I think if it was in the moment, I would have said something at the store while I was there. I also think that if it bothered me enough I would contact customer service. But I probably wouldn't drive all the way back to the store because it would be more annoying to do that than eat the rice. I guess if it was really really bad, I would have tried to salvage it and make my own rice?
I would likely have done nothing, but if I had a minute and was in a certain mood, I might have called to let them know. The last time I called a restaurant like that it was a heads up that I spent the night after eating their food suddenly and violently ill. I did not blast them on social media, I did not demand compensation, I just wanted to give them a heads up to potentially save someone else of a similar fate with the salmon. The guy I spoke to did not seem to give a rat’s ass so it was probably a waste of my time to bother.
I don't think there is anything wrong with letting them know, but I wouldn't expect compensation.
This reminds me that we ordered food last weekend from a local place and it arrived barely lukewarm, despite the receipt showing that it was clearly only picked up 10 minutes before we received it. I meant to let them know since this was the second time we had received food that temperature from them - the first time I had picked it up myself, so I actually went back and got fresh food that time. This time we didn't want to go anywhere so we just stuck it in the microwave. Anyway, their food is SO good otherwise and it's a small business, so my main concern was letting them know they have a quality control issue so they can fix it. If this had been my first time there, we probably wouldn't have gone back so that's probably something they would want to prevent happening!
I forgot to actually message them though so never mind that, lol.
I appreciate the laugh! I think I needed a reality check that I can be annoyed about the rice and the meal but still do nothing
As a lover of all things rice, I think it's ok to be very annoyed at discovering undercooked rice in your bowl when you got home. It's also not out of line to expect a big corporate chain like Chipotle to throw you a refund or a free coupon or something as an apology. I just don't trust anyone in the stores to actually care and I feel like even if I told them while I was still eating there, they'd stare at me like "uh do you want to buy another bowl but with salad this time?" They always seem like robots with zero customer service skills except for maybe 1 person who seems competent and is also the manager and being pulled in 12 different directions while also training the person how to use the cash register.
