag if I’m going somewhere

My answer has some parts that are very specific to my type of training: wrist wraps, jump rope, weight belt, knee sleeves, sometimes different shoes depending on what I'm going to go. I don't change at the gym, so nothing to do with that.
Generic stuff: Extra hair tie/bobby pins/headband because you WILL need them someday Tissues A nonperishable snack (fruit pouch, protein bar, whatever)
I am close enough that I don’t shower at the gym, so I keep it light. I also drive there, so my back-ups are in my car (water bottle, sneakers). I wear my workout clothes, street shoes/sneakers, and pack a lock, ID, water bottle, small face cloth, & gym/workout sneakers. I usually do a class and we can put our bag in the room (off to the side).
When I swim, I use the locker room and shower but usually just bring conditioner and a big towel + goggles, swim cap, slides, and pack underwear and a hat (in cold weather).
I’ve gotten ready with a blow dryer, makeup, street clothes, etc and don’t really like it. For me, it would have to be a big time saver to do that consistently after a workout.
hair ties, flip flops in a plastic bag (that i then use for sweaty clothes), a mesh bag with basic toiletries for showering, and a towel with a velcro piece so you can use it as a wrap (super cheap at target).

I don't go to the gym anymore, but when I went, I didn't shower at the gym, and mine only had my gym shoes (you weren't allowed to wear street shoes into the gym), extra hair ties and hair bands to keep my bangs back (I learned to keep a few hair ties because once my ponytail holder broke while I was adjusting it and I didn't have an extra. My coach ended up giving me a rubber bracelet to use because I was desperate, I didn't even have a hair band that day), a towel (hand towel to wipe my sweat), deodorant, and my water bottle.

I just started up rowing again (Rowhouse). My classes are one weekday and one weekend day. For the weekday class, if I'm coming from work my bag has workout clothes, socks, sneakers, hair tie. No shower stuff bc I go straight home. If I'm coming from home, no bag at all.
My classes are either late in the evening 6p or EARLY in the morning (weekend days) at 8-9a.
I keep a lock and key for the locker (and a keyring for the key that can go around my water bottle), hand sanitizer, disposable body wipes, and deodorant. I'm usually coming to and from my house and I don't shower at the gym.
Side note but I use the small dagne dover Landon tote as my gym bag and I'm obsessed with it. I love how small it is but it's still spacious and it has lots of pockets.
