My Peloton Tread+ is getting delivered today…rescheduled from last week when they told me at the last minute they had a shortage in the warehouse and had nothing to deliver. Well, they ever so graciously gave me a delivery window today of 8-5 (THANKS. HELPFUL.) I just got a call that they should be here in 40 min. FI and I are supposed to meet people for HH at 5:30, so of course my delivery isn’t until the very end of the day. This thing better not take long to set up!
Other than the irritation at likely being the last delivery of the day, I CANNOT WAIT to use the Tread+ for my workout tomorrow! I’ve had the regular tread for a couple years now, and it’s been worth every penny. I’m hopeful I’ll feel the same about this new one. Ahhhhh, I’m so excited!!

emilyinchile , congrats! I hope you have a fantastic day tomorrow!
I struggle when I get my eyes dilated. Last year I couldn't see for 5 hours, had to get someone to drive me, and had to unexpectedly take the day off. My previous eye dr says it's because I have light eyes, and allowed me to do it every other year, reducing the amount of dilation they use. I went to the eye dr today and told him he either needed to use very little, or not dilate my eyes at all because of last year's issue at his office, which I did call them about at the time. The dr refused to see me if I wouldn't get my eyes dilated, saying he couldn't code for the higher visit charge. I asked about reducing the amount of drops they use, and he refused that as well. Do I suck it up and get my eyes dilated and not be able to see and require a driver? Do I call around to other offices and see if any will work with me?
My eye doc will take some sort of picture/scan instead of dilation. I think I paid like $25 for it. Worth it because I too hate dilation.
Mine has this, too. I've seen him for a decade+, so this isn't new technology. I think it's been an extra $30 the entire time, but it is WELL worth not having my eyes dilated and the inconvenience that comes with that.

Big ditto. Freaking Lenscrafters' optometrists have it, and my eye exams there are only $100 whether I get the dilation using the machine or not. followyourarrow I would switch eye doctors in a heartbeat over this and make sure the office manager knows this is why you're leaving the practice.
I was invited to speak to our local League of Women Voters about how they can help fight book bans in our state, and I'm feeling kind of overwhelmed by it. My director is the one who connected me with the group, so it's employer-sanctioned, but also a huge topic to cover and I have a lot of very strong opinions (that my director is fully aware of) I'm somewhat hesitant to share with a bunch of people I don't know when I'm acting in a semi-official capacity. Things are also about to get nasty between the state library association and the school districts over some new reporting requirements, and the part of me that doesn't want to fight everyone 24/7 is screaming to find a rock to hide under until the drama blows over.
On the other hand I got myself into the local paper twice already this month--once for an op-ed about book bans, and once because Kid 1's school is engaging in financial fuckery and I got so tired of them doing one thing and saying the opposite to parents who weren't in the know that I blew the whistle. As Kid 1 reminded me, I know what I'm doing, and I have no regrets.

It might depend if you are seeing an optometrist or ophthalmologist. My optometrist has the retinal pic machine (and has for decades) but I see an ophthalmologist now for dry eye and they require dilation. They said the scan machine isn’t enough for what they do. 🤷🏽♀️ the doctor should still try to work with OP due to her specific issues, but it might not be as simple as asking for the scan instead depending what’s she’s going to the eye dr for.
That Dr was still an ass, don’t get me wrong. I’d still change Drs just because he sounds like an unempathetic jerk.

Ahhhh, yeah my guy is just an optometrist. I just get a regular check up each year, so the retina scan is I guess good enough for my eyes. (hopefully? )
10 days ago, a friend texted if I was looking for a project, he wanted a certain cosplay hood in black. After my last sewing fail, I actually was looking for an easy project as skills practice.
This morning, I texted two black/dark gray fabrics, and a screen shot of the pattern. He said cotton, and we had a discussion of black cotton not being in my stash, and I got “why does it have to be black?” I pointed out black was the request. And heard nothing. So I started working with a dark gray.
7pm, I finished it and texted a picture and “your hood is done.” He said “what are you talking about?”
Fucker! Scroll back 10 days in the thread and find the request, and he as all “oh… I was joking.”
Ummm, didn’t we have a recent discussion about how I take everything very literally? Also, I really was looking for a project. And I love sewing cosplay, which my H does not appreciate sufficiently..
So, I guess I have myself a dark gray assassin’s creed hood for my cosplay closet. 🤣

Also depending on medical history they may need to dislate. My eye doc has the retina scan stuff but I’m diabetic and they still dislate my eyes to get a better look.
My apple watch got stuck on an update and killed the battery. So today I learned how to delete an update file.
Apparently this happened to another friend's watch the other day, so FYI.
Not stuck, but my battery has been dying more rapidly. Like the past 2 days, it hasn’t lasted a full day. I wonder if it’s related. Ugh.
This rollout of the new update really sucks. My watch stopped receiving anything that wasn't an iMessage, including calls, at some point this week and I missed several important texts and calls before I figured out that there was a pending update. Fucking Apple.
Taking a neurodivergent kid to the orthodontist sucks.
I truly dread this. My autistic DS will be 8 in a few weeks and we still can't get x-rays taken. The hygienist can barely clean his teeth and she is amazing with him. I think he's going to need anesthesia for all dental work eventually.
