I'm trying to find an inexpensive way to make sparkling water. I don't even want the flavors. Just plain sparkling water made with spring water. (I add fresh lemon and lime)
The deposits on cans/bottles is now .10 plus its taxed and I hate paying so much. Anyone know of any inexpensive units?
We got our SodaStream on fb marketplace brand new. The person waited too long and couldn’t return. We did clean it really well just in case but it was brand new for $20. I would try looking there.

We got the cheapest soda stream, and it’s a beast. If you do end up buying new, just get the low tier one. There’s not much that goes into cramming gas bubbles into water by force.
I'd actually try your local BNG group before Marketplace. People buy them with the best of intentions, use them like crazy, and then they sit and gather dust. If you post an ISO, there's a good chance you can get one free, which is even better than cheap.
I've had my Drinkmate for 2.5 years now. I send in 2 empty bottles to get a $22 discount code for my next two bottles (though it took 2 months this last time before I got the email with the discount code). I track how many fills I get from a bottle and got ripped off by one from walmart. Obtaining the CO2 takes money and planning. There are more hacks available depending on if you are comfortable working with CO2 tanks. Good luck!

I have a drink mate too, and am really happy. It also fizzes juice and alcohol, which most others cannot.
