DS2 and I both enjoy games. Id like to find one or two to get for Christmas. I’m open to board or card games, but I find that card games tend to find their way to the dining room table and get played more because of their small size.
We got Sleeping Queens at Easter and have enjoyed that. We have liked Spot It and Too Many Monkeys (I feel bored with all of these at the moment though.) Oh, we also got Taco vs Burrito and DS loves it but I DO NOT so I always veto that one.
What games are good for a 7 year old kid and adult to play together?

Someone here recommended Castle Panic and my DD (8) likes it. It has a lot of rules, but isn’t hard once you know how to play. Clue is also a hit. We just got Hues and Clues, which my DD also llikes. For cards: Rat a Tat Cat is good for kids, as is Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza.
I can't remember the age range on this but we like Cat Crimes and Dog Crimes. They can technically play on their own, which is nice if you have an only, as I do.

Oh no! Why don’t you like Taco vs Burrito? I bought it for DD1 (8.5) for Xmas based on recs in another thread. I love Sleeping Queens too.
My rec is Sushi Go! I love card games and that is a fun one in our house.

noodleoo, I think I’m the outlier for the Taco vs Burrito game. I’ve heard lots of good things about it. My kid loves it and and his brother will sometimes play it with him (DS1 isn’t a huge game kid). I just find it kind of .. stupid? Like and the strategy seems to hold all the good cards until the end. I don’t know, maybe I don’t get it, but I just don’t care for it.

I was just looking at cat crimes today for my DS(7.5). He's an only.

My 8 year old is asking for mahjong. He’s really 90.
DD loved Connect 4 at that age. She liked the one on one attention. Lots of Uno, Battle Ship, Checkers, tic tac toe, sorry, and Trouble are played here. My kids are in such age gaps it’s hard ti find a board game that gets both of them to sit long enough.
Sorry King of Tokyo. A little tricky to learn, but fun once you get going! DS played at aftercare and we bought it for his 8th birthday. Different versions of Uno that have various wild card rules.
Our whole family liked Neanderthal Poetry. It's like password but you can only use 1 syllable words. It comes with an inflatable bat, if a person says a 2 syllable words someone hits them (gently) with the bat and says "no!" And they lose a point. SDs 21&22 talk like cavemen when we play so it's pretty hilarious.
I think the clues are ok for kids. DS didn't have trouble playing and we got it when he was 10.
We just got Battle Sheep and it ticks all the boxes for us - quick/easy setup, short instructions, quick game play time. The game expands as you add more players, so it wouldn't take up much space for 2 players.
