Have my first gynecologist appointment in... a lot of years this afternoon. All the perimenopause talk lately inspired me to have a bigger conversation with a doc about my ongoing symptoms. I was really looking forward to it, but now I'm weirdly nervous and fighting an urge to cancel. (I'm not going to cancel. But having a weird flight response for some reason).

I had the first of my two interviews today and I HAVE A JOB OFFER!
I walked in and she said everybody was super excited that I was applying and interviewing, and she told two of the doctors who were VERY excited about it!
One of the docs saw me when I walked in and told me that he was really glad to see me interviewing over here and he can’t wait to work with me over here.
My wage is a smidge lower than what I am currently getting but my differentials will have me making more.
I’m almost positive this will be the offer I take but I’m still going to interview at the other hospital.
I mentioned yesterday that I swapped my WFH day this week and it's a good thing I did that because it turns out it's just me and one other person in the office and both of my front desk student staff called off. It's fine because it's pretty quiet today but I'm also a little annoyed that it doesn't occur to the other supervisors that it's important to look at calendars so we don't have every one out or remote. I coordinate that with the staff I supervise and it makes things easier - not always possible but at least try.
It's looking like my kid is going to go to a week long sleep away camp this summer and I'm in my feelings about it. She's 11 so she is ready but I'm stuck in the "she's too young to be away from a week!!" and it's a camp that's about 3 hours away from us. Logically I know she will be fine and have a blast but I'm still nervous for some reason.
I didn't have anything at home to bring for lunch today so now that it's lunch time nothing from the food court in my building sounds good. womp womp

Congratulations!! I'm so glad you're getting out of the toxic place and going to where you're already valued!

As a s/o to the cats because I didn't want to bring down that thread, I've been gone 10 days. Even my least social cat has been hanging out, purring, especially guarding me on the toilet. My lap/chest have not been my own for hours. Which is lovely.
Sadly, there's a chance the youngest, my velcro, might be disappeared, quite likely on purpose. And it's a long story as to why we think that. We've had to make police reports against direct threats of poisoning. Dog poo has been thrown at our front door and on our cars when, you know, it's kind of obvious it's not any cats, not mine and not the strays around, leaving huge droppings rather than the packs of dogs wandering the neighborhood. And while I hate that they're indoor/outdoor for many reasons, without a/c except in my tiny bedroom, without screens, and year round temps of 80-100, it's just an unfortunate fact of life that they come and go as they please, even when usually the only open windows usually are on the 2nd floor.
People also kidnap cats and sell them in pet shops, but my other not crazy neighbors know ours by name and pet them, so I don't think that's likely on my dead end street where they really don't wander past sitting under the cars or up a small tree.
Partner was here, noticed food in front of our gate that wasn't ours. He should have immediately saved it for police or at minimum thrown it out. He saw it again the next day in front of hers after he kicked it away (like that does anything!) So in addition to being quite sad, I'm also pretty angry and not just at the crazy neighbor. Police will likely visit her tomorrow. At least they take these things pretty seriously and have warned her in the past.
There are many many reports of people poisoning strays. It's as known a problem as the out of control stray situation.
L has been asking to go see Olivia Rodrigo, but I keep telling her it's too much. My bff who has a daughter the same age and I just planned a trip for the four of us to go to Seattle to see her. We booked hotels and I got the concert tickets last night. L is going to lose her mind, and I think I got decent tickets for way cheaper than it would have been here. I'm so excited.
Have you seen the tt video of a group going to see her concert and the brother comes down dressed fully as a vampire? makeup and all? so funny.
My laundry room is literally 8 steps from my WFH desk. I have to walk by it to get to the kitchen. Laundry is a perfect WFH household task. So, why is there a load in the dryer and two piles sorted for washing on the floor?!
Because laundry is the worst? The act of washing and drying aren't so bad, IMO. Folding and putting away? Miserable.
Yep. I pretty much leave it there till my partner gets sick of looking at it then he folds and puts it away Every 2 months or so I surprised him and actually do my laundry and put it away within a day and then I expect praises lol.

Haha same here! My clothes are literally the only laundry I'm in charge of putting away (my partner does his own, our son's, and household stuff), and half the time he ends up putting mine away because he's tired of there being a basket or two of my clean clothes sitting in our room!
My nose is swollen today, but not crooked like it was yesterday post procedure, so that's good.
Eta Just adding to this that my nose is not normally crooked and I was not aware it was crooked yesterday as I had a bandage on and was mostly trying to keep my head back due to bleeding so DH changed the bandage. When I took it off this AM he stood and stared at me and was like "Great, it's not crooked anymore". Never bothered to tell me yesterday. That would have been a shock to see in the mirror this morning. I will say I missed the call from my ENT last night as I had the sound on my phone off and after I told DH like no biggie since I'm not having complications and he did pause and said "Oh, ok". Now I understand he was having an internal debate like do I tell her or no?🤣

We are leaving for spring break today. My house is a pit. I have been so productive cleaning it in the past 24 hours. It still looks like a pit…but better. Why do I have to wait until the 11th hour to get my ass in gear?! Anyway, I just lit into my family because of this. We picked the kids up from school early. My teen and tween wanted to shower. Both kids just leave their school clothes and a towel on the floor like the cleaning fairy is going to sweep in after them. Yes I yelled at them to come pick it up, but why do I always have to be the noticer? Someone got pee on the seat. Thankfully I noticed before I came home to a urine smelling bathroom. They all got out water…and just left their cups on the table. Those I did have to pick up because I noticed them after they’d gotten in the car. This is why my house is a pit…they’ve all just gotten an ear full. I really don’t know how to teach them to be better/
I have a formal business event today and accidentally dressed like a cross between Sicilian Mob Wife (a look I'm prone to anyway) and Wednesday Adams. It's too late to really do anything about it so I think I'll just drink heavily.

