Sooo for various reasons, DH and I had not had sex since getting the dog. We did last night.
What do you do with your dog when you’re having sex if they’re used to be around you all the time??
It’s been so long since we had a dog. Ours sleeps on our bed and was whining when we locked her out of the room. But having her in the room was making both of us laugh. lol We finally got her to stay in a corner of the bed. I was joking that we need to train her that naked people means she has to stay on the floor.

😬 I’m not an animal person. Just info about me before the rest of my post so you can ignore if that’s not your life.
We have a cat who we just shut the door on. She is the perfect cat who does not like to sleep with us anyway. She has a perch in our room, but isn’t loud about it when she can’t get to it and wants to.
When we dog sit, the dog goes in the kennel, but he also does not sleep in our bed.
Our dogs are not fans of us having sex, which mostly seems to be about the fact that they are not involved and also it's not hot to have a dog licking your foot in the middle of it. They have to be out in the hall, with the door closed (which we do anyway b/c child.) ETA: They are otherwise always with us. They are the definition of velcro dog. They live.
If it’s in the morning, H lets them out and feeds them and comes back to the bedroom before they can follow him and shuts them out of the bedroom (and they lay in the hall like creepers) orrrrrr if it’s when we’re going to bed, Donny just stays on the corner of the bed and ignores us lol
I don’t recall this being a problem when I had a dog. We’d either put him outside or he’d be in the living room and we would close the door. He would know if it was about to happen bc if he was in the room, he’d leave.

Our 1.5yo pup sleeps with us every night but has now learned that naked people = stay off the bed. We'd give her a frozen raw beef bone to keep her occupied when we first got her, but now we just do our thing.
She has a crate in our room. She is a HARD cuddler, like her whole body weight on us so we don't sleep well with her in the bed, so she goes to her crate a little earlier than normal when we need her to 😂
Our dog never comes into or room for some reason, it's weird. Same with David's room or the bathrooms, she's almost afraid to go anywhere but the living room, gym or laundry room. She's always been a nervous dog, though.
Either way, we'd do it anyway. Maybe I'm psycho but it wouldn't bother me at all. lol
We did have a dog years ago that anytime we started he would drag his bed out of the room and into the hallway. It used to crack me up.
Every dog I've had has been like this. Not to this extreme, but they've made a big show of leaving the room - usually with a huff or sigh to inform us they are not impressed with this behavior.

We've taught Cooper to not jump on the bed unless invited, so he sleeps on the floor anyway. He is a bit nervous when we're having sex but he has stayed on the ground all but once (and he learned after that one time). It was weird at first having a dog staring at us but now it's just normal. With our last dog, he got used to being kicked out of the bedroom and then being let back in. Cooper would not tolerate it as much though once in a while he'd be fine.
So my update is that we gave her a bone last night and shut her out of the bedroom. She was content with that for a good long while, but did eventually start whining a lot until we were done and let her in. The problem with that is we can’t do that when the boys are home. So I guess we’ll work on keeping her on the floor in our room. Hopefully with a long-lasting treat that will be a workable solution until we all get used to it.
My dogs sleep crated every night, but my boyfriend’s dog sleeps with us. He knows when things are about to go down and jumps off the bed right away. He’s just a good listener, so at first J would tell him to get down and now he just instinctively knows - when the bed starts rockin’ it’s time to hit the floor. 😆

As someone who fosters regularly, this is a constant issue with new dogs. With the dogs we had the longest, one would usually leave the room and the other would go under the bed. We had her for 11 years, and she knew when we were finished and would come out and whine at us, lol.
For our fosters, some needed to be crated and some will just stay in another room.

After an incident where FI got booped with a cold wet nose in an unfortunate location, they now get locked out of the room. They all lay in the hallway and just wait.
