My kids have been asking to go to NYC for a day trip and I just learned that Conrad Ricamora is currently starring in Little Shop of Horrors. I think now I really need to make this happen. He's been doing it for 2 years and I had no idea so I hope I can get tickets before he leaves, hopefully not any time soon.
that will be fun! We are planning to take my son to NYC in December with my BFF and her son. It will be their first times there and I think they will have such a great time.
Entirely too many things before 9am today. My mom texted me to let me know that she had a biopsy that confirmed breast cancer and she may not be able to go on our trip together in May due to surgery. Then followed that up with "BTW" my (estranged) father had a heart attack and has been in the hospital for three days and my sister has been handling all that, so I've been trying to get in touch with my sister to see how I can help her out. Then I had to be at my own mammogram follow-up by 8:15 where they let me know they need to continue monitoring something I've got going on in there. Got back to work (at home) to find that our whole system is down so scrambling to reschedule meetings and push deadlines. I need a nap.
We are going up for 2 nights with our DD (16) and DS (13). We are going to MoMA, Six, and the UN. That's our spring break trip - not terribly exciting but better than nothing!
I found out last night that my old boss and mentor from when I first started my career passed away this week. The really sad part is that his wife passed away earlier this month. He was such an awesome guy and loved his family. I hope they are dancing together again.

lavenderblue , I hope you have a wonderful trip! I did a day trip with my mom, a (now former) friend and her mom in 8th grade and it was ah-mazing.
How is it only Thursday? I thought it was Thursday yesterday so now I'm all out of sorts. I have to take half a day off tomorrow to do a 30 minute Zoom medical apt with my dad because the person is only licensed in his state. This was the best compromise for time off/getting him there. I want to use the time to catch up on other stuff, but things like picking up my glasses will be closed before I can get there. I actually have to call and find out when I can get my glasses because they're only open when I work, and I can't take any more time off right now. *Le Sigh*
Is the 90's a couple of strands of hair hanging down around your face while the rest of your hair is pulled (half or) all the way up making a come back? I've seen it a lot on the MTV Challenge with the youngsters basically hoping to become a SM model. I look good in the look, but the hairs drive me crazy, lol.
I am so annoyed with my brain/body. Today is my day off and I purposely cleared my calendar so I could have a nice, relaxing day - which included sleeping in. I did not set an alarm clock and of course I was wide awake before 7AM.
We sneaked in a college visit for DD earlier this week since it's spring break- she's only a HS freshman but has wanted to go to this school forever, and we wanted her to actually do the tour, hear from current students, etc. before she plans her entire HS career around getting in. Welp, joke's on us, she LOVED it, and is ready to go like right now. Part of me is glad she has this goal to motivate her through HS, but man, I don't want her pushing herself into the future faster than she needs to. We will probably let her apply for one of their pre-college summer classes when she's eligible next summer.
You'd think a short week would leave me somewhat ready for work today; I am not lol. That alarm was rough this morning, even knowing it's the only day I need to commute this week.

FI will get a little time off this weekend, so I'm meeting him. We'll go to Dauphin Island, AL and Mobile to meet some friends. We need to squeeze in getting his taxes done too.
As of this morning I've run 80 miles this month. I've only had one 80+ mile month before... ever. In May 2014, I ran 87.51 miles, my current high water mark.
If I do my long run on Sat AM as planned (11-12 miles), I'll go over 90 for March. I like to celebrate the little milestones.

I know I recently posted about my new obsession with joining my neighborhood buy nothing lol. And I mentioned that someone always seems to want everything so people mentioned maybe she’s selling the stuff.
Well I’ve noticed that she does seem legit. She does post stuff to give away and at first I thought she was just claiming baby stuff but she does not seem to discriminate!
Yesterday I posted 14 items- some baby stuff, some hair products, 2 kitchen things etc. Most people were like I want 1,3,7. But of course she said she wanted it all! I’m so curious about this haha. I hate mysteries that I’ll likely never know the answer for. Is she a hoarder? Is she selling the items? Does she have a side business? A fetish? So many questions!

