I'm a Peloton user and would love the Tread but it's just way out of my price range right now. I just want something that is solid, has an incline option, and won't break the bank.
wanderingback do you use the iFit software and if so have you had any issues? I love my ProForm bike/iFit and have considered their treadmill but after 3 years the software is unusable. I had to do a hard restart every time I wanted to use it and even that doesn't work any more.

I guess I should’ve given a caveat. We haven’t lived in the house with the treadmill for a few years now. So it doesn’t get used regularly (we go back about once every 4-8 weeks at this point). However, last year during my maternity leave we were there for a few months and my partner did use it regularly, and as far as I know had no problems with it. I never used any of the scenery or programs on it. I always just set it to my running speed and that was it. My partner mostly walks on it with an incline.

My sister is a pretty serious runner and loves her Sole Fitness F63 treadmill. She’s currently in residency, so money is fairly tight, and one of the doctors she works with recommended this one as his favorite. She is a triathlete and has run a few marathons and is doing an iron man this year, so hers gets very heavy use. It’s basic, no screen, no app compatibility, etc, but she doesn’t need or want those features, just a sturdy treadmill that can handle her long runs.

So if you like Peleton, I'm guessing you would like iFit too. My ProForm treadmill broke over the summer, and I had a hard time getting it repaired. I continued using the iFit program to do floor exercises (yoga and crossfit programs) while I was waiting for it to be repaired, and also looked into buying a new treadmill. When I was looking, there were no other programs out there other than Peleton or iFit where there was video of a trainer on location and the treadmill moving with you, and I really wanted that, so my options to replace if I went that route were either another ProForm, or NordicTrack. I was about to buy a NordicTrack after the repair guy write my machine off as a lost cause when my friend's computer programer dh was able to get my machine working again. I literally use it at least 6 days a week, sometimes doing 2 programs a day (1 on the treadmill, and then another yoga or crossfit on the floor), and I haven't had any trouble with it since.
So all that to say, I am a big fan of iFit, and if I were buying again, I'd get a NordicTrack (they have slightly better reviews than the ProForm). But if you don't care about videos of trainers on location and just want a program that moves the machine up and down with nothing to watch/listen to, I would go with a Sole.

NordicTrack w/ iFit. I love it. You have to run the software on a 2.4ghz wireless because the tablets they use in the consoles won't connect well on 5 (lots of lag, freezes, etc.). I learned that from Reddit.
I have the Peloton tread and I do really like it. If you area Peloton user, then the interface between the bike and the tread is similar, intuitive and it does enhance the experience--also I use the scenic runs a lot. I understand that the tread feels expensive. Something to consider is watching FB marketplace and Craigslist. I think as time goes on and as the Tread + rolls out they will appear for resale. Maybe not as much as the bikes, but I think they will show up.

Damn, after almost a year of my iFit bike not working I found a different suggestion on Reddit that seems to have fixed it for now. I don't know why I never thought to look there, thanks for mentioning it!
Are the treadmills today still really hard on your legs, in terms of impact and shin splints and stuff? Or have they improved a lot? I keep wanting to get some kind of home exercise equipment. I’ve never been able to pull the trigger on the peloton because I really don’t particularly enjoy biking. I’ve always felt more likely to walk or run, but I’m also concerned about the impact and if I would develop leg or foot problems overtime now that I am almost 50.
Strangely, I feel like if I did get a treadmill, I would be more likely to also do spin off routines with weights or yoga, or whatever, once I was in exercise clothes, and using the app.
There are some brands that will allow you to connect to the Peloton app via bluetooth. Horizon is one of them. Brands that utilize iFit will not connect.
We are on treadmill #2 in 13+ years. Each from Academy for under $900. Nearly all walking with limited running. We rarely use incline and ignore all other features.
Only advice I have is to check the product after (self) assembly. We had some things broken, put in a service ticket, and had 3 big things replaced for free the first month. It's been great since.

Have you considered a rower? I love mine and find I am more likely to follow a workout on it with a quick strength routine, and it’s no impact. My H has a stationary bike and I hate it. I’m considering adding a treadmill so am interested in the recs and answer to your question!

They aren't any harder on your body than other forms of running, they induce a different kind of stress and they aren't the only thing that causes injury
There are a few different kinds of belts that can reduce shin splints, and I've worked out on treadmills that were "softer"
Treadmill belts "drag" your leg through the action of the belt, and this can cause a different type of soreness or injury than what you might experience outside, and what you might experience outside on trails, vs track for instance.
One more thing: my treadmill has class options, scenic runs, and you can run entertainment through it now. Plus it obviously has incline and speed, plus tracking changes. All these *bells and whistles* absolutely increase usage and adherence thus making the higher price worth the investment. I've had my pelo tread for two years and I've run like over 10k minutes on it lol.
Running on treadmills can be kind of..monotonous, but they have tons of advantages. I'm confused as to why one would go so bare bones, monastic on something like this and make the experience as dry as possible because that's a sure fire way to impact adherence, and no matter what you pay, if you don't use it bc its boring, you wasted the money.

I also have this treadmill. Not a runner but I walk for an hour 5-6 times a week. I have been happy with it. Had it almost a year.
