Rainy, lazy weekend here. We were able to complete most of our errands yesterday and I’ve been able to knock out quite a few chores by listening to “cleaning” playlist. I’m sure it’s not what the artists originally envisioned lol, but whatever works!
DS and I have been working our way through the ghostbusters movies the last few days and should watch our last one this afternoon. We did it a little backwards so today's movie is GB II. I was roughly his age when the originals came out and it’s funny to see them through his eyes.
We all have such bad coughs as the end of a virus. My kids got full panels done, twice, and nothing came up positive. But it's so bad everyone is up all night coughing and we sound too gross to be out. I'm over it and no medicine it touching it. Send me all your cough solutions!

Generic Zyrtec called citrizine. This is the only thing that dries DH out during allergy season. It has to be this though, nothing else does the trick.

I'm over London rainy weather. Happily, we'll be going to somewhere hopefully warmer and sunnier in less than a week. I had fun going through my storage to find swim suits and summer dresses, which are currently being washed.
H, my dog and I are all on couches w/little energy - Cooper went to a dog sitter for the weekend and we had a fun night of food, drink and comedy in south London. Woke up at 6.30am, then drove home and later picked up the dog, so we're feeling it (I made good choices around the drinking aspect and am not hungover).

Mucinex plus the "real" Sudafed, the stuff you have to show ID for. Oh and tea with honey and a humidifier running.

Im doing that all! Lol. I'm going to the store later to see if there's a kids version of Mucinex. They're not wet coughs, just deep.
ssmjlm I have that in kids version so I just gave some to the kids! 🤞 for them lol.

Who knows whether it’s actually true but my pediatrician says all the kids cough medicines are a scam and just to load up on honey. She recommends straight honey and then warm water mixed with honey as well.

Steroids were what helped me with a lingering cough after the flu. That, and time. It took three weeks. 😭
We gave the dogs a bite of corned beef to celebrate the border collie's birthday. They sat for 5 min. while my husband cut it up. I think they liked it. They can have my portion.

is this what a nebulizer is? I have that coming tomorrow. My kid also got an inhaler but I feel like it doesn't help at all. It was so hard though the doctor had laryngitis, and I had both kids at the appt and they weren't being bad but because the doctor could barely talk I couldn't really hear her explaining things lol.
The kids keep throwing up from coughing, and I keep peeing myself 😭 lol. And when everyone is laying down it's just nonstop coughing all night everyone is so tired.

al dente a nebulizer is a machine by which you can take a variety of meds via breathing them in as a mist thru a mask and yes steroids are one of them. There are also meds to open airways and thin out mucous. Nebulizer treatments really helped my DS1 when he was little and got pneumonia.
When I had a bad cough last fall I took a steroid in pill form.

A nebulizer dispenses an inhaled steroid and that should help some, yes. (Did they prescribe Albuterol)? It will help the inflammation settle down.
But if it continues, oral steroids (which is what I took) can also really help if the cough continues for a long time.
Near the end, the doctor also prescribed me Fluticasone Propionate, which is an inhaled steroid, but a powder. You have to rinse your mouth really well after you use it because you can get thrush. The oral steroid calmed things a lot, but this thing really kicked it out.
ETA - K has asthma and used to take daily pulmicort in his inhaler and then Albuterol when he was sick. Now, at 11, he no longer takes pulmicort, but he still takes Albuterol when he’s sick. We also prop him up on pillows and run a humidifier in his room, but the nebulizer is really what calms the cough down.
al dente, someone once told me to take Benadryl before bed for a terrible cough I had for at least a month. It worked! I slept through the night without coughing. Eventually the cough went away but no other meds worked and I finally got some sleep.
