I felt it in NEPA. My cat took off running and I was thinking no way she just made the house shake like that. Didn’t think anything of it until my sister texted asking if I felt it.
I'm in Boston suburbs. I didn't notice it at all, but everyone else in my town said they felt it. I think maybe I'm just so used to old house noises and rumbling that it didn't enter my consciousness.
I am in MD like others, but I felt nothing. Some of my friends said they felt it. I prob was in the shower or drying my hair, but I still didn't feel a thing. Now, that one back in 2011, shook my whole house for a good 2 minutes.
I felt it in Maryland, but I thought it was just my butt spasming from sitting too still.
😂😂 the way I'm cackling rn at the thought of someone sitting in a 5.0 earthquake and thinking, "eh, just normal butt stuff"
I lived in LA for a while, there is such variability in what people feel depending on whether you're still, moving, how things hit your building. This was like five seconds of my chair moving slightly. My cat was laying on the bed in the same room and didn't even lift his head, and my husband was walking around downstairs and felt nothing

Between the FART squad this week and your post, ML has really tapped into my juvenile humor this week. Small joys!
One of my favorite bakeries in NYC posted a croissant on the floor with the caption, "We will rebuild 🥲"

South of Boston and I felt nothing and the dog slept thru it...lol. I remember feeling the last one we had in Mass. I think it was an earthquake in NH.
I thought it was a low flying Army cargo plane that we get sometimes. Im near base in Nj. All my windows were rattling, walls starting shaking and there was a rumbling sound.
Totally weird
My friend is near JBDM and that's what they thought. I'm further south and I felt it pretty good. The last one we had I was 9 months pregnant, I was much more mobile for this one and I knew to stand in a doorway.

Ok douche, go ahead and call it mud. My husband DID have halitosis. We addressed it after I talked to you girls on here and guess what? Years later, no problem. Mofongo, you're a cunt. Eat shit. ~anonnamus

My mom called (they are in CT), she was super excited because they really felt it. I felt absolutely nothing in MA but people on my local FB were freaking out...I thought they ware all full of it until H told me he felt it just 1 room over....I guess because he was sitting near the foundation and I was in the middle of the house?
Oh well, now I am waiting for the "I survived" pictures on FB showing a lawn chair knocked over.
I’m in Center City Philly but work in a low-rise, excellently built strong box of a building. None of us felt a thing and were surprised by texts coming in by friends/family. “Earthquake? What?”
My husband felt it on the 34th floor of his high rise office building!
I also think it's funny how different people perceived the length of it.
I would guess around 30 seconds. People on my neighborhood fb page are estimating anywhere from 10 seconds to 2 minutes.
This was my first earthquake. I feel like I should get a T-shirt or something.
There are so many variables that affect what you feel. Construction is a big one. Ground composition is another. Just a few blocks away can feel different, and it might be stronger for some farther away than closer to the epicenter.
Living in Japan I experienced a whole lot, most minor. I'd have to go to usgs to figure out if it were a heavy truck or a small earthquake sometimes. Occasionally my screen would just feel a bit blurry for a bit, like I wasn't focusing correctly. 4.7 was definitely enough to feel pretty definitely in my house. 7.0 was wild!
I was very busy this morning in my quiet house. I was sleeping in, on my recliner, without distractions. Very important.
This woke me up. First, I thought the second floor of my house was crashing down. I hoped that the crash wasn’t about to be the part that was right on top of me but the sound felt far away so I figured it was a different part of the house.
When I didn’t hear a definitive crash after a few seconds, my next thought was “GHOST.”
I finally realized that this must be what an earthquake is. I didn’t feel any thing, but I could hear things in my house shaking. It also did continue to feel paranormal the entire time until I confirmed, on FB of course, that it was indeed an earthquake. I live about 30 miles from the epicenter.

I feel ripped off as I only saw it on FB, can't say I felt anything. Thinking about it now maybe there was a quick boom, but I think I thought it was DH doing something.
I felt it in central CT! I initially assumed it was construction related (they have been doing roadwork near us for awhile), though it did seem like a pretty big vibration for that. Earthquake actually did cross my mind, but I thought it was just because of the earthquake in Taiwan recently, and that it was ridiculous to think it was an earthquake here haha
I’m right outside Boston but felt nothing. It was during the end of barre class when we were lying down and doing breath work, so definitely not that noticeable lol
I grew up in CA so experienced a few significant earthquakes and a bunch of minor ones. It’s always a crazy feeling
