DS2 and I flew back from our Florida trip yesterday - flight options from Orlando were a bitch and we had a super early flight with our driver picking us up at 4:30 AM to go to the airport (yawn). I figured the benefit to such an early flight was we would most likely be on time. Things were perfect, we were taxiing out for an on time departure….and then an attendant realized the woman sitting in front of me had brought a dog on the plane in a REGULAR ZIPPED UP DUFFEL BAG. Like… not a pet carrier. As in, no mesh for the dog to, you know, BREATHE. OMG. So they turned our plane around and went to another gate so they could get an airline approved pet bag for this lady to purchase. Turned into an hour and a half delay. This woman seemed very unconcerned that she put the entire plane, and her dog!, through that.
Oh I would be RAGING! Did anyone cuss her out?
shockingly no. The flight attendants totally lectured her and obviously thought she was terrible, but no passengers said anything. We were at the very front so I’m guessing most of the plane didn’t even know why we went back. The pilot just said “we have to take care of something non mechanical” in his announcement. I only got the full scoop because I was directly behind her
We LOVE Bluey. It’s the only kids show besides Phineas and Ferb that I get excited about.
My favorite episode is Sleepytime. I cry. Every. Time.
I love Bluey!!! I get as excited about new episodes as my kids do. It is so sweet and really captures parenting from an adults perspective too. So many episodes have made me cry.
Speaking of sleepy time, when DD1 watched it for the first time she was full out sobbing at the end. She has a favorite lovey and couldn’t take that Bingo’s left. We couldn’t ever watch it again. To this day, if I mention it, she starts crying. It’s amazing how emotional Bluey episodes can be.
The people who are obsessing over figuring out who Bluey’s partner is are a bit much tho!

I mentioned it but following up, our trip to the west coast went well. Our daughter did well!
I’m finally cutting back on pumping and will stop soon and then just directly breastfeed.
But my real excitement is that even if she is still breastfeeding in June I am going to my work conference ALONE! Wahoo! I’ve talked to several people who have breastfed for 18+ months and they reassured me that even being away for a few days my breasts won’t get engorged and I can just pump a few times if needed but might not even have to pump at all. Thank goodness.
So I’m already fantasizing about the trip. Getting to the airport early to go to the lounge, having a drink, enjoying tv on the plane and then sleeping in a hotel bed all alone. It’s going to be a fabulous 3.5 days!!
Amazing! Enjoy!! If it helps to have another anecdote - I traveled for 4 days when my son was 21 months. I did pump morning and night to preserve supply (I was newly pregnant with #2 and having feelings about weaning potentially being led by me/my choices vs. by him), and because I am prone to clogged ducts, but honestly I probably did not need to. I was not engorged at all and pumped very little in terms of volume ... I was getting maybe an oz per session. I hadn't pumped at all for about 8 months prior to the trip, I had just been nursing directly. I donated the pumped milk instead of trying to bring it back with me. Even with the pumping, it was so nice to only have to worry about myself for a few days! I went on another work trip a few weeks ago without pumping and it was SO NICE!
My son was happy to nurse when I got back until he weaned himself at 24 months.
Thank you, this is so helpful! Thank you for sharing. I traveled to a conference last year when she was 6 months old and a month after I went back from maternity leave. It was torture so I think I’m traumatized from that haha. I was looking forward to that conference having some me time but I literally pumped every 3 hours even in middle of the night and my boobs hurt the whole time! But I’m realizing that this is entirely different and these anecdotes really help. I thought I was either going to have to wean completely or bring her with me. And good to know you pumped only 1 oz per session and all was fine. Thanks again!

My 6 yo is hyper focused on Bandit pulling the sign out. It’s super significant for her somehow …? I like how they chose to prioritize, but they also left their values up to the whim of a couple who preferred a pool!
I also felt the Bluey episode of them not moving was unrealistic. It was too much of a "happy ending." Maybe Australia has a better social safety net that would allow both Bandit and Rad to change employment plans at a whim like that. It definitely felt like a very un-American decision.
DS watched that episode so many times, I had the music from it stuck in my head all weekend.
I only watched "The Surprise" once and I've been off social media all day so I haven't seen all the theories from the random Bluey fandom page that show up uninvited in my feed.

When you get traumatized, they will not be traumatized, because the simple fact that you were so concerned means you are doing awesome and she will just keep on keeping on as her happy little self. It sucks to care, but the fact that you do means you’re both doing great. Good job!!!

