I'm not sure which laws of space and time I planned to defy when I scheduled DD's orthodontist appointment today. She's barely getting off the bus at the current appt start time - no way to factor transit. Hopefully they can let us come in 15 min later, otherwise I'm rescheduling, which will push the appointment out another 2 weeks at least.
I will do all kinds of calendar acrobatics to avoid taking the kids out of school for regular doctor/dental appointments. Every time I do schedule hockey, they look at me like I'm insane that I can't bring a kid into their office at 10 am on a Tuesday. No thank you.
Happy Monday! My work has three random Monday “wellness” days and today is one of them so I have the day off. It’s great timing my daughter had a long gymnastics meet yesterday so I’m happy to have an extra day to get it together before the work week. We had a packed weekend, the St Paddy’s parade in out town was Saturday and it was SO nice out and such a great day. Sunday we were up north of Boston for the meet, last one of the regular season and DD won all around, beam, bars and floor. She really has been killing it this year and next stop is regionals in May! Overall great weekend and today being off I just walked to the beach after getting the girls on the bus and now just trying to decide what to do today.

I have an interview at 11 this morning. I have been at home for almost two years, I used to be great at interviews but I am rusty. Thankfully it’s the easier round with HR, but I am still nervous! This would be an amazing job financially for our family, but I am trying not to get my hopes up too high.

First day back at school after spring break and got all 3 dropped off. Running errands and just signed DD up for tennis lessons and on a whim signed myself up for refresher lessons. I played 4 years in high school and would like to take it up again and join a club.
Ordering new nightstands for our room and a couple stools for a new sofa table in the basement. Glad shipping and delivery times on furniture have greatly improved since a couple years ago.
DD says she cannot hear out of her left ear. No pain or fever. I don't see a bunch of wax in there. I gave her Claritin yesterday and today and will continue a few more days, but may need to run her to the doctor this week.
DH leaves for a work trip to Mexico tomorrow, but I really don't have to do anything as he packs himself.

preppy, my coworker and I were talking about how "wellness" days should be a common thing for work now. Ideally they would be like sick days, where you can take one as needed for mental health or if it's a nice day outside and you want to get out and do something. My company does not have "wellness" days, but I definitely think we should.
Weekend was not the best - DD and her Odyssey of the Mind team did not get first or second place at state, so they are not moving on to World Finals this year. But it was definitely a learning opportunity for them. Even though they scored highest of the 9 teams in their problem and division, and scored 2nd highest for "style," due to their Spontaneous score, they ended up in 3rd place. So they are committed to practicing more on Spontaneous problems for next season.
I took a big step and had my first therapy appointment today. It was telehealth but I was still scared and nervous. It went really well, I really like the therapist.
I’m hoping this helps with my general anger and judgemental-ness I’ve been struggling with lately.
DS is 11 today! He was so excited about all of his presents this morning, it was super cute.
We spent a big chunk of the weekend managing the logistics of DD being at science fair regionals; it felt so busy but totally worth it as she and her partner placed third in their category! Especially proud as they're freshmen, and had basically zero idea of what to expect at the event. They're already plotting next year's research.
I really could have used another weekend day though. I even dreamed about all of the things I need to get done at work and home last night
A couple years ago I ordered a pair of new balance that I could easily throw on to walk the dog during WFH. I liked them so much, I ended up ordering a second pair to have 2 pairs to rotate when we went to Universal.
It is really hard for me to find shoes that work for my high arches.
I just ordered another pair and they changed the design. They work ok, but not as well as the old design.
On Friday I asked how many kids yall thought would show up to my son's birthday party Saturday. We had invited 14, and had 6 yes RSVPs. Well in the final 24 hours before the party, we got 4 more yeses, so 10 total. How many showed up? 15. Fifteen 10/11 year old boys running around my house. It was total chaos, I even ran out of some of the food. At least we have a big wooded backyard and we sent them out there to play for a while. I am glad we did it, but thanks to this I will be way overbuying food for parties for the next 10 years probably.

L closed her 20th show with her theater company last night. The director recognized her at the end of the show and presented her with a poster with all 20 shows represented. She was so surprised. It was neat.

They just sent a message from daycare informing us that our beginning of the year meeting is at 11 am on a Tuesday. Umm, sorry but no.
But I also recently complained about how it would be helpful if they could give us advance notice of things and know other parents complained as well, so I think this might be an attempt to correct that. In the past at the general parent meetings (we have one March 27) they've handed out a sign up sheet for the one-on-ones the following week, so this is definitely more notice, but it's still sort of a fail.

My one and only pair of work-appropriate jeans have a hole in the crotch thanks to my thick thighs rubbing. Now I have to go jeans shopping and I'd literally rather do anything else but that. Where does everyone shop for flattering plus-sized jeans?

I'm vaguely concerned about this scenario this weekend too- DS took seven invitations to school and we emailed one. I've got four RSVPs from parents, all yeses. That *should* be five kids including DS, but he tells me two? maybe three? others said they'd be there. We're just ordering pizza though, so I can gauge how much once the party starts at least.
We had a very rough weekend with DS1, and I need to call first thing to make him a therapy appointment, and one for H and I as we really need help helping him. Luckily the weekend ended on a good note with playtime outside and a board game that both seemed to life his spirits.
I have a physical tomorrow and am so curious to see my bloodwork results as I’ve been working out and eating well for the first time in years.
scm1011, emilyinchile, One kid brought a sibling. It was at our house, so not a super big deal. And that dad stayed the whole time, so that was something at least. My son told me all his friends said they were coming, I just wasn't sure what to believe since I hadn't heard from the parents.

OMG no thank you. The kids are 11!! Unless this dad is your friend I'd be so annoyed lol.
DS(7) woke up barfing at 6:30am. So now I'm trying to find an afternoon sub so H and I can split the day home with DS. I hate finding subs. I can just enter it in and have whoever take it but I always ask the subs I know first.

Friend is a stretch, but we know him from when we used to do scouts, so maybe you could say we are friendly with the family. Two other moms stayed, they both blamed it on overprotective husbands. I steered them towards each other so I didn't have to entertain them the whole time lol.

YOU GOT THIS! If they do not see the value in you, you don't want to work for them.
I have a second round interview and I have been home for 15 years!
"Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies-"God damn it, you've got to be kind.”

lavenderblue, I like Maurices M jeans. I'm apple shaped and they work well for me.
karinothing, what part of Costa Rica are you going to? I'd love an update!
Diabetes is being a PITA. My blood sugar dropped a little low yesterday afternoon, then twice at night. This morning it doesn't want to stay as high as I wish it would. The ups and downs are making me feel crummy.
