isabel I made them. I didn't love the recipe. The cookie is fine but one-dimensional in terms of flavor for me. That surprised me given all the techniques in the recipe.
That’s a bummer. How’s the texture?
DH made a recipe that had soy sauce in it and the flavor was great, but the cookies spread a ton. I think too much liquid replacing the salt with soy sauce. I was considering reducing some down and trying to replace the salt in the KA recipe with the reduced soy.

Texture is good, but too soft for me. I like more chew. I don't think the recipe uses granulated sugar, so it lacks the chew/crisp you get from that. I much prefer Sarah Keiffer's or Samantha Seneviratne's recipes.
Considering taking a microdose of mushrooms for the concert tonight. A friend of a friend makes, like, capsules, it’s such a suburban approach to psychedelics lol they just look like a packet of vitamins.
I think an easy to bake frozen app is a great idea, but I could also see someone being like"thanks for making me do the work of cooking your stuff ".
But then I tried to think of a cold bite size appetizer and I can't think of anything that seems appealing to teenage boys. Only stuff like caprese skewers.
What about a plate of sandwiches cut into little pieces or a tortilla rolled up with cream cheese and something else, cut into bite size pieces?
I was joking meaning an actual hostess gift, for their freezer. LOL We have a Philly Pretzel Factory which is perfect for this kind of thing, but it is hard to bring something since so many things would be served warm.
Hahaha whoops!
If I was having a teenager sleepover party and someone showed up with a bag of frozen apps I would be down with that!
This is a long shot and I don't want to make another travel thread- has anyone stayed at the Hyatt Ziva Cancun? It came very highly recommended from a travel group I'm in but was wondering if anyone here has stayed there. We went ahead and booked for a weeklong stay this summer, but it's refundable if we change our minds.
DH, DD and I stayed there spring of 2019 I think it was. We really enjoyed it. We got a corner suite in the club building for the extra space and 2 bathrooms. The spa was fabulous. DD was younger then and especially loved the candy shop.
We came across some old videos of the kids from when they were 3 and 5...in one video DD made up a song that was legit stuck in my head all morning lol
"No hands, no hands, no hands! I'm poopin, I'm poopin, I'm poopin in the potty! You lazy, you crazy, whooooaoaa"

My body hates me. Perimenopause is dumb. My period was over a week late and now I’m ovulating a week early so, like two weeks of pain and bloating in a row. Booooo!!! Ugh.
The weather here is nice at least. I’ve had the window open and made my whole family chilly. lol.
I need ham like water Like breath, like rain I need ham like mercy From Heaven's gate Sometimes ham salad or casserole or ham that’s free range, all natural I need ham
Someone on here recommend yin yoga, and I’ve really been enjoying it. I found some classes on the Peloton App, and I really like the instructors. I wish it was more size inclusive or offered suggestions for people with different mobility limitations, but I’m pretty good at modifying stuff myself by now, so I’ve been able to figure it out. My body is feeling pretty good.
I love yin yoga. It’s like a nap, with stretching.

I love yin yoga! I try to get in at least one yin class a week.

We basically cleaned the entire house today. We will sweep and mop again before people come over tomorrow night. Now I need to food prep etc.
I am going to make some pb blossoms with 3 extra chocolate chips to make them look like paws, and fudge. I want to do some plain, and some rocky road. I’m just making oven fajitas for us for dinner. Lol.
I placed a grocery pick up order for tomorrow morning, so I’ll swoop that up after the dog park. Then I can make my Chex mix!
Our friends are staying the night, and sleeping in our trailer, so DH is making sure the bed is all set. So excited for a fun and easy night tomorrow!!