If you can’t suspend reality in a cartoon about talking dogs, where can you? I don’t need to think about the reality of changing job/unpacking/the other house.
The episode was great because it shows parents are just trying to do their best/make the best decisions. But no one tells us how to do that and sometimes we change our minds or have to pivot.
Somehow I activated the new Meta AI system while searching Facebook for a group today, and if anything is going to get me to quit that hellsite it's going to be it assuming I want interference from an AI chatbot I didn't ask for.
And for good measure, the AI was completely wrong in its assumption about what I was looking for.

If there was ever a case for opening the door and throwing someone out of the plane, this is it.
I 100% would have had some sort of security there for her to be escorted off and left her.
Also, where was TSA in all this? She had to go through security.
cville you know I love you, but I can't agree with no shoes off at all on the plane. I'm not flying to a whole other continent with my shoes on for 14 hours! But obviously Team wanderingback that you don't leave your seat without shoes on, and socks must remain on at all times.
...but they also left their values up to the whim of a couple who preferred a pool!
When you put it this way, the whole thing is absurd hilarious! The couple being all "oh, we'll just casually take the financial hit on pulling out on the contract for house #1 because house #2 has a a pool IN THE FRONT YARD. YES, MUST HAVE."

TSA doesn’t care about what the airlines care about.

Also I’m over Taylor Swift.
Deep thoughts for a Monday!
This! Inspired by this thread, I watched it again today (while the kids were at swim LOL, I had 30 mins to kill and it’s been a rough day so I needed something sweet). I love it so much. So sweet and reality be damned, I love the ending.
I am also sick of Taylor Swift. I’ve reached saturation.
ETA: I have 2 girls who are basically the same age at Bluey and Bingo so this show will always have a special place in my heart.
We used to watch a lot of Scooby Doo when the kids were little. Now they are 16 and 12 and my H will still shame them into watching Scooby with him because he unironically just likes Scooby Doo. I think it gives him warm nostalgic feelings. He can't quite bring himself to start watching it without a kid in the room but will happily continue watching alone when they get bored after 15 minutes and wander off.
My non-Bluey random is that my phone wasn't fitting into it's case properly. Upon inspection, it had developed a swollen battery. So now I'm phoneless and adrift until it's fixed tomorrow.

seriously. I kind of get TSA because you need to take your pet out of the carrier to go through, and I doubt they are checking if the carrier fits airline standards. But why the gate agents didn’t notice while she was boarding is beyond me.
I guess they figured they had to taxi back either way? I have no idea. And who knew airlines had pet carriers for sale at the gate? Not this lady lol
Oh I was thinking her being off the plane getting the carrier was the biggest delay. Hoo boy, I would’ve been hot.
they actually brought the new carrier onto the plane and charged her right there in the aisle (I was dying to hear how much it was but she didn’t ask and they just took her card). So no passengers had to disembark or get back on. It just took forever and a half. She had her young daughter with her as well - excellent example setting!

Not the point because I agree with you on the absurdity, but maybe it's more common in Australia to pull out of deals. I know they have an auction system for offering on houses. Maybe it's closer to the UK system in that people can get gazumped by better offers or buyers who change their minds or have a chain fall through.

Haha my H is also a huge Scooby Doo fan and has no shame about watching it whenever he comes across it. He was SO EXCITED when we saw Scooby & had to get a picture at Universal LOL

My trip at 21 months was my first away from my son. Part of why I didn't travel without him earlier was that the logistics of pumping seemed like such a pain! He was also a bottle refuser so it just didn't seem feasible for us. Even traveling with him under 12 months felt a little complicated, needing to think about how long I could do something away from him, etc. But being away from a nursing toddler is so different and so much easier! I hope you have a great trip!
I was surprised with the number of songs on TTPD that are about Matty Healy.
Google failed me. What did he do to her?
They dated super briefly 10 years ago and he wasn't ready to be in a relationship with her... 10 years later and after 6 years with Joe they got back together and then basically he ghosted her. This is all okay because he's a racist asshole and most Swifties were like wtf are you doing, but he's someone she sort of pined for for 10 years and then when the time was right she realized how wrong it really was.
"Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies-"God damn it, you've got to be kind.”
Today's strands is a PITA. I got one this morning right away the came back to it just now and cannot figure the rest out.
Speaking of bras, since I stepped up my exercising I've lost a few pounds apparently all in my boobs, lol (which YAY) and definitely need new bras based on pics I saw of myself this weekend. Does anyone have recommendations for VERY supportive bras? My go to is Wacoal but I feel they aren't working as well for me anymore. I need a lot of support!
