My mom bought us a new tv for Christmas and it came with 3 months of AppleTV so I’ve been bingeing Ted Lasso. Fuck that show for being so charming and making me laugh and cry.

Last day before winter brrrrreak!
The students are done at 9:30 today and on days like today, my principal usually tells us that the “parking lot inspector” is coming and needs all the cars gone so hopefully I’ll be out of work by 10.

I’m going to try to make Ted’s biscuits today 😂
I was shocked by how much I liked that show!
If anyone is looking for a Christmas movie, Family Twist on Netflix is hilarious. It's with Jennifer Garner and Ed Helms. Everyone in it was great.
I woke up this morning crampy feeling like I'm about to start my period. I'm in the middle of my cycle. I get home from taking DS to school and I'm bleeding and its heavyish, like a real period starting and not spotting. I put a tampon in for now and I could be wrong but I just have that feeling like I'm bleeding a lot, but I will evaluate in an hour or so. I did forget to take my birth control pill on Tuesday night, and made it up by taking two on Wednesday, so that is the only I can really think of that would have caused this unless something else is going on. I know the answer to this is call your doctor if you are concerned, and I will, but I guess I'm wondering how long you would wait to see if it stops, first. A couple hours? I don't want to be overdramatic.
beerlover anytime I had a mess up with BCP, my body usually gave me some sort of penalty. So you could be having bleeding from missing and doubling.
I had a sore throat yesterday and then spiraled to the is it from being at work and talking or am I sick? I’m thinking today it’s just from talking. I’m a little stuffy, but also went from 80 degrees to 40 degrees and my nose always does this in the morning.
I did joke with DH that if we did get Covid, it would be a great way to get out of seeing his family. 😉
ssmjlm, I'm hoping this is all it is. I've had a lot going wrong this week so I'm just like whyyyyy another thing.
Ugh, TGIF. We don't have anything going on tonight- probably go out to eat and DS wanted to make gingerbread men. Tomorrow is the family Christmas party on H's side which is always fun with a lot of good food.

We had our org holiday party yesterday. Each unit hosted a holiday movie-themed table. Ours won Fan Choice voting. We were so stoked!
There were so many creative tables. One was 8-Bit Christmas and they had set up super nintendos and Nintendos to play. The Die Hard table had voting on whether it was a Christmas movie or not. It all just made me laugh so much.
DS2 comes home from college this afternoon. I'm so looking forward to seeing him but I know he has friends in town that he wasn't able to see over Thanksgiving so he will arrive and be gone like the wind. It's different knowing he is in town. He's still home even if I don't get much of him.
The three weeks between holidays are supposed to be a down time for the staff in academics (higher ed) but instead the last two have been nothing but chaos. We are all so exhausted, you can just see it in peoples faces. I've been counting down days until break and relaying it to my dog every morning. He understands.

Pretty quiet work day here, which is nice. I can catch up on some laundry and other chores while "monitoring email". SO's son comes home from college tonight, and his daughter will be back on Tuesday. Tomorrow is SO's birthday, so we'll do dinner out with his son and we'll wait to do cake with his daughter.
I'm just waiting on a few more Christmas gifts to be delivered. Once they're wrapped, I'm done except for buying a gift card for my brother and some stocking stuffers. I'm feeling pretty well-prepared!

I love it!
Last day for me too. My principal said she wants everyone gone as soon as all the kids are gone. So I'll be heading home by 3:45pm instead of 4/4:15pm.
All I've got today is one task, one short meeting, and I need to write myself a to-do list for when I'm back in the office in January, and then I'm freeeeee!
SIL and family arrive this evening, and we're hosting a holiday party with friends tomorrow afternoon. I feel kind of bad, there were tentative plans for DH, SIL, BIL, and probably a couple of other local friends to go disc golfing tomorrow morning, and I put the kibbosh on them leaving all the little kids home with me for that. I don't mind doing it sometimes, but I'm coming off a long week at work and home with DH OOT for all of the pre-winter break stuff, we're hosting a party in the afternoon, and I just don't feel like I have the energy reserves to babysit and then actually be able to enjoy my own damn party. They can take the kids with them to burn some energy so they can get naps in before the party.

That seems so annoying! Why even make them come in? lol
ETA: that's a rhetorical question, I'm sure it has something to do with laws and number of instructional days or hours or whatever.

New parenting badge unlocked- we took our daughter to the ED last night cause she was wheezing and having retractions. All turned out fine and we went home after about 3 hours but gah why couldn’t it happen during the day when we could’ve taken her to the pediatrician haha. She was such a trooper and was acting fine but was obviously tired since we didn’t get home till 2am where she promptly passed out. I just got over her last cold, so here we go again lol. At least she’s happy and cute
Also, I haven’t told our pediatrician nor did I mention it yesterday that I’m a doctor, my partner thinks it’s weird. Even though I was trained to take care of kids it’s been so long, I don’t want them to assume I know stuff, so talk to me "normally." Now if anything seemed sketchy I can certainly pull the doctor card (which is shitty that I would need to do), but till then, nope.
I have a very shady extended family member. This relatives wife is constantly posting on social media about the extremely expensive luxury, cars, houses, purses etc she buys herself. She is a SAHW. Said wife has had no experience in this but she recently started up a "construction" company and bought a bungalow in $3.5 MIL in 2020 that she was going to flip. The house is in a very expensive neighbourhood. The house was finished just a few weeks ago but they listed it back in October for 13.8 MIL. No bites on the house. The neighbour has a very similar house that sold last June for $6.4 mil. Nothing on this street has ever sold for more than $7MIL.
The house the relative's wife bought was "targeted" by arson and burnt down yesterday. It is all over the news here. The neighbours cameras caught 4 people wearing all black running with red gas cans along. the side of the house into their Mercedes that was parked in the driveway.
Everyone is convinced that the homeowners are in on this and I completely agree too. I am interested to see how this all plays out.

