In the past, we’ve had good luck with Staybridge Suites. The kids could all be in one bedroom, there’s a tiny living room in the middle, and then DH and I had our own bedroom with a TV. So that set up works really well.
I talk to the kids and they still seem fine with sharing. So as long as most people don’t seem to think we’re weirdos, I think we’re just gonna go with it again for our spring break vacation. It’s a lot easier as long as they’re willing to share beds. Most of my kids are really calm, quiet, sleepers, except one, and she isn’t too bad overall.
Let me guess your mom is not traveling with you, nor is she offering up money so you all can have more beds at your accommodations....
I figure if not, then their opinion doesn't really matter. They wouldn't know one way or the other unless they were traveling with you anyway.
For an academic question, I don't mind those. But to appease someone who isn't involved, I get annoyed. Not aimed at OP just annoyed by people with opinions of no relevance in general.
When I share with my 8yo we build a pillow barrier in the middle and sometimes get a second top sheet and blanket. In out case it’s so he doesn’t kick & roll into me but something like that may give everyone some space/separation.
If your kids don't mind it, who cares what anyone else thinks!
I wanted to add, most hotels have the option to rent a cot - I'm not sure if it's an extra cost or not. We only had 3 kids in my family growing up (and all girls!) but we usually did hotel rooms with 2 shared beds and then a rollaway cot for the 5th person. I know most people on these boards would be horrified at the parents sharing a bedroom with the kids, but that's what my family could afford It worked out fine - we were never a family that spent a ton of time in the room anyway so we were mostly just there to sleep.
If they don't mind, I think it's fine. I have 13-year old boy/girl twins, and they haven't shared a bed in a while. DD doesn't want to, and honestly though, I don't blame her b/c sleeping with DS1 is like sleeping with your own personal tornado.
This is how my 13 year old sleeps. We try to get rooms with a sofa bed for this reason because no one wants to share with him. We’re a family of 4 though so we can do a 2 queen/sofa bed situation

Who would be horrified about kids sharing a bedroom with their kids? Is that not normal? Granted, I’m an only child so never really thought about what people with 2 kids do, but I always assumed that families stayed in hotel rooms together. Why is that horrifying?
I did a lot of travel soccer as a teenager and other families definitely stayed in the same room as their kids.

Families definitely share one hotel room. Good gravy.

That was a bit TIC, but it comes up often that people want to rent suites or apartments because they don’t want to go to sleep at the same time as the kids. Which is totally justified- just a privilege many families don’t have due to finances.

For real. We couldn’t afford to get 2 hotel rooms unless it was a super, super cheap hotel.
