Going to get my hair cut and eyebrows cleaned up and tinted this AM and workout.
Fiber optic high speed internet is being installed in our neighborhood and despite all things being flagged they still hit our gas line yesterday so there was a leak and we had to stay inside for hours with doors and windows shut despite it being a windows open type day. They cut down one of our trees and dug a hole big enough for 3 men to stand in with only their heads showing to fix it. Could not cook on our stove/oven and only cold water till 8pm last night.
DS is home sick today and while I want him to feel better ASAP, I'm happy to miss a track meet tonight. They are so long and he does 2 events, so it's like wait for hours, cheer and cheer, then wait. I'm so glad he found running and his people though.

leaving for vacation today! Headed to Siesta key with the kids and meeting my SIL and nephew down there. Now just all the last minute running around before we leave tonight.
First time flying Frontier (or any "budget" airline) and stressing about our bags. I've measured and they should be fine, but still worried!
We just lost power which is very weird. I have a meeting at 9 that I need to log in to but won’t be able to if the power is out. I’m not that sad about it.

I have a hair appt. after work which will probably take a couple of hours, so I need to figure out my dinner situation that I can pick up between 5 and 5:30 on my way to the appt. Maybe a smoothie??
I posted a little while back about my neighbors and their barking dogs. They put the house up for sale and said that the reason the dogs were out so much was because they were having work done inside the house. Well, they are still there and I'm guessing they are waiting to move until the end of the school year when their son is out for the summer. This morning both dogs were out at 7:15 am. barking their heads off. I went out to the car to leave for work around 7:40 and they started barking more at me. Sigh. Just let your dogs in when they are barking please. Is that too much to ask???

I'm finally picking up my new grill tonight. I had a grill that worked perfectly fine before exH moved out, and then all of a sudden it didn't. I'm 98% sure he did something to it, but it was a 20 year old grill and I just didn't have the patience to try and figure it out, so I gave it away and finally bought a new one. I really wanted a grill with a side burner, but it was just out of my price range. The grill is right outside of my kitchen and I just couldn't justify paying $300+ to have a side burner when my kitchen is 10ft away. Anyway, I'm so excited to grill some meat this week LOL
A couple families in town just purchased a local restaurant, and I'm excited, because the place went downhill after the previous change in ownership and I'd love to have a local place I really enjoy. They just announced a loyalty program of sorts that I've never seen before and I wonder if it's a bad sign.
They haven't reopened yet and are asking people to buy a membership so they can have some capital and then members can get their initial investment back over the course of the next year. So you choose a level and pay in $X and then get monthly credit for food and beverage in the amount of $X/12, but the larger your $X, the larger the monthly bonus they give you. So, for example, if $X is $300, you just get your $25/month credit; but if X is $900, you not only get your $75/month credit, you also get another $10/month to spend.
Is this a thing and it's just my first time encountering it? I understand the desire for cash in hand now, and maybe it creates some loyalty since they'll be guaranteed traffic in the upcoming year, but it puts a significant liability on the books, and there's real risk involved in the monthly bonus element. I hope the place is successful!
Pilsy, that sounds a little "sus" to me, as my 7 year old would say.
I'm still bitter that my H and I paid about $400 collectively to be part of the "Founders Club" of a new brewery that started up here 4 years ago. We are friends with the owner and wanted to support him. It was promised that we'd be able to taste all new beers before they were released (this didn't happen) and that there would be "special events" for Founders Club members (which have been few and far between so far, pretty lame, and some of them were even "bring your own food") lol.

I dropped FI's daughter off her grandma's last night and she called me about 10 minutes later, there were fleas. We can't risk her bringing fleas back to our 4 dogs and 2 cats, so I went right back and picked her up. There went my chance to have the house to myself for a few days. I'm disappointed and tired. I really need a break, but that's not going to happen until probably June.
Pilsy , that sounds like an awful idea. The chances that they take your money and go out of business and you have nothing to recoup for it are very high. And yes, I think that's a bad sign for the success of the place.
Not to mention, how would they even track the monthly credits in a way that is easy and not confusing for the staff?
Pilsy - Sounds like they’re trying to crowdfund their restaurant. Big risk for people buying memberships because if they go under, you’re not getting that back, I don’t imagine.

Oh, and for anyone following. I've now had my period for 21 days. I have an appointment scheduled with my new Gyn next Tuesday. Turns out my old doctor with the months long wait for an appointment doesn't take my new insurance, so I had to switch and the new provider was able to get me in next week. I don't know what my options are at this point. It has to stop eventually, right? And even if it does, I can't do this again, even if I do only get my period every 3-4 months, bleeding for 3+ weeks is just not worth it.
Pilsy so you just get your original investment back with no interest - just extra food? Sounds like the worst investment structure ever, I'm not sure why anyone would do that over just writing them a check for an actual loan that would be paid back regardless of the restaurant staying open.