I am just working until noon today and then I am off work until Jan 2. I don’t really have anything I need to do this morning and many on my team including my boss are already off for the holidays so I’m doing a lot of nothing. I am looking forward to the time off but it’s also nice to not be DRAGGING myself to break and in such desperate need of it like when I was teaching. Thinking of all you teachers this time of year ❤️
I think this afternoon I’ll go to the local bakery and pick out an assortment of Christmas cookies. I talked H into just buying them rather than baking them.

pandora89, where it happened is down the street from my cousin’s house. Superrrr sketch. 😬
DS2 fell at preschool yesterday right before I picked him up and split open his lip. 🥲 I had to take him straight to the doctor to glue it together. It was either that or stitches. But luckily it worked and it is already much better today. Poor kid. He was so unaffected and indifferent to it. I was so shocked when I went to pick him up. So much blood. I hope it doesn’t scar. 🤞🏽
I also have no idea what happened as the teacher didn’t see either since he was playing outside. But it was a huge cut for falling outside. 😬 I’m going to ask that they pay a bit more attention because, while I don’t blame them and I know shit happens, the preschool kids and the group 1 & 2 kids play outside at the same time. He’s 2 and group 2 kids are 6 and that’s a huge difference.

pandora89, that's crazy! Keep us updated on what happens!!
H's birthday is next Wednesday and I have no idea what to get him for that or Christmas. I had a really good idea, but I thought it would be $400ish and it's really going to be at least $1000ish, so that's off the table. And he keeps buying himself stuff so idk.

wanderingback , I'm glad she's ok. Hope you all get some rest.
We've never had Apple TV so I haven't seen Ted Lasso, but them main male character is a tall drink of water Also weird random question, is there regular Apple TV, and Apple TV +, or it's always "+" like "Disney +"?
ETA: @@@@ dreamcrisp1, ugh you can't catch a break. Glad the glue is working. How is your other baby? I hope everyone is finally healthy before EOY.

Lol I will answer anyway.
We start at 7 am. Kids have 8 classes, they took finals for periods 1, 2, and 3 on Wednesday, 4, 5, and 6 yesterday, and 7 and 8 today.
I usually love Christmas, but I am fucking over this holiday season already. and it's all a bunch of little things that I won't get into. But I'm feeling very 'just give me my time off work and no one talk to me'. Unfortunately, that's not how it's going to go.

@@@@ Oh this is kind of "cool story bruh", I finally finished a baby blanket for one of our cousins. He's 2.5, lol. His mom got it in the mail and is excited (or at least appeasing me). Unfortunately she doesn't have a lot of money and dad is in and out of the picture, so it's a situation where they actually can use a blanket, and she can add it to her gift pile. I *think* it's big enough that he'll be able to grow in to it a little longer before it's too small
Now I need to start on one for the other cousin I had a thread about so I can finish before they're in college lol. That mom told me she ended up getting a blanket from one of the nurses who must just make and keep them for who needs them, so that melted my heart. We ended up sending a cash gift card to the parents, and then bought a separate bottle warmer as dad really wants one. I joked I'd buy it if dad agrees to do MOTN feedings.
pandora89, whoa that is super sketchy! You'll have to update us when they figure it out.
I just placed a $200 order for Aldi delivery, which I am dying at because we are going out of town in a week so it's not even for holiday stuff, lol. I mean I did throw in a few unnecessary extras like white chocolate dipped Oreos and bloody mary mix (which I think is at least 50% likely not to even be in stock) but most of it is just replacing pantry and fridge stuff we're low on. We're only going to be gone a few days so it's not like it will all go bad while we're gone. But that is one of my highest Aldi trips I've ever had.
My sister is apparently moving apartments on the day she is supposed to fly down for Christmas, so I'm becoming more convinced by the day that she won't be coming. She is moving into a 1 bedroom from a 2 bedroom and apparently it's $100 per month cheaper to move now instead of two weeks from now, so I get it completely - but it's not unlikely for her to cancel on taking trips to see family even when everything is going well, and between moving and her health issues I would say this is a lot happening for her at once. I can't say I'm surprised, but I'm disappointed. It's been 2 years since I've seen her. I guess I'm going to have to be the one to suck it up and fly out there to see her in 2024, which is more complicated now by the fact that she won't have a second bed available.
My H’s office planned a Christmas cookie exchange and his dept got tagged to “run” it. NBD we planned to make some cookies for the exchange. This is the 1st year it’s a thing, so I asked questions. There were no answers, hahaha. I got stuck on HOW they would exchange the cookies (logistically) and said they needed to provide boxes. Then I bought the boxes on Amazon (not expensive but nice, the kind bakeries use).
Guys, it was a hit ! The boxes worked beautifully, everyone who participated got an assortment and took a beautiful box home with them. I am so bossy that I try hard to keep my questions and suggestions to myself. But once in a while it works out, too !
My house looks like a bomb went off, I still have several gifts to buy (including 3 that I have to make on Shutterfly this weekend), and we have not finalized plans for Christmas day. Bah humbug.
We got a sitter for a date night tonight. So instead of wearing his sweats all day and changing before dinner like a normal person, he is opting to wear jeans all day. To work from home. For dinner in 11 hours.
