How do you pronounce biopic?
I recently heard people say it differently than I’ve always said it and thought, hmmm, that logically makes sense, but the other day I heard 2 people in the movie industry say it different ways. Apparently this is common but there is a “right” way in US English. Anyone know how people in the UK say it?
I say bye OP ick, like myopic. But I frequently hear BIO-pick, like it's a biographical picture. I am probably wrong, I read a lot and don't watch many movies.

I think it's like myopic, but it annoys me because I think it SHOULD be BIO-pic!!!
I had this conversation with H awhile back. I said it like rhymes with myopic, and he said he thought it was BIO-pic. I just avoid saying it now because now they both sound weird, lol. Idk.

My brain sees it as bye-OP-ic, but usually my mouth overrides it and says bio-pic.
I have this constant battle with my brain over words like this. I once pronounced misled like MYZ-uld and my terrible boyfriend at the time teased me mercilessly about it. After 30 years, I still say it wrong in my head.
I always thought it was bi-AH-pic (rhymes with myopic) but I’ve never actually heard anyone pronounce it that way out loud….I’ve only ever heard people pronounce it BIO-pic, which I guess makes sense.

Ok, I figured I wasn’t the only one. I was pronouncing it bye-awwp-ick / rhymes with myopic but it is pronounced Bye-oh-pik, which makes sense for a biographical picture. The wrong way just sounds right to me, like it’s the opposite of myopic and is a broad overview of someone’s life 😆

It's bio-pic in the UK too, but I'm guessing that a lot of people think it's pronounced Bi-aw-pic (my brain sees it like myopic as well).
