Specific Easter candy question - coconut egg

About twenty (!!) years ago, a colleague brought us fancy coconut eggs for Easter. This person was from NE US. The eggs were egg-sized and had shredded coconut filling that was white. The shell was chocolate but - and here is the part I can't find - the shell had toasted coconut mixed into it. So the shell texture was very unusual. Anyone know what I'm talking about? Pretty sure they were in trays and not individually wrapped. I've looked off and on for 20 yrs. Thanks!

Ok I googled and there’s one called “butter krack”
Zitners makes the best coconut eggs! I think it’s a Philadelphia brand but not sure if it’s REGIONAL 😛

That is an interesting story that seems to have staved off a corporate ending in 2010. I've never had this but I'm going to look for them at Wawa now.

Those eggs are the literal best. I've done a good job so far this year not buying myself any Easter candy but I think being reminded of this deliciousness might be too much pressure LOL

I am disgusted I am only hearing about them now and not when I was in PA all weekend!

Apparently Boscov’s sells them and they would let me pick them up but I can’t tell if they are actually in stock locally or if they will be sent down from PA. I’ve never been there but will for eggs!

ETA and they canceled my order so maybe they don’t sell them in locations down here

I realize now I have taken these for granted! When OP was describing them I could taste them and feel how the coating slightly crunches and melts in your mouth (it’s pretty unique) but I had no idea they were not an everybody thing! They were just coconut eggs.

Hopefully if this board doesn’t buy them all up they’ll be 75% off next week 👹

Guys, all this talk about Butter Crak Eggs. I grabbed a handful while I was at CVS picking up a prescription. They were sold out of the trays, so I had to get the individually wrapped ones.

A friend of mine is making homemade Butter Krak eggs. The filling is <<<wait for it>>> Irish potatoes (minus cinnamon)! I need them all!

I loaded up on them today…acme has them 50% off. I was so bad, I ate one on the way to dinner. So worth it.
