DD is finally back in school after being sick with pneumonia for two weeks. It only took 3 pediatrician visits to finally get her antibiotics after them insisting it was 'just a virus'
Be aware that if you, external lawyer, send a locked document to me out of the blue "for your client's signature" it will not deter me from offering edits because I'm not an idiot. Especially when your client wants something from my client.
I bought high waisted jeans for the first time, and I think I am a convert. I am a size 16 or so with a belly so I was always afraid they would feel too constricting, but they are actually fairly comfortable and I love that I'm not constantly adjusting them to avoid them getting too low. I bought Judy Blues and so far they are worth the hype.
I feel like I've done so much adulting on the phone today lol. Called the water company to ask some questions, called my periodontist to make my yearly appointment, and called an auto shop to schedule new rear brakes for my car. Whew, I'm tapped out on the phone now.
H and I are going to a presentation tonight at a local high school. Something on kids and social media and Internet safety. Not my idea of weeknight fun (honestly I prefer to go nowhere on weeknights lol), but he wanted to go, and his parents live right by the school so we can drop DS off. I'm sure it'll be worthwhile.
Is anyone else's kid just super grumpy after school? I had always knew/heard that it was rough in Kindergarten, but my first grader is just an emotional disaster after school sometimes and is so grumpy/rude. Doesn't want to answer any questions about his day, doesn't want to do anything, responds in a salty manner to basically everything I say, cries easily, its so hard to deal with sometimes! Like, I've missed him all day and want to hear how things went and he wants nothing to do with me, lol.
wildrice, I enjoy a high rise jean as well. Every time I wear my older skinny jeans now, I feel like I'm hiking them up all the time or they're too low around my waist when I'm seated or whatever.
My H hates them and any type of "mom jeans" though lol. Oh well, dressing for my own comfort here.
The road crew started at 7am sharp this morning and have been on our street for almost 4 hours now. It blows my mind that they really thought they could have the entire neighborhood milled down within 2 days. There's no way they'll finish everything today, especially since rain is coming in this afternoon. I am so unsettled and jumpy 🥴
Black cat and white cat have claimed different corners under our bed, and orange cat is posted at the top of the stairs as lookout. My poor babies are so anxious 😰

A lot of days DD doesn't feel like talking after school, so we just let her decompress for a while and have a snack/watch TV. Then she'll come around and talk to us. I kind of get it, sometimes after work I wish I could just go home and not talk to anyone!
shauni27 I really think he will somehow be surprised even though I don't know what he expects me to do at this point. It will take about 6 weeks for the papers to be ready for me to serve him. I don't plan to say a word until the papers are ready and the atty said I can have him served or he can pick them up at her office. I think I will tell him when they are ready and give him that option, and have a couple of nights away planned for me and DD to let the dust settle. I'm hoping it will work out so they are ready over the April school break.
noodleoo I didn't keep that appointment since I've already been working with my therapist. I think DD probably senses that something is going on though we don't argue or anything. Telling her is going to be awful but I have to keep reminding myself that he brings nothing to this relationship but hurt and in the long term she will be so much better off that I got away from him. We both will be.
Oh good, I'm glad you have your own therapist to support you through this. I'm sure you and your DD will be better off based on the things you've posted! I'm sure she knew he was mad yesterday and living in a house with anger/tension like that sucks even if she may not realize it yet.
beerlover , yup my 8 year old still has days like that. It is not every day, but some days she seems emotionally spent and there is a lot of sobbing in the evenings. It is hard. She's always been an emotional kid and she's having some friend stuff going on at school too. I've noticed after school is not a good time to talk about that stuff and we also have TV/decompressing time in the evenings.
beerlover my kids are 12 and almost 16 and it's still best not to talk to them immediately after school until they've had a snack and some time to decompress.
And Friday night plans are just a complete no-go. By the end of the week they are done.

LOL this is still true for me as an adult. By friday all I want is to curl up on the couch in my PJs and watch TV.
beerlover, E is in 5th and we've always tried to give her some time when she comes through the door. Usually she is starving and is better after a snack.
Sometimes she comes home and will chat while she's also snacking, but I try and give her time to just relax.
Realized that being away for Easter means I DON'T HAVE TO COOK FOR EASTER!!!!!!!! Now how do I make a little Easter basket for my son that I can hide in my carryon? LOL
You could pack the items in an opaque bag/pouch and then take supplies to make a paper basket when you get to your destination. Or maybe you can find a collapsible paper/felt/etc. basket that you could flatten for packing. Or you could just give him the bag/pouch instead of a basket!
I will try to shut my mouth in the car on the way home and keep low expectations, lol.
He does have a longer day than some since he goes to aftercare so he's probably just tired of people by that point.
We already do TV and a snack right after he gets home (or on some of these nice days I'll take him to the park or we'll throw a ball around), and his mood is typically improved after that. I kind of hate the immediate TV after school though, I'd rather him get homework and other things done first so we don't have to do it after dinner, but I do think he needs that break.
He does kinda need to get it together once baseball starts and he has 3 practices a week tho.. eek.
Oh, but in happy news, I signed up for my usual CSA and this year instead of everyone getting what they give you, it sounds like you can pick and choose a little. Yay to not having 5 million garlic scapes!

