My 2023 goal was 24 books. I read 29. I'd like to read 35 for 2024.
My plan is to re-read Iron Flame. After that, I don't know. Maybe work through the Goodreads best fiction from 2023 that I missed last year. I have a couple BOTM to get through also when time allows.
I read 104 books in 2023. I was 3/4 of the way through #105, but finished that today so The Drift by CJ Tudor is my first read of 2024.
That is really impressive! As a slow reader, it blows my mind that anybody can read that many books in a year.
My goals was 23 books in 2023, and 24 books in 2024. I try to make my goal easily attainable and so far it's worked out because my ultimate goal is really to just keep reading.

I am a fast reader, but also, reading is basically my only hobby and I don’t have any kids to take up my free time lol
My 2023 goal was to read less and find other hobbies. In both 2021 and 2022 I read 120+ books. I read 76 in 2023, but I'm not sure I found other hobbies.
99% of what I read is lighthearted. My goal for 2024 is to read a few more things that are a bit challenging.
Oh and I stopped making goals after the first year I started tracking (which was 2019, I think). I don’t want anything about reading to feel compulsory or prescribed. I just want it to be fun and as an anxious rule follower, I found myself getting too caught up in the numbers when I set a goal. It’s the same reason I don’t want to be in a book club or do book challenges.
I “beat” 2022 by one book for a total of 54. Impressive to me since I also started grad school and don’t count any of that reading.
Today I’m reading The Invincible Miss Cust. Historical fiction about the first woman vet. About halfway through. It’s good but not fantastic.
I don’t think I really have a reading goal this year. I’m doing a lot of re-reading old favorites so I can put them down when I need to and not get too sucked in that I neglect other responsibilities
My goal was 32. I like it to be something manageable. I read 45. I set this year to 36.
I finished The Good Part last night. I liked it.
I think I might start What Remains. I think somebody posted about it on the December post and I always have an ad for it on my kindle. My library hold became available for it.

I'm boring in that my goal is always 100 books, because that is naturally about how many I read per year (this year was 104 and I'm about halfway through the book I started 2 days ago). I also don't like to do any book challenges and just read what I want beyond my book club books and the books I read with my kids (which I do count as long as I haven't read them myself recently).
I read 51 books last year, and about 2/3 of a book of short sci-fi/fantasy stories that I haven't finished yet. I always set my goal for 50 books, and normally I exceed it by 5-10, but this year I read a lot of heavy non-fiction, and even with filling in with my "cheat" books (graphic novels) I still barely met my goal.
My first read this year will be Recursion by Blake Crouch, which I started after midnight at bedtime last night. I'm probably also going to start an audiobook about Mr. Rogers today/tonight (read by Levar Burton!).
I really sucked at reading in 2023. I don’t even know exactly how many I finished—definitely not close to my goal of 50. But today starts another year! I think I’ll dial my goal back to 40 and first up is Kairos by Jenny Erpenbeck. I think she’s an amazing writer so I’m looking forward to it. And there are so many great authors publishing this year!
I read a truly obscene number of books last year. I set fake goals on Goodreads/Storygraph so it will track the books and I get stats but I don’t have a real goal.
I already read a book last night because I couldn’t sleep so starting off strong. Last year I tried to read from some genres I normally don’t so I might try that again.

Me too!
Reading is my favorite part of the day, what I do before I go to bed that’s just me time.

I read 89 books in 2023. I don’t have a goal for 2024, really. I just want to read more books I enjoy. This was a year of mediocrity. Only a few real standouts.
According to Goodreads I read 45 books in 2023, but I only track the books I read for work purposes (I'm a high school librarian), so my actual number is probably in the 90's. I don't like to track it precisely for the same reasons as TR, but this time last year I did resolve to put down my computer more often and replace that time with reading books, and based on my GR numbers vs. last year's I definitely accomplished that goal.
Today I finished Only This Beautiful Moment, which was absolutely lovely and needs some time to marinate in my brain. If you like historical fiction and multi-generational stories it's definitely one to add to your TBR. I think my next read will be Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, which I know was the big hit read of 2022, but I'm just now getting to that part of my adult fiction unread book stack.
I also don’t set a reading goal. I like looking back on my year-end stats on Good Reads just out of curiosity and I find data like that interesting, but I don’t want reading to feel like a chore to me or get anxious about meeting a goal I set for myself.
I just borrowed Not So Perfect Strangers on Libby so that will likely be my first read of 2024.

I read 93 books in 2023. I set a loose goal of 90, but always give myself grace if life gets too busy or I get into a reading slump. I’ll aim to read around the same in 2024.
I’m currently reading Starling House, which is somewhat spooky, but strange. It’s a weird time of year to read this; would have felt more appropriate in the fall when it came out, but it just became available from the library.
I’ve been trying to get into The Trust by Ronald H. Balson but a few chapters in, I’ve decided to give up.
I’m about to start Stephen King’s Under The Dome and I’m excited about it. I’m a lifelong fan and he hasn’t disappointed me yet; don’t know why I haven’t read this one before.
I read 126 books last year. I basically read from 9 pm to midnight most nights and don’t sleep enough, which is how I fit it in with kids, a full-time job, and a busy schedule of kid and adult activities (by which I mean things like dinners with friends, not “adult activities”).
The goal I set on Goodreads is something I know I’ll hit because I don’t have an actual goal and don’t want it to feel like a to-do list. I put 60 last year and 80 this year.
My first book of the year is The Ten Thousand Doors of January. Thought it was appropriate for the month! (January is a character name and not the month, but details, details…).
Reading/bookish things (podcasts, indie bookstore visits, a reading retreat, a book advent calendar, author events) brought me SO much joy last year, and I am so grateful for books and bookish people!