Lol exactly, same same. I’m pretty much in charge of all her food stuff and he’s in charge of buying her clothes and laundry. Yet I still slack. It’s literally the worse chore.
I normally don't hate laundry as much as most people, but since moving to this house 4 years ago I've gotten worse - we live on a tri level with bedrooms on the top and laundry on the bottom floor. Two flights of stairs dragging a basket and up down the stairs is NOT motivating. Our two apartments both had laundry within like 10 feet of the bedroom and it was amazing. I tend to just do a load here and there throughout the week so that it is never a big project to get everything clean, but sometimes that doesn't happen and then I really hate having to do multiple trips back and forth in the same day.
Our cleaners were just here, so the house is super clean now! I had delayed it a few days because I prefer to be here to wrangle pets when they are here, and I had to work in the office the last few days so couldn't do that. I'll be OOT during the next scheduled cleaning so I think it will be almost 3 weeks now before they come back, and I'm sure the place will be filthy by then, too. I mean we do some light touch ups in between but it's never all clean at once unless the cleaners are here. At least I won't be here for a lot of that time, lol.
DD2 is in Rochester with DECA through school. Her presentation was last night. She sent me pics of her in her business attire and she looks so grown up!
Since DD2 is away, DD1 and I will be going out to eat tonight. Not sure yet where we’ll go.
I got a PT job at Wegmans, in the bakery, to help with my medical bills from my surgery and to pay off some debts and save more for a bigger house (only have 2 bedrooms now). So far I’m not a huge fan of the bread side, but I’m liking the desserts side.
A friend of mine went to the Philippines for 2 1/2 weeks to visit her cousin and cousin-in-law (who is from there). She met a guy (cousin-in-law’s nephew) and fell in love. He is coming to the US on a fiance visa and they will be getting married. I am shocked because she is not a spontaneous person. I really hope it works out - she is so smitten with him.
Why are people incapable of fully reading and answering emails? Because I cannot stand to go back and forth with people my emails are always drilled down to exactly what is needed and extremely clear. I have asked someone for the same information over, and over again and each time they answer 1 thing at most. Wake the fuck up people!
My H bought an electric car in September and we promptly submitted the California Clean Energy $2000 rebate request on 9/4. There is no progress on his rebate yet and it’s driving us both crazy. I try to check daily because they state that if additional paperwork is requested and not received within 3 days they will cancel your application. H is really bad about checking his email and although this shouldn’t be my responsibility, I don’t want to miss out on $2000.
A lizard just scurried across my foot when I walked outside. I think I just lost 10 years of my life. I cannot stand lizards!
Why? I normally really like little lizards. We used to catch them for a few minutes entertainment. Now that I have cats they're sadly rare. I hate iguanas but only because they're invasive released pets from assholes in S FL that wreak havoc on native fauna.
I won't share pics or too many details of when about a 2ft monitor lizard, relatively small for them, somehow, and I don't really know how, ended up in an interior toilet, the only toilet we have. Thankfully there's a very quick responding animal relocation line, as they're protected.
I'm actually pretty cool with them, too, when I see them in the wild. They're not aggressive toward humans, not even usually toward small mammals, but cornered in a bathroom, no thank you!
Last week I was going to make chicken but we ended up doing something else. When I went to put the chicken in the freezer, it was one day past the use by date. I froze it, and then I defrosted it yesterday morning and was going to eat it last night- but then we ended up going out for a friend birthday. so it’s in my fridge on day 2 of being defrosted. I suspect it’s fine as long as it looks and smells ok? I guess my concern is that by the time I froze it, it was already a day past the use by date and now I didn’t use it immediately after thawing so maybe that’s not a great idea. Help lol.

My answer (as the resident trash panda lol) depends on the method of defrosting.
If you went the safer route and thawed in the fridge, it's likely fine. Test with smell and touch. I'd give it a good rinse too, but if it's gone bad you will absolutely still smell the funk.
If you thawed it on the counter, refroze, thawed on the counter again and then refrigerated for two days... it might still be okay, but even I would be more hesitant (and would probably 'accidentally' overcook it juuuust a bit). I'd use smell and touch again - and if it's super slimy I'd probably toss.
Either way, the texture is going to be tougher because it was frozen/thawed twice. But I have absolutely cooked chicken (and many other things lol) that were a day or two past the use by date.
Ultimately, trust your senses 😊
My credentials: I have only ever had food poisoning from a hot buffet in Vegas. I had never had swordfish. I will likely never eat swordfish again.
And yes, I am more careful when I'm feeding other people. My stomach might be iron, but I'm not risking the health of others just because I think it would be okay for me.

I did thaw it some on the counter so we decided against it. Stomach distress isn’t worth the $8 or whatever lol.
I had my first mammogram this afternoon, and I was more than a little nervous about it since my younger sister (40) was diagnosed with breast cancer last month. Thankfully my results came back normal, though my breast tissue is dense so they want me to do a different type of scan in the future that will involve an iodine contrast delivered via IV. Still breathing a big sigh of relief tonight.
Aww. Those itty bitty things that can camoflage and regrow tails? In many cultures seeing them at night is good luck. They make the cutest little calls, and they chow down on mosquitos.
I've literally never heard anyone say they're afraid of them. I'm just surprised. I'm laughing, but not meanly. Don't ever go to the caribbean or s fl (those fucking invasive iguanas and the gators that actually have a right to be there, just sunning like nbd)! Or Hawaii. And for sure not SE Asia