I hate insurance and our healthcare system. I take $$$ meds and my local pharmacy told me they can no longer get them for me because they are literally losing money on them. My insurance does not cover the full amount. My only option in my small town is Walmart. I hate going into Walmart with my whole soul.

That is great, a little felt basket would be cute. Totally unnecessary but I love keeping my rep as always being able to surprise. We're landing Easter morning it would be hilarious if he woke up on the plane with an Easter basket on the tray table!!!

I don't know what your medications are, but try Amazon pharmacy. DS2 gets 7 prescriptions a month and I never have so much as a hiccup with them. Amazon will also search for coupons before placing the order to get the best price available.
My son's 11th birthday is in 2 days. He doesn't want a cake or basically any acknowledgement of his birthday. Other than presents, I'm sure he will happily take presents lol. He's having a birthday party with friends next weekend. He doesn't want me to plan any activities and he didn't want any theme on the invitation - just keep it plain. I miss the days of him actually, you know, liking things. lol.

Maybe try getting them through the mail? H gets his meds through Birdi. He has one that has to be refrigerated and it comes packed in a box with ice packs.

I just got the conditional approval for my mortgage refinance. I'm so close to being rid of exH forever.
Speaking of exH, apparently he blocked my number. I tried texting him about the items that I had found to get them back to him and it didn't go through, so at least I tried to be the bigger person, and from here on out, any of his stuff I find I'm just going to throw it out. Good riddance.
I am so mad today in anticipation of the time change this weekend.
+1 I have (ir)rational anxiety over how tired I'll be next week that it's effecting my this week. I've gone to bed earlier the last 2 nights, but only because I'm so exhausted, and then I just wake up 4 times anyway. I'm still mad the no more time change never went through, however I knew it wouldn't and would side eye anyone who was like "yeah this is the last time we change the clocks bruh!" Also want to shoot anyone who says "it's just an hour" straight to the moon.
I need to vote tonight, but have an apt at 6 PM that's kind of messing up my night. I think I'll squeeze in voting sometime today, I just hate watching the clock rather than going end of day and then doing whatever else I need to do.
I'm still chipping away at "None of This is True" as it's due back in 4 days and I have 200 pages left. I take FULL responsibility when I complain in the reading thread that it sucked because of all of the comments warning me to stop. Part of me wonders why I'm still rushing to finish as almost 200 pages in I don't see where the plot is going...but now I have to know.
Finally, DH had mentioned that we really need to try to get one weekend away, even if it's just late Fri - Sunday, before the summer. I think I found one weekend in early May that *might* work pending my stuff is finally in a better place, but I'm kind of bummed about thinking of that much more time before a break. I really miss having a lot of PTO (even though my last job never let me use it.)

lavenderblue, sorry if I missed an update. Without getting too far in to your financial biz, did you appraise for what you needed?
wildrice, this is a real random as I haven't read the whole thread today. I've been thinking of you and your family, and hope things are stable, if not better.
I’m exhausted by entitled parents. I really do think my time as a GS leader is coming to an end.
Patsy Baloney you are doing the Lord’s work. I only helped my friend lead, and the parent drama was insane. I’m sorry your parents aren’t respecting your time.

When we have traveled for Easter, I bought the felt baskets that fold/scrunch up. I also premade the basket insides- filled the eggs with jelly beans, chocolates, $/toys- and put them in large ziplock with the grass. That way I didn't take time away from our vacation.
I also tried to make things heavily edible and coupons for things while on the trip. Less to bring home.

last year we were in PR for Easter which was great, because for some reason I really dislike Easter hoopla. We chartered a boat to take us to a private island for the day and it was amazing.
When we came home my mom had done a little easter hunt for S to do around the house.
Someone at school drop off this morning was driving a new G wagon. We live in a middle class area and 99% of people drive Subarus or Honda type cars so it definitely stuck out.
I need to take DS2 to an eye specialist this week, he has an eye that kind of drifts sometimes. I really hope they don’t try to get him to wear a patch to treat it (do they even do those anymore?) because I know it would be a total battle.

Again +1
My former colleague who didn't run a troop, but did a LOT because she had the time (SAHM, then PT work) said she was quiet cheering when her kids decided to give up Scouts going in to HS. @patsybaloney I think you're fine to step down when you need too as you've done more than the lion's share.
Years ago I attended a "get to know the Girl Scouts and how you can volunteer" meeting, which lead to one parent leaving before it was over. I explained I don't have a kid, I don't have time for a whole (Daisy) troop. If anything I want to stock cookies when they come in, or maybe attend a couple of meetings if they happen after 6 PM as I can't miss work. Shockingly they first went around and around with starting a Daisy's who'd meet around 3 PM, then they never followed up with me because I didn't even bite. Sadly I wasn't mad about it.
I have so much more appreciation for my mom and my girlfriend for all that they did for Scouts. Totally get why they complained about it being called "free babysitting' as well.
