I'm traveling for work. Due to various meetings with people in different time zones plus having to block off times during the day for the in person stuff that necessitated the trip, I've spent a LOT of time in the room awake at odd times.
Which, fine. BUT. Literally every time I turn on the TV, every other ad is one for the shingles vaccine. It's taunting me. I'm too young to get the vaccine, about to spend bazillions of dollars for laser treatment for my goddamned FACE SHINGLES scar, and salty about both of those facts.
Just let me have HGTV on in the background for company in peace, goddammit.

One of DH's cousins is getting married in September. I am thrilled that he is not pushing me to go, and I get to stay home with our kids. There is not a chance I want to spend $1500 for all 4 of us to fly there to go to a wedding for someone I have only met a few times in my life (and our kids maybe met this cousin once?). DH is going to go with other family members, so it's not like he will be going by himself.
I just saw a notice today on my office's intranet site that said that Wednesdays are for wearing athleisure. (I think another way to try to get employees to be somewhat positive about RTO.) I probably won't be an early adopter, but I'm curious as to how long it will take for this to become a "norm."
I would like to sleep through the night. Every night between 9 and 10 I am just bone tired. I go to bed with no issues. And then I wake up at 3 or 4 and can’t fall back asleep. Which is why I’m exhausted. It ruins my whole day and I’m lethargic and low energy.
I don't know how old you are, but this was a big peri-menopause symptom for me. I started taking CBD capsules.
I am the same mcppalmbeach. Happens most nights, except after 4-5 nights of that I usually sleep through the night out of sheer exhaustion.
ssmjlm, that is good to know. I am 41, so for could be peri-menopause for me. I will check into CBD.
DH had his first colonoscopy yesterday and boy the anesthesia did a number on him. He says he remembers being wheeled to the exam room and then nothing until he awoke from a 3 hour nap at home. He was loopy when he first came to in recovery, but then started making more sense and then we had a conversation where he seemed himself and was making logical statements and nope, doesn't remember it at all.
I also took DS1 to get his learner's permit after track last night. I let him drive part of the way home and holy heck on the hard stops and tight turns kid!
Errands this AM and then working out.
Are you sure he was just napping for 3 hours or was he secretly shopping on his phone?
Maybe next week will be fun with random packages showing up.
I'd completely forgotten that my parents bought H and the kids tickets to an event tonight (Christmas present), and I have the evening totally free and solo now! I'm looking at Grubhub and feeling overwhelmed with the choices since I don't have to account for anyone else's opinions. Thanks, mom and dad!

44 so I’ve assumed it to be that for sure! I’ll have to look at cbd supplements. Anything you recommend?
Damn, getting old sucks. Apparently I ‘walked wrong’ on my way out of work today and somehow tweaked my foot. So I now have one foot which I broke several years ago that aches on cold, wet days like today, and a newly tweaked one that hurts like a mofo.
I fell into bed at 9:15 (after a snack of ketchup chips, some Lindt chocolates and half a bag of Skittles because, shh, my stomach doesn’t know yet that the rest of me is 48 years old), and oh man, did it ever feel good.
OMG! I’m ready to run away!! 😩 If you missed my post on Monday, short story is that my dad had heart surgery 8wks ago, was doing great, got an infection, and has been in the ICU for 6wks now.
So…I’m currently sitting in the ER with my mom. She had a syncopal episode this morning. Took her to her PCP and there was a change from her 2018 EKG so she recommended the ER. They are going to admit her overnight for monitoring. They think there was probably a past event that is the cause of the EKG change, however, they'd like to monitor overnight to be sure.
I know my stress level is just high and will be for awhile, but if anyone has any recs for dealing with stress and high cortisol levels with high on-going stress situations I’m all ears. I’ve been try to sneak away to yoga a couple times a week, but there are only so many hours and while I’m kind of sleeping I’m not sure it’s fully restorative.

I used to use Equilibria, but had some not great CS experience with them, so I haven't found a replacement. My ablation has kept most of the symptoms away, so I haven't looked too hard recently.
I heard back from the allergist and they said as long as she’s not actively sick we can probably go ahead! But they’ll make a decision the day of. So fingers crossed she’s all better in 5 days.
Ugh this is such an emotional rollercoaster I just want to get it over with.
Good luck! We have friends who did OIT with their young child. They said the whole OIT experience was one of the most stressful times as a food allergy parent, but now that they're done, it's a huge relief to have the protection. Last I talked to them about it, they were optimistic that the process had been curative for him, and that he would be able to freely eat peanuts. I hope it goes smoothly for you!
I decided to stop counting the days of my PICC line and just start focusing on the end date! The Monday after next cannot come soon enough! I keep it covered but am also rocking short sleeves because it’s hot here and am feeling way more self conscious then I should.
Happy birthday (and almost birthday) to everyone!
I didn't realize you had a PICC line. I had one for about 3 months two years ago. I was surprisingly sad when they took it out. It felt very anticlimactic. Plus then I had to feed myself enough calories and I couldn't rely on my TPN. My home nurse told me that I would have a small dot of a scar there and I thought, well at least I can look at that and remember how I made it through this time in my life. But it healed up and there is no mark! Good I guess?
Glad you have a removal date to look forward to! I loved being able to take showers without worrying about covering it.

Thanks! I'm trying not to get my hopes up or get overly optimistic, but I'm hoping we have the same experience. Her Ige numbers are actually pretty low (although they've fluctuated over the last 2 years) so fingers crossed!!!! Our dr says the younger you do it, the better the outcome so the delays have been pretty anxiety producing. There are people in the OIT Facebook group that are doing it with 18 month olds, which sounds really stressful! I'm glad DD2 is old enough to communicate and have some idea of what we are doing. And yet I've still agonized over the decision due to the risks and basically committing her to eating cashews every day forever. Hopefully she agrees with my choice when she's older.

mpc The funny thing is that I have scissors tattooed right by my inner elbow (they start at brachioplasty scars I have that resemble Cut-Along-The-Dotted-Line and the PICC placement matches up perfectly. So many nurses find it hilarious as hell, as do I!

I hope all goes well! If you’re comfortable updating afterward, I’d be interested. My youngest has peanut and tree nut allergies and we have similar goals of doing OIT when she’s 4. We’ll have to change allergists in the next year since our current office doesn’t offer it. We belong to a local food allergy group and 90% of the feedback on OIT has been positive.

Thank you! Absolutely, I’ll be happy to share our experience. I also joined an OIt group on FB that has been very helpful (OIT Food Allergy Oral Immunotherapy Treatment Support Group).
Is it a heat pump? Ours is a heat pump and I will say I don’t fully understand it all but electric heat only kicks in when we turn it on for the first time in the season or if it is below freezing for days on end.
Yes a heat pump, that’s it.
I’m late here, but I work in the industry. Electric heat is currently more expensive than gas but that is expected to flip flop within the next few years. I saw you got the townhouse - congrats!!

cville you could be eligible for the shingles vaccine now. I was able to get it after having shingles. My PCP wrote a letter to my insurance and got it approved. It could be worth asking.
