Well Optum RX put me on a wait list for Wegovy after telling me I would get it this week😐. I sent a message to my PCP to see what they suggest. They mentioned other injectables, but not sure if I will be approved since I am not diabetic. She mentioned Phentermine, has anyone taken that?
I just started a few days ago. So far no real side effects .
bcv513 you really can't start Wegovy right now and I am annoyed doctors keep writing Rxs for it anyway. Just making more work for themselves when patients call back and say they can't get it. Novo has been clear about the shortage for a year now and sends regular updates on them. Like 1.7 was out in Dec but is available again right now.
followyourarrow if you can stomach yogurt or protein drinks they are a good options. Unfortunately I hate the texture of both.
I took my first 2.4 shot on Friday, did it in my thigh and side effects have been fatigue and a headache the last 3 days but today I feel normal. Appetite is low but no nausea.

My go-to meals for protein are a Premiere Protein shake with my coffee (basically use it as a creamer) and some version of egg bites. Then lunch is a high protein yogurt (I like Skyr or Siggi, but Costco Greek works too) with a Kodiak protein granola bar crumbled up in it is pretty good. I always try to have berries on hand and nuts for added fiber, because all that protein can be constipating. Dinners usually are a salad with chicken, a cheese of some sort (goat, feta), some more nuts and fruit/berries. I also like the Darigold Fit single serve milks with 25g protein - I really like these on days I have higher carb content meals if that's what my family is eating.
I love that the meds allow me to choose my food based on nutrition more than cravings now. I truly had no clue how much I let the 'food noise' rule my choices.
I met with my endo yesterday to review my labs etc. My A1C has crept up .1 but still in pre diabetic range. Since my insurance will not cover weight loss meds she agreed to go ahead and put in a pre-auth or Mounjaro. I told her I'm not opposed to doing Zepbound and using the coupon but that's a lot of $ and like adding another bill every month. I'm really hoping the MJ gets approved.
She also scheduled me an appointment with the weight loss clinic the endo's office now has but that's not until April. She said if we can't get the MJ approved then she would consider other things like Phentermine but I do have to come in for that appointment first which is totally fine. I'm happy to have a plan going again!

What is everyone eating for fiber? My protein levels are fiber, but I am struggling to hit my fiber goals. I am going to try some apple slices, but I need other suggestions.
I have to admit I'm spiraling a little on the CEP post about TW side effects. I've been on Mounjaro since last November with no real problems but I also don't get bloodwork every three months like some people are saying. My endocrinologist didn't order it, just before every time I see her, which is more like every six months. My bloodwork six months ago was fine but 😳.

I also was a bit worried so I searched it in the semaglutide group that I’m in and found reassurance there. People saying 1) they might have had these issues before the meds, undiagnosed 2) most problems go away after stopping, if you choose 3) these meds are sometimes used to treat these side effects and 4) look up the side effects of being morbidly obese, which is what I was off the meds
Those helped me a lot so maybe it’ll do something for you too.
Still no luck finding Wegovy. My doc asked me to check a specific pharmacy, but they only have 1mg in stock. She sent in the a script for MJ so if that gets approved I should be ok to start soon. My mail in pharmacy already confirmed the starter dose is in stock.

I use fiber gummies and eat some nuts. Unfortunately fruit sends my blood sugar sky high.

PDQ I commented over there. I work in liver transplant, I haven’t heard a word about these meds causing liver issues, in fact, our docs seem in favor of them to help patient’s for diabetic control and weight loss pre-transplant. We also (as of yet) haven’t seen pt’s coming in with liver failure due to these medications.
Now, if you developed severe gastroperesis, it’s possible you could have organ failure from that, just like anyone with severe malnutrition.
I would not let that one post get to you, we don’t know the person’s medical history, etc. I would just be aware of any symptoms you’re having, and ask to be checked if you’re concerned.
Anecdotally, most doctors I know think these meds have more positive impact than negative, and aren’t really concerned about bad side effects. And believe me, I polled them all before I started! I don’t think bloodwork every 3 months is necessary either.

Ok douche, go ahead and call it mud. My husband DID have halitosis. We addressed it after I talked to you girls on here and guess what? Years later, no problem. Mofongo, you're a cunt. Eat shit. ~anonnamus

I struggle with fiber too. My biggest fiber meal I have every day is Banza pasta that I add meat & veggies to for 9 grams.
As far as convenience things; the smoothie I have is 3g, a TJs trail mix is 2g and Lilly's chocolate bar serving has 8grams.

I have a protein shake most mornings with a big handful of baby spinach blended in. Spinach seems to always help keep things….moving lol.
followyourarrow I haven’t gotten them lately, but when I did the Gas X tablets helped with it.
Did anyone see this? Hoping we can get weegovy soon. My doc is trying other meds still, but every pharmacy I call about weegovy is like lol nope we haven’t had it in months.
followyourarrow, sulpher burps are the worst and generally a sign to me that my stomach is too full of things that are slow to digest. If you can stick to liquids like broth or Fairlife for a bit, it should help. I know Reddit can be the worst but the Mounjaro sub there is really helpful and the mods have done a lot to make it a supportive place.

I'm not sure if there's any food restrictions with these drugs but fiber is a big priority in my diet and I meet most of my daily intake with blackberries and blueberries. They are pricey, though. Also my Mission almond flour wraps have 4 grams of fiber each, I usually have two of those a day and all that alone put me at 25 grams.
My insurance approved the Mounjaro so I picked it up last night and did my shot!
Congrats! Do you mind if I ask are you diabetic? I was told today I was denied due to not being diabetic.
I'm not but pre-diabetic. My insurance will not cover weight loss meds like Wegovy, etc so maybe that's why they covered it? I don't know-was very surprised!

Glad you got approved, my BIL was able to be approved for ozempic being pre-diabetic. My cholesterol, BP and triglycerides are high, but blood sugars have always been fine. So back to waiting on Wegovy lol.

I'll have to look at those wraps!
I'd love to have more berries but the boys are berry fiends and would eat them for sure.

Um, excuse me, but if you're somehow trying to imply that I am being overly dramatic and ridiculous about my personal health and have decided to get a needle jabbed into my arm every three months for no good reason I will have you know ma'am that you very well may be right I have been known in the past to be a tad bit over the top.

I only noticed those in the first few weeks of my starter dose, and then again when I went up in dose. It calmed down for me after about 2 weeks. Make sure you're well hydrated and some recommend digestive enzymes. I like eating pineapple or kiwi for the enzymes. I know they're awful.

Frozen berries work well for me. I put a bowl of them in my lunch and by lunchtime they are half melted and perfect to eat.
Hi, I'm starting phentermine today, pill not injection, but wanted to peek in here.
For those having ins denials, I am not going through insurance because I too was denied and it's $31 a month for the phentermine and there's coupons all over online I'm finding.