I LOVE Buy Nothing. I am a huge giver (read: purger). There are a few people like that on mine -- "Interested in all!" even when the items are totally unrelated.
Once I was doing a huge purge of workwear, pretty nice brands, in a range of sizes that I've been over the last 10-15 years. Nobody could use it all, including me, who bought it all in the first place! Someone was "interested in all" as per usual, and another regular on the BN board messaged me and said don't give to her, she resells anything with an identifiable brand. IDK how she knows for sure, but it fits. "interested in all" lady does occasionally post gives, but my suspicion is that they're things that didn't sell.
I usually try to pick people who give back to the community themselves, but if she's the only one interested, hey, if she's willing to put the work into selling (I am not), then go for it.

Nice work!
Today is NYC Marathon lottery drawing day. I'm obsessively refreshing my credit card statement. I have low hopes, as the odds aren't great but this is like my 8th try. If I don't get in, I'll be signing up for MCM tomorrow, Susie!
Kids have a half day and are off tomorrow, and I somehow forgot that I am off tomorrow too (yay!).
I NEED to get my seeds started this weekend. This is the latest I have ever started by a month and I am freaking out but apparently not enough to actually do it.

wanderingback there are people like that on my local page too. They'll just take anything! Last summer I bought a pack of fun glasses for 4 of us to wear to Elton John. He was performing the following night as well, so the next day I posted them there in case someone else could use them for the concert. I told the first responder she could have them even though she's one of those "take anything" people. Then other people commented they were going to the concert and would love them, so she told me to give them to someone who could actually use them for the concert. I remember thinking WTF did she want them for?? Does she run one of those photo booths with all the fun props? LOL.
I post stuff there all the time but can count on one hand the number of times I've picked up something from someone else. It has to be a really specific thing that I happen to need at that moment!

I bought a new (to me) car last night, my first in 10 years! I went from a base model 2015 Mitsubushi Outlander with 150k miles on it that was a hand-me-down from my ex-FIL to a 2022 VW Taos with only 16k miles. It's SO NICE and I think I got a pretty great deal on it. I do hate the car buying process though, it always stresses me out for some reason.

Honestly I’ll be ok either way. The MCM course is much much flatter lol.
glw, that is a LOT for this morning! I hope yours turns out ok and that your mom's prognosis is for easy treatment.
I have had the worst time coming back to real life and getting back to work after my trip last week. I am doing a little soul searching lately about whether I really want to stay in this job because it seems like I never seem to be able to motivate myself lately, and maybe that's an indication it's no longer a good fit for me. Sucks because I love the organization, though. My supervisor is also leaving in a couple of weeks and I love her, so there are some unpleasant transitions coming up with that too. Mostly it's just that everything I have to do lately is either frustrating or tedious, and I'm over it.
I remembered this morning that my drivers license got stolen when I was in Rome, so I guess I need to also figure out how to get a new one. It was stolen 4 years ago too and I don't remember it being complicated to replace, but I think I need to go into the DMV or whatever they call it here to do it in person, which is lame.
Lol I didn't realize that there were "take anything" people on every Buy Nothing group! They are so entertaining to me because I imagine them using the random assortment of things they claim (even though I assume they are actually reselling). Like what are you doing with a 3 ft tall Moana balloon, shower curtain rings, a coffee machine carafe, a partially used lotion, and an old whiteboard? 😂
When giving, I do try to prioritize people who indicate that they will actually use the items themselves, but if no one else wants it, I'm fine giving to the take anything people.
DD1 has tomorrow off as the start of spring break. Just found out this morning that daycare is ALSO closed tomorrow in addition to next week. Also found out this morning that DDs school is closed on eclipse Monday (why did it take this long?!? cc Susie).
Oh and we had planned to at least go to my ILs for Saturday - Wednesday but MIL canceled last night because she's sick. This is WAY too long to be off with all of these needy kids, we're going to lose it.
We went to NYC last week for spring break with the three kids and had a great time! I got the City Pass and we went to the Empire State Building, 9/11 Museum, Natural History Museum, did a boat cruise to see the Statue of Liberty and bridges and a pedicab tour in Central Park. I wish we could have seen a show but it wasn't in the budget Rode the subway a lot, had pizza, bagels and cookies from Milk Bar almost everyday and some other good food too! We stayed at the Aloft in Chelsea and liked the location.

Godspeed!
That's ridiculous that they took another week after the other area schools, to announce. What a pain.
