I love having independent teenagers who get along. I'm working while my kids are prepping stuffed peppers for the crockpot, which will be dinner tonight. DD1 is going to make banana bread next because we have some severely aged bananas that need to be used, and I told them that since they're off of school now, I want them to pick some cookie recipes and bake. They'll have in-depth D&D character discussions while they make cookies, and I can cross baked goods off my to-do list. WINNING.
I think it's outrageous that they were able to get to O'Hare on time with Chicago traffic.
But they were flying to Europe. Those flights leave in the late afternoon- evening.Â
I think they said as they were leaving that they only had 30 minutes to get to the plane. It's pre 9/11 so security wasn't a huge deal, but every time I've been in Chicago the traffic has made me want to weep.
It is ridiculous that these are the things I nitpick when watching a movie.
This is why I think the oversleeping is the most unrealistic part of Home Alone! And they are being picked up at 8 am. It’s not even early.
We flew out 12/10. I can’t even tell you how many times I woke up over night.

Yeah there is no way they made that flight if this were real life. In real life, you wouldn't be in first class and you would at least make sure you had eyes on your kid before the plane left.

I had to look it up from Winnetka to the airport is 35 minutes with minimal traffic, they didn't make it.....Now if they said 30 minutes until boarding that might be different, but 30 minutes before the plane left, not possible.

But they were leaving during rush hour!
I agree with you! If it were Christmas eve that might be minimal traffic, but it was just a regular day so there would have been traffic on top of that minimum of 35 minutes. And rush hour on a regular day.
