My poor dog. She woke me up this morning with belly issues. No puke (yet), but just miserable and wanting to channel her inner cow this morning. We don’t have a fence, so this means I have to sit outside with her on the long lead. Really doesn’t work well for, you know, doing my job. We have been out 4 times in an hour. And she is dog aggressive and our neighbor has a community walking trail. So even if I wanted to just tie her out, it’s not an option. I did it exactly once, two years ago when she wanted to graze and I was having my own emergency. Thought it would be ok, but she broke the lead and went after a German shepherd. Bless the couples heart, when I come running out with my belt undone, probably pants still unzipped, and she is in the middle of my yard with my dog while he had the GSD on the sidewalk. I’m glad they split up like that.
Yesterday I finally set some boundaries with my dad and told him I’m done listening to all the hateful shit he says. I’ve long been afraid to do so because he has a mental illness and I’m his only support person. The words came out of my mouth before I knew what was happening, but damn it felt good.
vicky I’m not around here much anymore, but it’s good to see you back!
Oh and somehow my straigtener's knob got knocked off and I think I put it on backwards? So for low heat, it looks like high heat on the dial. So I guess I need to figure out if I can pop it off again and fix when I get home.

Our flight to the west coast went pretty well! Since the hospital where I’m giving the talk is paying for the trip they booked a regular room and not a suite like we’ve been doing with our daughter so I borrowed my friends slumber pod which is essentially a black out tent that goes over a pack n play. Well she slept for 14 hours yesterday and we had to wake her up at 8am cause we were ready to go to breakfast! Thank goodness.
We had a lovely day and went to a really fun playground and also SFMOMA.
I think I’m going to go the the gym now while our daughter is still sleeping and then tbd on plans for the day, but glad it looks like decent weather!
Our cat is old and decided she hates her food, of course we just bought a 24 lb bag from BJ's.
She also has a new habit of climbing up my left leg when I am sitting at my desk. She could easily just jump up but she prefers to climb me like a tree and now all my leggings have holes on the left thigh.
She is 16 and perfectly healthy, she is just a jerk.
I am in the process of renewing my sons uk passprot and it is the most ridiculous thing ever. I sent them my husband's death cert to prove i am the sole parent and now they are questioning whether I have legal responsibility for my son! I am so confused as to why they are questioning it - his passport was renewed after my husband died so its not the firs time I am doing it as a single parent. I have no idea how to solve this problem, and we are due to travel in a couple of months
My H and I are both in the office today, and our dog was SO SAD this morning. He knew we were both getting ready to leave and he put himself back in his kennel twice. We actually don't kennel him when we leave - we just shut him in a bedroom so he has more space - but he seemed to just want to sulk. Little tiny tail wags and a sad face. Way to lay on the guilt, doggie! He was totally fine once I offered him a walk, of course.
Idk what happened to my time yesterday but I did not get my grading done that I needed to. I did several house related chores but I need like a week off to take care of stuff I think. Unfortunately that will literally never happen.
Had a pretty busy weekend but because the weather was so nice it didn't seem too bad. Somehow sunshine eases the woes of driving all over the place LOL
We've talked off and on about replacing the carpeting in a couple of rooms with "wood" flooring. H helped my stepson put down some flooring this weekend and saw how easy it was so now it's back on the table. I'm torn because the one of the rooms we're talking about is pretty chilly and I'm concerned it will be too cold without carpeting. But I'll let him price it all out before I decide for sure.
We've started doing a "family meeting" over dinner on Sunday nights to chat about what the upcoming week looks like for everyone and it's really been quite helpful. Let's us all get on the same page and everyone knows what to expect.
DD3 has a stomach bug or something. I was up with her most of the night and now I'm WFH with her here. Having only 1 kid vs 3 is so much easier and more chill! She's clearly feeling better today but her stomach is still off. I put her down for an early nap and am hoping to get 2 naps out of her instead of her normal 1 so she can heal faster (and we can get more actual work done). I'm debating going into the office this afternoon for a meeting vs doing it remote. I really wanted to be in person for this meeting, but also not sure it's worth the 45-60min travel time for just a 2 hour meeting. And I don't want to put real clothes on...

We saw Come From Away last night. It was so moving. I knew a little bit about it, but wow, what a special show. I wish more shows would eschew intermission and just keep driving.
My mom’s husband bought the tickets for my birthday because I mentioned I wanted to see it and he has a donation membership with the theater it was playing at. They were second row, right in the middle. It was incredible. How you gonna keep ‘em down on the farm after they’ve seen Paris?
So we talked to one of our neighbors last night and as we sort of pieced together, the "kid" (in his late 20's) next door is dealing drugs out of his mom's house. They get door dash A LOT and I assumed it was that, but uhhh yeah this makes more sense. I did see the kids BMW get repo'd last week, and the rumor is he is moving to California soon. God willing.
I had a dream that a SWAT team broke though our bedroom window looking for him.

This has been a BUSY day so far. Well before Easter, I volunteered to do a presentation on helping students with panic attacks. Well, we finally got info about when it was needed early last week - yup, needed before the end of THIS week. So, met with my boss and another person who volunteered on Friday, and I put together the invite to send out that afternoon. I began to work on the presentation yesterday (just briefly) as well as arriving early to work this morning. I normally take an hour for lunch (encouraged) but I did a working lunch and had an appointment cancelled just a bit ago, so I've finished both my written presentation and a power point. I just need to make a handout that I can 'give' to the online participants as well as those who look at the recording and then I'm done. It's a 25-30 min presentation with 15 min for questions, so not a big deal, but I would have liked more time to put it together (especially as the head of our service will probably watch it).

We actually had the same scenario at a house down the street about a year ago!! It wasn't SWAT that raided but the Drug Force and apparently it was pretty action packed. But not so action packed that anyone broke through windows LOL
I couldn't sleep last night because I kept thinking about some issues with my daughter's school. I'm exhausted today and getting a very very slow start to the day. I have an evening work meeting tonight so I was not in a rush to start early. But any time I allow myself to break from routine I regret it later.

Maybe he likes being in the kennel when you leave? Our youngest dog sometimes will go in the crate and if I leave even if my husband is working upstairs. I just go with it; if she hops in the crate, I’ll lock her in and she just settles in.
I’ve left our oldest dog loose because she has never bothered anything and I realized she hates it. I came home a couple times and she met me at the door then walked me to her crate like “you left this unlocked!!” I think they feel more secure in the crate than loose. Maybe because that was the routine when they were first with us? I would have thought they’d like more space (we do have some rooms blocked off) but apparently not.

OMG! I'll keep you guys informed if any raids happen. Apparently he's been arrested 3 times so I imagine he's on their 'radar' The mom is nice enough and she has a HS aged daughter, she just let the son move back in around 5 months ago and there is a ton of activity since he arrived. I can't believe she's just letting this go on. I mean, I can, and she is... but yeah. Best case scenario for us is that he moves out of state. Like yesterday.

Something similar happened to my friend! Her neighbor was manufacturing pills and she had no idea until she saw the DEA agents in the bushes, about to raid the guy.

I finally feel like I am just about back to normal after my bout with strep. I walked the dog this morning with DD1 as usual, then after I got the kids to school I did a mile of walk/run intervals. The weather is SO nice, that helped as well.
I really want to get back into my regular exercise routine, I have slacked the eight weeks or so because of musical season and then being sick, and I can tell I've lost some of my muscle tone and strength. Siiiigh, gotta get back to it!