I’m in a showdown with a troop parent today and I’m tired. I don’t understand why people treat volunteers poorly.
Her kid hasn’t been in attendance in months. No one from their family unit responds to any form of communication.
Today, they turn up with demands.
Bitch, I thought you quit? I’m trying to be patient and extend grace, but I’m tired. I will always be respectful and clear in my communications, but I really just want to say, “GTFO, are you serious? Jog on.”

I went to a fabulous new place last night that had the best cocktails. They were telling me their promos, and one was beard night. The woman told me it would totally count if I drew one on myself. I asked, and this is a risk in this country, if I could bring a gay male friend and have that count, too. Yes!
The only drawback is it's on the other side of the island, and I don't go there frequently. But for cheap g&t, maybe!
Important update: I compromised and posed with only a robe on, semi-opened, lol
It was FASCINATING to see the different works of art develop over three and a half hours. Such talent! I am returning in a couple of weeks to do short poses (those will be nude) because holding a pose for 25-minute shifts for 3.5 hours is no joke!

I have an international travel question that is very specific, I need help from those who have traveled with kids. We have two kids ages 10 and 12.
We land in Rome at 9:15 on a Monday and have a hotel room at a conference type hotel 13 km outside of the city, there isn’t a close train station. We have free time from when we land until 4:00 Tuesday. (Then the conference begins).
I am considering booking an Airbnb for Monday night in the city so we can walk around and just enjoy rome, and not have to Uber back and forth from the hotel. We would just have a backpack of a change of clothes and toiletries.
Is this dumb with jet lag and kids? Should we just stay at the hotel and Uber to the city for lunch/dinner and head back? I am so torn bc an Airbnb would give us two bedrooms and save us the back and forth. But also it can be a hassle.
I tried to get ideas about what to wear to a concert and everything was kimonos and corsets 🫠
I've gone crazy treating myself this week oops. I went on a little shopping spree at Catbird and I'm picking out new sneakers right now (I'm trying to decide between Nike dunks or Gazelles). And then I remembered we have to pay for camp and I don't want to spend money on boring stuff LOL.
I've also spent the better part of the last week or so memorizing all the diss tracks out right now and so now I'm caught up on all the rap tea. I'm not sure it was the best use of limited memory space as a 41 yo but alas...here we are.

Right there with you. I'm the secretary of our middle school PTO. No one ever shows up to the meetings to express concerns, but then tears apart every decision we make. If you care so much, show up. We'll listen to any ideas anyone has. Don't tell us after the fact.
Coinciding with our Bluey convo yesterday - I was leaving before-care and one of my kid's providers was discussing how happy DS is in the morning, "He's like a jack russell terrier and I love it!" Which... is a pretty accurate description of my son's personality, lol!

People really, really suck. I’m sorry that’s going on with your gig.
I am coaching my kid's 5th Grade Book Battle Team. I try to avoid stuff like this because I don't like dealing with other parents. The team named themselves after an animal. Ok, great. They are allowed to dress up like their name for the competition (they usually wear uniforms).
One of the girls is insisting that they all wear taxidermied (is that a word?) tails of the animal that her father can provide. The other four girls are very much, HELL NO, to that idea. I have repeatedly told the girl she is welcome to wear one but the others don't have to. The mother has now texted me to say her daughter feels like her ideas are not being considered. I literally had to respond, "The other girls aren't comfortable wearing tails that used to be on living animals." Friday can't get here fast enough.

The air bnb would most likely have something like a 4 pm check in and a 10 am check out, without the advantage (which you would have at a hotel) of being able to stash your bags at the front desk while you wander.
If you did this, I'd maybe see if you can book the night before you land also, so that you have someplace to go to directly from the airport to freshen up and drop bags.
Otherwise, I'd probably just stick with the conference hotel. You can drop off your bags, freshen up in their lobby bathrooms, and the ride into the city should only be 15-20 minutes. You can walk around as long as you can manage on Monday, then head back to the hotel for dinner and an early bedtime. It was obviously a different city, but I was probably a similar distance from the city center when I went to a conference in Berlin a couple years ago. There were cool places to explore even in the outer area by the conference hotel, and it really wasn't bad to get a ride to the touristy areas.

Apparently today is picture day at DS's school. At first they said they had to wear their uniforms, but then next email said " Sunday best". All of his dress clothes are at his dads house so he's in jeans and a cute henley.
I wish the school would have communicated better so I could have planned. Oh well.

I'm in a foul mood today not sure why. But everyone at work is pissing me off, coworkers customers everyone! I think I may just go home early because I'm not in the mood for stupid people today.
