We are going to a Super Bowl party, and I need a side. I don't have a lot of mental energy, so I need it to be literally the easiest thing to make ever.
I asked the host, and she was not helpful in pointing me in a direction. She said anything that goes with wings.
If I didn't feel like cooking then I would bring chips, or store bought cookies, but I am looking for just 1 step up from that since I brought the store bought cookies to the last 2 get togethers.
This is my go to for gatherings. It's not too time consuming and is addictive. Also to be fair, I usually just use full fat cream cheese and sour cream, but I like this method of mixing with the salsa vs other recipes I've seen.
People are suggesting things I don't think are easy.
I would do the queso dip where you melt Velveeta and Rotel together and put in a crock pot, with tortilla chips. You can bring gaucamole also if you want.
Or brownies (mix; I know everyone likes Ghirardelli but I prefer Pillsbury dark chocolate) or Rice Krispie bars--you don't have to keep anything hot or cold and everyone loves something sweet. If you are more motivated, Toll House bars.
Or go to Costco (or similar) and buy something frozen and see if she is okay with you baking it there so it's hot, like taquitos or egg rolls or whatever.
Buy a deli dip or bring a cheese dip to serve with a giant hot pretzel (from frozen) or the pretzel bite rolls.
My go-to easy appetizer is cheddar bacon ranch dip.
16 oz sour cream 1 pkg ranch dip mix 1 c shredded sharp cheddar 3 tb (or 1 pkg) bacon pieces (fresh cooled bacon would be better, but then it’s not super easy)
Mix the sour cream & ranch first, then add the cheese and bacon. Best if made the night before, but good at any time,
It’s good with pretzels, crackers, chips, and veggies.
I’d probably do some kind of chips/crackers and dip:
- Block of cream cheese with pepper jelly on top, and wheat thins - Chips and salsa/guac/queso - Buffalo chicken dip and tortilla chips or pita chips - 7-layer (or any variation) and tortilla chips
Another option is Caprese skewers with fresh mozzarella, cherry tomatoes, and basil, potentially drizzled with balsamic glaze (you can buy this in bottles).
Meatballs in a crockpot with bbq sauce and grape jelly or whatever it is that people like.
Swedish meatballs in the crockpot (I saw some at Costco today)
Or really just go to Costco/Sams and find an appetizer that looks good, then just heat it up.
I make a sausage dip that's legit super easy. I use the "hot" version of Rotel and sausage for our household, but might go with reg sausage and med/mild Rotel for a group.
Anyways it's: 1 package sausage (the Jimmy Dean in a roll type) 1 block cream cheese 1 can Rotel
Brown sausage. Drain fat if there's a lot. Cut the cream cheese up a bit and add to pan over low heat. Stir until melted. Add can of Rotel and mix. Do no drain Rotel.
Serve with tortilla chips.
My H can make this and he does absolutely no cooking lol
But also upon rereading you could do a veggie tray? And that French onion/sour cream mix to go with it. Goes with wings, super easy if you buy the veggie tray.
I’d just do store bought dip and chips. If you have an Aldi’s I love their street corn dip which is a little different than just a traditional grocery store dip. Their Mexicali dip is good too.
Just making a box of brownies or Rice Krispie treats are an easy quick dessert. I’ve done Rice Krispie treats or brownies with sprinkles to match the occasion - could do red since both teams are red if you wanted a little step up.
Another vote for jalapeno popper dip. I serve with veggies, but tortilla chips or frito scoops are good, too.
I saw Costco had a soft pretzel bites + cheese kit that looked good.
Another crowd pleaser is stromboli-grab premade pizza dough (trader joes has some. Or Pillsbury), pepperoni, mozzerella. Roll out dough, layer cheese and pep, roll up into a log. Bake til browned, then slice into 1 inch slices. You can serve with pizza sauce if you want.

I ended up going with this one becuase it seemed one of the easiest. I bought bacon bits but I did also have a few slices left over from breakfast, so I didn't have to cook anything extra for it. It was tasty! The taco and sausage dips sounded good also. I was in the mood for dips.