I took down most of of the interior Christmas decorations today. I was only able to get down one side of the banner in my dining room and it's driving me insane.
My mom and I took DS to a nearby town and spent the afternoon at the waterfront park. It was fun and DS had a blast!
My kid is at a birthday party, and I've met the mom just today.
We were saying byes, and I'm sitting down and she started walking one way and then changed to walk towards me and kind of bent down, so I stood up and gave her a hug. But then as soon as it finishes I realized she just couldn't get through the original way she planned on going and was bending because she was holding stuff and had to crouch walking past me to get the stuff past.
I'm waiting it out now before leaving so I don't run into her in the parking lot. I'm rarely embarrassed but I could die right now.
I hope not too crazy, I also have to go get food for NYE tomorrow. I'll probably send H.
Fruit is so freaking expensive! David eats the most fruit and his favorite things are cuties and apples. Those mesh bags of cuties are $7.99!!! It's pains me every time I throw one in the cart, lol. Ridiculous.
Do you have an aldi? I never pay more than 3.49. My son eats a ton of fruit, only fresh. i don't know what I would do if not for Aldi. Great price and variety with apples too.
I do! I have one right down the street from me. I went in years ago when it first opened and was unimpressed but I really need to go look again since grocery prices are so insane right now. Thanks for the reminder!

Oh, thanks, I'll join it!! Were dinner reservations a pain? That's the only thing I'm concerned about. I've heard the good places in AI resorts book up fast. I have visions of David doing his own thing on the resort during the day then we'd all meet up for a nice dinner. ETA: wow, I'm shocked how big this Facebook group is, lol. Thank you! I'm sure all of my questions will be answered there.

I swear the unpredictability is the worst part of it for me. Will it be 19 days or 49 days, who knows!
We’re about halfway done with the garage and the left half looks so so much better. I’m relaxing now with a warm pup on my lap.
Edit: I found two unused baby shower Target gift cards today during the Great Garage Cleanout. My kid is almost 12yo. 🤣
We stayed in town for the break because DS1 was supposed to do drivers ed (but ended up postponing so he could fit in his track practices and participate in a meet) but all of our friends/ the kids friends are traveling so it’s been a very low key break. I was a force in organizing/cleaning cupboards, closets, the fridges etc. I feel very accomplished and have 6 giant bags waiting to be picked up for donation. My 11 year old just did two 1000 piece puzzles on his own in 2 days. I love how much he loves puzzles
February break is the only one we can travel for with DS1’s sports schedule and job , so we are doing college visits then. 5 schools in 6 days, and all in the Midwest. It’s going to be so cold. So so cold. Not exactly the kind of break I’m excited about but it must be done - and I guess if he’s going to potentially be living there he needs to see what it’s like in February lol

We bought H a new car today. He got a Subaru Crosstrek and it’s so pretty. I’m not excited about having a car payment again, but his car was 10 years old and the transmission was giving him trouble.

What's the car buying experience like now? Have cars come down a little since covid? David starts driving in May so will get my car, which means I get a new car. I'm both excited and dreading it.

Our experience was pretty straightforward. The place we went doesn’t work on commission; they’re all salary so it wasn’t high pressure which was nice. The interest rates are gag worthy though (and H’s credit is nearly perfect), so if you’re not paying cash, be prepared for that because I was not fully expecting that part. Price-wise: ehhhh. I think they’re probably a little lower than this time last year, but not pre-COVID, for sure.
Our new washer and dryer were delivered today, but the installers have to come back because they’re stacked and totally unbalanced. They also broke the toilet in the laundry room, but luckily it sounds like Costco will pay for a plumber to come out and fix or replace it. Other than that I’m very happy to be able to do laundry again!
We also bought a new car today, Toyota Rav4 Hybrid. It is the woodland trim so has some of the sportier options we wanted. This is the first time we have ever bought new. It was at least a bit under msrp.
We could have gotten a used one with like 60k miles for 31 or new was 35k. I am still shocked at used prices and we have been watching them for 6 months anticipating this purchase.
Anyways it is done. It was painless and the car is zippy and fun to drive.
This trip is U of Michigan, northwestern, U of Illinois (where DH/most of his family went), Wasington U, and Purdue. He’s looking at schools all over so we need to do a few more trips over the summer. He’s still all over the place with what he wants - we shall see!

No. But I always check Tripadvisor for every single hotel I reserve.
