I was super careful not to get my hair wet in our vacation’s chlorinated pool. I did wash my hair here twice in the shower and I noticed greenish hues on some highlights (actually someone else noticed it).
Supposedly it might be from the chemicals in the water here like copper. If you’ve ever had this, what did you use? I’m seeing Swimmer’s Hair or baking soda mixture that could help?
I naturally have really blonde hair. Like nearly white when I was a kid. My hair would turn like green, it was so embarrassing. We washed my hair with lemon juice and I think it helped? This was also 30 years ago, so not many options probably.
It honestly stopped happening as I got older. I assumed maybe it was to do with puberty or different chemicals in pools. I guess I didn’t think this still happened, I’m so sorry it has! I’ve heard of the purple shampoo, but I always thought it was to take the brassy/yellow out. Not sure about green. BUT maybe it’ll help take the tone in your hair out that is turning green?
Good luck. Maybe people will just think you were really into St Patrick’s Day and it’s taking some time to wash out?
Would a swim shampoo help? We did Paul Mitchell's shampoo 3 clarifying- removes chlorine, but we don't have blonde hair/ hilights. Otherwise, maybe go back to the hair dresser, they may be able to add a toner to help.
Ok douche, go ahead and call it mud. My husband DID have halitosis. We addressed it after I talked to you girls on here and guess what? Years later, no problem. Mofongo, you're a cunt. Eat shit. ~anonnamus
Probably not the right answer for you, but we found suave clarifying shampoo to be the most effective after swim shampoo for my kid. We tried a lot of fancier ones but that worked best for improving her hair texture and health during swim season.
This happened to me for the first time last summer. I did a wash of tomato sauce and that helped a bit. Then, a wash of baking soda and that helped a bit more. And finally a little pack of Malibu Swimmers Hair off amazon. All three of those got me back to nearly perfect. The last tiny twinge just took a few washes and I stopped noticing it after that.

Not the point of this thread but this is me too. My nearly white hair would turn green from the pool when I was a kid. I could never figure out why it stopped happening years later when my hair slightly darkened to (still very light) blonde. Maybe the pools stopped using so much chlorine around that time? I've noticed our public pools are mainly salt water now.

I’ve never heard of that, but I’m guessing the acidity may have something to do with it, since we used lemon juice when I was a kid. Trying to balance the ph levels or something? I don’t know, I’m no chemist, but I did own a pool for a few years and pretended to be one. I definitely didn’t put tomato sauce in the water though 😆
